Absolutely WOW!
Who is your favourite painter, Andrew?
My favourite painter is the polymath Stephen Hough.
Not a patch on your paintings!
I like him and his paintings and I am eccentric though.

Will student grade oil paint as an underpainting then use artist grade oils mess up the painting in the long term ive seen acrylic underpaintings then oil is it the same? Really love your work been a great inspiration for me
I think what I like best about your videos is that you aren't just showing tips & tricks, but on a deeper level, you are demonstrating that there are objective techniques and processes behind creating great art (and it isn't necessarily formulaic).
Hey Clark, thanks so much for saying. Painting can be a pretty hefty subject, so it's important to get the steps in there! There is a lot that goes into the paintings. :)
Andrew Tischler you have inspired me to learn painting...magnificent painting.
Andrew ... I am a zoologist who became a filmmaker; at 76, I still love it. You are an artist who is an inspiration. Never stop. Your work is wonderful. Thank you.
Wow, so you put a blue umber gray blended into the white ….thanks. Dark on light, light on dark. Thanks needed this….
God bless u buddy. U r the reason for my dream coming true. M 40 n just started
Great teacher and great painter Andrew!! I have watched this video before but since I love egrets, and I painted one or two in acrylic, but do not look as great as yours, I can appreciate your details technique, and patient in painting. This is a skill everyone needs to learn. Patience, and dedication. You are my best teacher. I am a self taught 69 years old woman and have been painting portraits most of my life when I was able to paint. Now that I am older I feel I can dedicate the rest of my life to my passion. Thank you Andrew for your kindness and compassion. I don't see in you the interest only on gaining but mostly in teaching, and I believe the Almighty have given you the talent and will give you fortune and fame. You have a gift my dear, a God given gift!! Thank you
I watched this video many times ! I really appreciate your generosity is allowing us to watch you create your masterful works!
I love listening and watching you paint. I paint with acrylics, have never tried oils. I love the challenges. You're explanations are very helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Not many words from me just pure amazement. Thank you Andrew.
Just watched this again. It is soooo beautifully done. Those luminous white feathers are breathtaking! I thank you for inspiring quality improvement. Thank you for your generosity.
I'll swear that egret blinked - such a superb painting. Your technique of creating relief and detail on a white-on-white subject is masterful. Many thanks this valuable demonstration.
Superb, the art, the instruction, the inspiration, the whole thing. Watched this several times over and learn something afresh every time. Thanks!
Your artwork and videos are amazing. Can't get enough of them. A BIG THANKYOU for the inspiration and creative want you encourage and the time you take to assist us all and share your amazing talent
Absolutely incredible! It’s fascinates me how you can take a relatively bland photograph and come up with a deep, rich, vibrant painting. What a pleasure to see your paintings emerge.
Amazing Andrew, thank you for your unending generosity and amazing talents. Amazing paintings and thank you for sharing your close-up techniques.
You are a great teacher and awesome painter Andrew. Thank you for this great channel. I have learned so much that I didn't know about painting.
The best tutor ever! So much love your paintings! It helps me lot to improve my artworks. Thankyou for sharing your talent Andrew! Godbless!
This is the most OMG tutorial on painting I've seen in years on my favorite subject, Egrets. Thank you, Andrew, love your work and style, all well delivered with subtle power and care!
Thanks so much for the comment!
Another great video, I can't get over the amount of detail and planning that you put into your work. The fact that you use bristle brushes to get all that detail is equally amazing. I have been trying finer and finer synthetic brushes and can't get anything like the detail you do. Please don't stop making these videos
Love your videos. They're so helpful in creating a realistic painting. Can't wait to see your next one!
Brilliant! Thankyou Andrew, you are inspirational. Your commentary explains so much.
I learned so much just watching you paint...you're right, this was so much more than "how to paint birds," it's really about how to use reference photos. I have the habit of copying my references too exactly instead of thinking of how to use them to achieve better composition and a story. Thank you for really taking us through your whole thought process, it was really helpful and I want to incorporate similar strategies in my own paintings from now on.
I want to try using a toned canvas too. It just looked marvelous peeking through little areas in the egret painting. I had never really understood the point of them before, besides making the canvas less blank and more "approachable."
Those color studies were so good already...they definitely seem to help when you're doing larger works.
I could go on about how you showed how to preserve tones and how useful your wedge brushes look, but I'd be here all day.
Anyway, thank you for this excellent video!
Love how you share the color mixes and brush work.
Thank you so much, I have been painting for decades and you have inspired me anew!!!
I can feel your love of nature in your work ❤ thanks for the amazing tutorial , its very complete and helpful to understand all the process of bringing an idea to life 👏
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on painting. Love your paintings and the portrait of Russell P.
I love this one, you can see your joy to paint
you are one of the best artist I've ever seen!!! I wish that one day I can paint like that!!
Wow Andrew....you sure have a most wonderful gift. Love the style of your tutorials. Many thanks. Trish. Australia.
I can't believe I haven't see you before on RUclips, this is the second video I watch and I am amazed on how great you are, you are such a teacher and an artist, thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for this channel. Your painting is just so amazingly awesome to watch, it is impossible to stop ... nothing much gets done on my own canvas! With the added bonus of landscapes from New Zealand, my favourite place on this globe, I can only kick myself for not finding this addiction earlier! Not just an amazing artist, you are a great teacher as well!
I've never liked and followed any artist like this before you're something else I been learning so much from you thank you so much Andrew!!!!!
Thanks for demonstrating your working method from experiencing the bird in nature, photos, sketches, and then progressing through stages of painting. I sometimes like the free brushwork stage better than the full realism results but that is just my enjoyment of abstraction showing.
Somehow your videos don't get old, Andrew. I lost count how many times I've watched your videos, they are that good.
Great class Andrew! Many thanks for explaining the whole interesting process of a master piece.

