      GingerNinjaTrickster hello Sir I started taekwondo when I was 15 with very little
      flexibility and I remenber that one day a korean black belt told me to
      do the butterfly stance and then he pushed my back down with all his body
      weight while holding my feet for about two minits, I was in pain and
      almost criying but he laugthed and kept doing it. I have to admit that
      it did help me. Is it ok if I ask my brother to do it?

      Giancarlo Torres I wouldn't recommend that as forcing too much can cause damage/tears to your muscles.

    Thank you :) Improving flexibility is achievable at an older age but it takes more time and dedication to do so. If people struggle with any of these stretches they can simplify them by closing their legs more, reaching down to the shin/ankle instead, etc. Hope that helps and good luck with your training :)

    Thank you Aaron for producing this vid. I've been a martial artist all my life and at one time had good kicking ability. However, having cancer four and a half years ago really took it out it out of me. I couldn't do any form of training for over a year, so everything just locked up. However, over the past six months I have been training to get fit and now with the help of your stretching routine I'm starting to get some flexibility back, really hoping to box and side splits in the next 3-4 months. I'm 53, so don't give up it's never too late.
    Thank you again Aaron

    • @iloveyoushima

      +Jxvr Yes you will eventually get more flexible. Flexibility is one of those things that you can always improve throughout your life no matter how old or young you are. It works like muscles. the more weights you lift the stronger you get. the more you bend your legs the bendier they will get.

      Hey Allen, I'm 53 and after coming back from cancer I can do martial arts kicking to a good standard, for me it the small improvement that you don't really notice but after six months you realise that you are kicking higher and with greater skill. Wish I was 35 again..

    I'm 24 years old, and I'm just started to practice WTF. My body is not in the worst condition ever, I'm not starting from scratch. Still, long way to go. My master thinks, I'm doing it for fun... But I have an intention to surprise him. It's my dream, to take a picture of me, doing this high side kick. Well, if you're doing TKD, you know, what I'm talking about ;) Well, I have a long way to go, not even sure, if it's possible at all. But I'm going to try. Thanks a lot for your help on these. I love TKD, no matter, is it ITF or WTF. Both is cool

    • @GingerNinjaTrickster
      @GingerNinjaTrickster  10 лет назад +8

      You can simplify the stretches until you progress to the further stages. ie. reach for shin or ankle instead of holding your foot :)

    • @MsSetsuna
      @MsSetsuna 10 лет назад +2

      don't be so depressed. all you need to do is to take some anti depressants like coffee or coke or a cup of tea. then to fully attain your goal as to fully do the split, easy and quick. follow these simple procedures...you will need ten wheeler trucks atleast two, if you wanna stretch that thing hanging in between you will need three. but for now lets concentrate on your feet. first set the two trucks facing their backs, leave some space for you in between them. then tie each leg on each truck. then make a signal to get the trucks going. in just a second you will be able to do the split. but tell the drivers not to go too far coz it might split you into halves. anyway, i can feel that you are half a man, and it's like you're trying to get the attention of our ninja guy here. you know what i mean. ill keep my mouth shut.

    Hello, first I would like to thank you for your video, I have been looking for a good martial arts routine for flexibility and I think yours is the best I have seen. So very helpful by adding the beginner Technics in. I am 39 years old and have been involved in martial arts for only 2 years now. I find at my age I take 3 steps back and 2 steps forward when it comes to flexibility. Hamstrings are so very tight and have a hard time rolling my hips over. I am going to take your advice and use a wall. Thank you again for your knowledge and time, very much appreciated. Keep up the great work.

    I practised taekwondo for 9 years, quit when I was 17 and now 10 years later picking it up again. But damn have I lost flexibility, condition and balance. Seriously I came back and the people there actually were quite positive about the technique, power and even speed I still had. But I injured myself straight for two months with going to fast, to high and to hard. But its kinda hard going only on half force. I do need to work on stretching, also balance and control, it seems I can only do the techniques fast now. If I do them in slowmotion it seems impossible now. I had great control when I stopped, so its kinda frustrating. Also condition is horrible, lol, but it feels good coming back to my sport.
    Thanks for the videos, really helpfull to get back into shape.
    Question though. Do you advice doing this only before training or every day? Do muscles need recovery from stretching, so that you need to take rest days or can you do it as often as possible? Like to know what you recommend.

  • @VFella
    @VFella 9 лет назад +2

    OK, this seems quite more practical than Yoga or Tai-chi, LOL.
    I am searching for a way to increase flexibility and range of motion.
    I don't practice any MA (classical boxing in the summer, but not serious) but I need to improve this part of my fitness.
    I am a road runner who has switched over to trails and while on the road stiffness is a plus (transferring more force to the ground) on the trail it's near suicide. I know by experience that the people who have the sort of flexibility I need are the martial arts practitioners and I also know by experience that Taekwondo is the more no-nonsene MA that exists (plus I love Korea)
    I'll definitely include this routine into my training... and maybe swap boxing for Taekwondo?
    Anyway: Thanks for posting, great channel!

    Your videos are really awesome! :D
    I'm 16 and I do Shotokan Karate since 8 years ago.
    I think, i'm not too flexible. What do you think, how much time I need, to do relatively good splits?
    And from curiosity: how many trainings did you have, when you was the same age as me?

    Hey dude, was wondering if you had any tips for calf flexibility specifically, my kicks don't really fully extend from the knee down due to tight calves, hamstrings are fine though but it kinda results in my kicks ending up as hooks haha

    I'm starting a workout regime here pretty soon to lose more weight and get a little toned. But I also want to try and work some flexibility exercise in there as well. I was wondering, are some people naturally more flexible than others? Because I was following your video the best I could and it turns out, surprisingly, I can almost do a full split (2 or 3 inches from the ground) with little discomfort, keep my legs completely straight while bending over and touching my knuckles flat to the floor with no discomfort, and I can stand straight up and slowly lift one leg a little higher than head level and easily hold it there. All this despite the facts I have never worked out and since I started college, I don't live a very active lifestyle. I'm a 24 year old male, 5'9" and right around 200 pounds now. I had a pretty physically demanding job before I started college and lost around 80 pounds through just dieting and no change in exercise level over the course of a year.
    Do you think I'm doing something wrong? D:

      marlonbrando1985 It all depends on many factors like genetics, form, consistency, etc. The best thing you can do is stretch with good form consistently and you will improve. How fast? I have no idea but you will certainly keep improving with practice. Good luck :)
