I used to attach a small block of wood under the trunk and do a subtractive carve, leaving the exposed roots.😳 Your clay method is SO much easier. Why didn't I think of that?🤔 Smack!!! (sound of palm hitting forehead) lol And that tree is looking great on your million-dollar layout!🤗 🚂Lawrence
I liked the "Arteest" out in the woods with his drawing tablet freezing his Butt off to get the details needed to make realistic trees! Good Job, Buddy
Too many times I've seen trees just stuck in the ground like a telephone pole, or having an obvious base, with a meager attempt to hide it, this makes for a much more realistic tree imo. I also think that too many model trees have foliage that is too thick, yours looks fine to me.
I just bought 10lbs of clay for a project for my daughter. She might be missing some before the weekend is over. This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
I love work like this and ponder the question about how consuming this commitment is for the modeler. One tree... a twenty minute video. I know there is setup but I can't imagine it would take much less time to create this tree. And when I look at your layout the AMAZING attention to detail... all of that takes hours and hours and hours. Breathtaking. I know you're not alone as a hobbyist but you certainly give amazing attention to detail. I had to subscribe so I can't watch more of what you do. You remind me of the folks making small dioramas... but you're bringing that level of attention to the whole layout. Takes my breath away. Deep respect. And your banter while working is excellent as well. You have a lovely voice and very friendly manner. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Curtis. It is time consuming, but of course everyone works at what ever level is best for them. Usually a layout is a lifelong project, so it works out, for me anyway.
Thank you for this video, I have a bandi atst star wars kit I have been meaning to build and I want to do a wood diorama with it, think I will give the root system a go. All the best Anthony
That is really cool looking. I have those sage stems and the other stuff but never knew how to use it right, Thanks for showing us the right way to use it.
Where is your company located? I am in Kansas City MO but soon to retire in MN. In my retirement years I am going to build a layout. Layout number 4. Your level of craftsmanship is the benchmark I want to achieve. It will take time.

Thx! There's a dozen ways to do the same thing, worth trying them all.
Thanks Doug, BearCreek 🐾🌫🚂.
Like every time I watch one of your videos .. I immediately want to stop everything and skip off to my layout to replicate it in my little world
Motivation is contagious!

I use thin wooden dowels to stand my trees so if you move or place it it will look more natural and be firm on your layout
For snow covered trees would apply the green flocking still before applying the snow?
Depends on the tree, evergreens yes. But other trees would have no leaves....thx for watching!
to bad u don't have n scale your kits r great

maybe you should probably practice a little before you try it in front of the camera
