I immediately recognize Pickles Oblong as the drunk mom. In the show, Debbie’s mom was like, “Nice hair. Where’s ya get it?!” and mama says, “Off some who re. I think it was ur mother.”
I got the book after I watched “The Oblongs”.
Angus Oblong has one hell of a brain. He deserves more praise.
Creepy Susie is my favorite character because she has a rather dark sense of humor, yet knows her boundaries and is still a little girl that wants to have fun. She’s become relatively popular on the internet, but for the wrong reason. Too many people draw lewd art of her. She’s 10 YEARS OLD!!
I suppose the nail in the coffin was people reading "her vagina tingled" and the fact the internet is obsessed with goth girls.
THAT'S the real creepy part.
How have I just found out about this book now? I used to watch the Oblongs all the time when it used to air on Adult Swim.
The book came first, which I'm sure is obvious now. The show was based around characters from the book
It was one of the cool things hot topic had almost 20 years ago
I love how Bean rides a skateboard for a walk. That’s so cute
That's probably how a dog with no legs would have to goes from place to place.
Can we acknowledge his transition glasses from beginning to end? Bravo
this read-along has greatly improved this already great book!
Thank you. Been looking for a place to read this online and now I don't have to!
My pleasure
I read it first in an old 4chan thread
I thought I read some messed up children's books! Feeling a whole lot better now for getting that Go the F**k to Sleep one to read to my grandson when he was little and just would not go the f**k to sleep.
Which one would you say was the most unexpected?
@@ChuckBoris3 Definitely the one that was only pictures - but I should have seen it coming.
When I was 7 I came across this children's book that is still one of my still favorite books. Who's Boss in Tony's Family? All about this boy who found a black cat who tried to boss the family around and his family kept complaining that cat thinks he's boss in our family. But it ends with the cat is sitting on a book shelf by the door when two burglars break in and he attacks the burglars and they run off! (Hey, it was the 60s, man, and, yeah, it was published in '62 when I was 4) then they all decide the cat was Boss. I loved that weird book! Odd part is I grew up to have a cat just like that for 18 and a half years - she chased off at least two burglars that I know of, attacked Dobermans and German Shepherds and won! Weird, huh?
I don’t think it was for children.
@@nosebonkisgod1170 Um, Chuck's? No, of course not. Who's Boss in Tony's Family? Yep, it was a children's book - and a pretty cute one.
We played cops and robbers and cowboys and Indians in the 60s. People didn't think kids were fragile little eggs in cartons who would crack wide open at the reality of violence existing in the world. I was falling asleep at night listening to rioting in the street. Burglars entering one's home only to have a cat drop on their head and attack them was nothing!
I also think it was pretty awesome that I got a cat like that. God I loved that New York B*tch!
I love abnormal, even in some way horrifying children's books. Since I grew up with fairytales, folklore and stuff like that I guess that I'm used to it. One book that is pretty messed up, but that I still love is "Struwwelpeter". Idk if there is an english translation, but there probably is and if so you should check it out.
"Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales For Troubled Children" is for adults.
Thanks for sharing!
I feel like Rosie could’ve been Milo’s long lost sister if the show continued.
The only reason why I loved the oblongs was because they were different and had health problems but they still got through all of the worlds cruel people with honesty and love. I can see why he didn’t make more episodes because he most of been bullied real badly by people for him to see the whole world like this. I want to give them all love ❤ bless them all!
God I miss watching the show, I still have a couple of DVDs of it and I’m only 15 lol 😂
Wow What An Awesome Book Thanks For The Narrateion
Best 19 minutes and 13 seconds of my life
I did found out Milo was based on Angus Oblong (born David Adam Walker) himself when he was a kid.
Angus really subverted my expectations with the Little Scooter story. I honestly thought he would die because someone threw a rock or knife at his head.
imagine if this book was made for kids just think about it
Hermano, este video es genial, literal no necesito comprar el libro, si puedo ver este video en cualquier momento
I remember reading this book, I think that my bad influence is because of that book, it turns out that violence causes me pleasure
(for some reason, don't ask)
Its called sadism
The terminology is hilarious!
She hit him with a big frozen meat
Needed more dinosaurs!
And more space aliens too.
@@SolarFarle Maybe also more mutated creatures as well.
Loved it!
Btw this is not a kids book 😅
You should be a kindergarten teacher.
I don't think parents would appreciate me reading this one to the kiddos
@@ChuckBoris3 Because this is not a kid book at all. This book for adult readers, ages 18 and over.
@@billmcdonnell79 no, we didn't know that 🙄
I need to get this book
I recommend you order it directly from the author, as he will draw a custom cartoon on the inside of the book for you
I wish Rosie had been in the show. She could’ve been a junior Pickles.
It’s funny how the book is for kids, but the show is for adults
Movie shows rot the childrens brains dont you know! They should read a nice healthy book •-•
@@cakesjay3064These books are just right for them.
now so they came 9:06
My wife is literally a Debbie.
Lol... watch out for the Helgas then
@@ChuckBoris3 these stories are horrifying but oddly hilarious.
As a GSK, I'm a total Helga. Heads and pizza crusts are DELICIOUS.
@@stillnachofriend GSKS UNITE!
@@stillnachofriend you have been too long in your parents' basement. I haven't seen hide nor spur of you in some time.
Family friendly content nice.
pick me up mommy i'm scawred
This reminds me of Edward Gorey, kind of.
I like Susie.
Me too. My copy is autographed by Angus. He asked what doodle I wanted, but my email went to his spam, so he just drew a face with a question mark when I asked for Susie smoking a j.
@@ChuckBoris3 Awesome.
I wanna be Eric twinkle butt lol
@@ChuckBoris3 Eric's brain was very lucky.
Me too
No new comments I see, well, I’m gonna change that. Even if temporary
I got suggested this from a video by shad base drawing ass
Interesting
5;45 little scooter 6;48 death ordered
13;50 a rake thru another person, awful
You look and sound like Adam Driver
Adam driver looks like me if I had plastic surgery and stretched my face. As far as sound I see no similarity other than we both tend to be fairly annunciated.
terrible to scare kids, I recall the 80, 90;s horror genre, all absurd so evil . Look at the social domanice issue minus the social distancing matter
lol, this is NOT really a children's book. Me reading this was a joke.
this didn't give me chills,
This give me a French waifu
See my post above. I actually read it to one of mine. It was hilarious.
She grew up conservative.
I don't get it.
