  • I would never criticize my beloved Black Ops 1, but there are a few things that the newer games do better.
This video is also meant to be a follow up to my previous on about things I miss in Zombies, which I recommend watching as well.

my main gripe with the new zombies is the overloaded UI's. i much preferred the bo1/2 style with only necessary things visible.

@@officialthetbut you could make it simple... I'm not discarding your gripe with the UI, I really like the BO2 one as it changed depending on the map while in CW it can feel too much alike MP's UI, but I don't think complaining about too much UI is valid when you can disable individual HUD elements to make it as simple as BO3 if you don't like the additional information.

Biggest improvement was the shared inventory, picking up every part on tranzit, die rise and especially buried feels so cumbersome after Mob has a shared inventory for buildables.

Im still hoping for some type of quicksave feature on top of exfill, Basically a temporary save that cannot be duplicated/reloaded but allows you to actually turn your console off. High round players suffer because they can't quicksave/load. There was a mod on pc dead rising made by stipo which allowed you to save in infinity mode which if you are going for 7 day survivor which is a achievement that takes 12 hours, being able to save to prevent overheating/wear on your console or pc is a god send

That would be a great feature. You could actually do that in the mobile versions, but they should bring it over to the mainline games

Great video dude! on the topic of shields personally I enjoyed the finding of parts , especially when there were map specific shields as a payoff such as the one on shadows but to each their own

  • @rampagegaming3557

Here's my take on everything you brought up:
Points on left side. Yeah this is infinitely better.
Traditional Shield is way better than Armor in my opinion. I liked how it encouraged people to explore the map (1 part in each third typically). Plus, having to face away from the zombies to be protected adds a layer of skill that is really nice.
Salvage and other 'drops' are really gross! I dislike almost everything that was brought in from Warzone, it really takes away from the gamemode's style. Overall, really bad addition that unfortunately will likely never go away due to Warzone's insane popularity.
Solo eggs. Absolute win. There is no reason every egg needs to require 4 players, and even if it does, there is no excuse for not doing what Call of the Dead did with 2 versions.
Damage numbers, score pop-ups, and health bars blow so hard. Part of the fun is not knowing how much health things have. The unknown is what makes this mode so tense and exciting at times. Like getting chased by a panzer on origins when you are stuck with crappy guns. Not knowing when it will die is exciting, and finally seeing the faceplate explode off after everyone is working together is amazing. If you add a health bar to it, it loses that feeling because now, its just another bullet-sponge. Not to mention, they add unnecessary clutter. (I don't care if you toggle them, its on in base game which means its on for 99% of players)
Pack a punch tiers & weapon rarities are interesting. I dig PaP tiers, but AW had wayyyy too many and Bo4 tied too many systems to it (double tap, AAT). I wish PaP was turned back to how it was in Bo1 and WaW where it completely changed the functionality of a weapon (like the Spas-12 becoming fully automatic) instead of a glorified double tap. Bring back PaP's whimsical factor and move the straight up damage changes to the tiers. I'm not sure how the acquisition of higher tiered weapons would work, but I strongly dislike the current Warzone-esque implementation they have now.
The new ability for zombies to throw projectiles at players out of reach is really good for preventing glitch exploitation. The new movement that forced this addition is not good in my opinion. I strongly dislike mantling in zombies. This addition makes the player so slippery. There is no threat of getting cornered. Map geometry doesnt matter because the player just mantles over everything. It ruins map flow, it makes pathing boring, and overall it further makes zombies feel like Warzone. Keep the player limited because within this limited movement, exciting, tense situations are created.
Carpenter being changed to also refill shield health is perfect.
Exfil is a mixed bag. In theory, its good, but in execution it ruins public lobbies and is extremely lackluster in solo play. I personally was always a fan of a last stand to end a match that my friends and I grew tired of, but exfil does not scratch that same itch. Honestly not sure how to remedy this besides making exfil require every player to agree and actually challenging or just leaving 'alternate' endings to easter egg completions.
Grenades are desperately in need of some love, but (again) the warzone like equipment is so terrible. Bo4 tried too hard to incorporate grenades into a player's kit. I'm sure there is a happy medium where grenades are decently useful until around round 10 at which point maybe an upgrade or wall buy (like Bo1 semtexes) makes them useful for another 10-15 rounds. Grenades were never supposed to be a main way of wiping hoards though, and I hope they never become like Bo4 again because it is insanely boring.
Bo4 weapon sharing was peak. It just did what the hacker did in Bo1/Bo3 moon. Cold war's mechanic of dropping your previous weapon is nasty though. It leads to annoying clutter in front of the mystery box, difficulty picking up the weapon you actually want, and it can lead to people playing like parasites instead of building their own arsenal. Taking a weapon should be a deliberate trade-off. Not a fan of take-backsies.