Painting at a spiritual level!
Wonderful videos, really enjoy them and having been a wildlife artist for many years I find there is always more I can learn.
How neat those sketches! I enjoyed seeing the preview and study of the object before starting painting, really interesting. Thanks for teaching us
Hey Andrew, I love your painting! The Great Egret was the subject of my thesis for a Master of Science degree in Conservation Biology at Humboldt State University in Northern California. It allowed me to pursue a 33 year career as a wildlife biologist. Naturally I'm drawn to it! I have painted wildlife subjects, birds and mammals, world wide, mostly in acrylic, in the style of the great Robert Bateman. But never an egret, strangely, however I have painted a great blue heron, the larger cousin to this bird, in acrylic. Your video inspires me to paint an egret in oils now. Nice work!!
That's just outright gorgeous!
Absolutely one o the greatest videos I’ve ever seen
Remarkable artist and teacher! Just amazed with your talent, kindness, humility, and sharing of your gift! I am surely inspired and know that this will help me grow immensely!

i SUBSCRIBED. Incredible art and learning tools here! Thank you for sharing your talent and techniques, I paint oil as well, with Birds being one of my favorite things to paint as well. I have three going on at this moment. Love to learn and thanks again!
Your paintings have a wonderful sculptural quality and you are a superb colorist. A great talent! Thanks for the tips. So interesting and helpful to watch you work!
I have to say your skills and enthusiasm is excellent. I spent so many years teaching illustrators (since 1979) how to control and apply mediums using an airbrush. I worked with a couple of company's here in Australia designing pigmented based airbrush colours.
I have a friend who used to do illustrations for the WWF of wild cats, that sadly, ended up being look after at reserves in Florida among other places. Many years ago he told me he used both a camera and a "movie camera" to get the images he needed to produce his pieces (many used for posters to generate income for the parks). He had a program that allowed him to edit through the movie frame by frame getting that perfect reference for the painting. Sadly I have retired some years ago and have lost that software name... If I find it I will pass it on. Excellent work by the way.
Love the color and detail!
My goodness ! You are an exceptionally outstanding artist !

Definitely going to follow you, you are amazing, love how you share all your tips, thank you
I wanted to let you know how your art and videos have helped me in my own pursuits and every time I watch a video, I come away with new knowledge about using oils. Thank you. Also, I just ordered a half set (smaller ones up to 3/8") of your 'dagger' brushes from Rosemary & Co. They should be here in about two weeks - I am anxious to try them out. Currently I do not have any angle-cut brushed so - yeah. Please keep up the great work and instruction. Thanks, Dr. B
I think you are a wonderful teacher and inspiration, but you are also reminding me of my older brother. He was really good, and had so much potential to become a great painter. But my father took him off art school to work instead. So life was not so good and he choose the "hard way " and has ended up with a lot of all sorts of pain and is now an alcoholic (not a heavy drunker). Love him dearly, and I get a little bit sad when I see you, you look so much alike. We don't live close by, but we have talked a couple of times about him visiting me and we paint together. I wish I can help him, to inspire him to start paint again. He still has the potential. He was born with it. Thank you anyway for being my inspiration.
thank you for sharing all your tips, I’m definitely going to follow you, You are truly amazing
