Just to comment, the red white blue speaker sounded quite different, and better, to me when you played the rear-loaded setting. Maybe it changed the way you played it because of your initial impression causing you to play more happily with that setting, but that playing was then duplicated on the second take (front-loaded). Again, maybe, the weight of the driver, when rear mounted, might cause more movement of the mounting panel which could in turn change your perception of the resulting sound. I agree that there's not much in it (difference-wise), but before you made your observation, I was listening for, and heard, quite a change in the overall character of the sound. It seemed to have more low end, and actually to have more of a throw or length of dynamic to the delivery of the tone as well.I didn't like righer of tge driven sounds you made, but maybe I just don't like the Klon-type distortion,( I prefer the 808 Tube screamer sound anyway, so that's probsbly why. The vintage thirty sounded a bit more detailed in the high end, so probably better for US style or Fender amps anyway. For a closed back cab, I usually prefer Celestion speakers for a softened high end that suits a driven tone for me anyway, and an open-backed cab, to my ears, suits a sharper cleaner top end for US Fender type sounds.

I have both these speakers. First the WGS because of price, then I got the RWBs both are awesome!
Option 3 thru my headphones sounded best to me.

Nice! I think both are great speakers. The RWB has more midrange to my ear. Both are great. I do think the rear load seats the speaker better for this test. I found that the gasket and using medium screw tension - and not cranking it down so hard! - works best.

@KleyDeJong I have a homemade cab that I built. If I played as well as I wish I did, it all might make a huge difference, but I'm just a couch hack. I just try and get a tone that I like and not copy someone else's. That way, I'm not too disappointed when my playing is amateurish. As long as that E chord sounds loud and gritty with some pedals, I'm happy. Appreciate you! Love your playing

During the clips you made when first building the cakepan 5e3, what speaker cab were you playing that through? I always meant to ask, but never did.