You bring up some good points. I definitely agree that the Warzone style of a lot if the new features isn’t ideal. I may like the gameplay, but I’m not too fond of the colorful piles of loot and I hope they can find a more appropriate way of doing it.

How are points on the left side infinitely better? I find it really annoying having to look in 2 separate places to see the 2 most important numbers (ammo and points)

I see both sides of your argument here. I started my zombies journey back in BO1 and play Cold War frequently so I know everything about the old system versus the new system. Most of what you said is just preference honestly. I do think some of the warzone stuff bleeding into zombies is distasteful, however, it’s not something that ruins the game mode whatsoever. Cold War zombies whether you like it or not is truly the evolution from the older style of zombies and is most likely here to stay.
Aside from the gameplay I believe what Cold War excels in the most is the weapon progression system. I am a hardcore BO3 fan but I think the weapon system on Cold War blows any other zombies game before it out of the water. That said, I don’t have a problem going back to BO3 and going for high rounds to experience a more classic style of zombies

i think the main change with zombies in new games is the perspective that players approach it. originally it was an easter egg in of its self so the complexity and obscurity of learning locations of parts and how to do things was fine becuase people didnt even expect it to be there

My top 3 changes not in this video (not in a particular order):
I like the removal of Double Tap. I get that it's a fan favorite and highly requested, but after the 2.0 version I've always felt like it didn't have a real place as a perk. We already have the Pack-A-Punch for increasing our damage and we have different tiers of weapons and attachments now as well. Double Tap felt like a crutch in BO2 and BO3 due to the lack of other valid options. I like perks that are really strong, but situational rather than generally over powered. Like PHD were only useful if you had explosives, Elemental Pop if you're using AATs, Stamin Up for larger maps or Ethereal Razor for melee weapons. I know without the perk limit the idea here becomes less consequencal as you can just buy all of them, but the order you buy them in still matters when you consider the price of the perks going up. I actually wish the price would increase even more exponentially after you have 4 perks to really rub in the fact that your perk order matter while also giving players the option to become a super soldier.
I like the new version of Quick Revive more than the original. I really enjoy having the perk be consistent rather than changing depending on co-op and solo and I also love that self revives is separate so that you're not required to lose a perk slot in solo games. I also think the faster health regeneration aspect offers an alternative to juggernog that was severely lacking. You're still always going to get jug in CW (you don't even have it in BO4), but I've found myself getting Quick Revive before jug due to being able to rely on the armor system.
I really enjoy the Upgrade Stations and how rare salvage was used in it. Note I haven't played Vanguard so I don't know if this one changed and I don't count MWZ as it's a completely different mode. Choosing between increasing the damage of your weapon or increasing your protection is my favorite choice in video games as I've always loved creating glass cannon builds. The weapon you spawn with in CW are most likely going to be the weapon you want to use (this idea was heavily nerfed after they added the ability to add prebuilt attachments to any weapon) so choosing to increase that weapon's damage output early made me feel like a glass cannon. Especially since it's generally difficult to get high tiered weapons before round 20. I dumped all my points into the PAP and all my rare salvage into my gun to obliterate Zombies and boss enemies and making it more fun as I had to rely more on my own skill at dodging zombies.
Otherwise I agree with all the changes you pointed out in your video!
