I'm Jewish and have ancestors from Poland that died in the Holocaust. And I STILL listen to this song constantly, because it rules and cannot be denied. I just remind myself that "depiction" does not equal "endorsement."

Slayer's "Reign in Blood" made in 1986 is the most aggressive album of all time. There are faster albums and there are heavier albums, but none is as aggressive.

    • @vovindequasahi

Truth! Only Morbid Angel comes close to matching the level of aggression and just pure evil that this album soothes in.

@@DennisTrovato That is one underrated album! Loved it back in the day. But no, Slayer is in a league all its own. Because there are plenty of bands do "aggressive" well like Kreator, but there is only one band that pioneered this level of real raw aggression with "fuck you" levels of controversy in the material - Slayer.
If you want aggression with technical proficiency, look for early (actually sophomore) Sepultura. Beneath the Remains is my all-time favourite.

I would have to disagree. For the 80s and 90s, yes, but now there are bands like Archspire and Inferi, Lorna Shore, etc. Faster, heavier, and more brutal and aggressive. But Slayer is very heavy, and definitely the most agressive before the 2000s, even with Cannibal Corpse

Many Metal Singers have a voice control that normally, only Opera Singers have. Also, the amount of decibels that they can pump out, without doing permanent harm to themself, is astonishing. If any one of us tried to do what Araya is doing for 5 minutes, our vocal cords would be permanently damaged.

8:45 - “how this brings it out of me even tho its uncomfotable”
THAT is the point on most, if not all of Slayer’s songs… to bring out the ‘uncomfotable’ things in life - the death, the horrors, the pain, etc

I'm glad you liked it! 😎🤘 Metal shines a light on the darkest parts of our world. Technically they are impossibly good, which is what really got me into them. There are two lead guitarists, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman (RIP), and they trade sections of the solos, the other one seamlessly picking up the riff as the other solos. That the whole band stays together at this breakneck speed is just ridiculously difficult.
This whole album (less than 30 minutes long) is an absolute masterpiece and has remained in my top 5 since I heard it decades ago.

I've been a Slayer fan for a very very long time and have been to more then 10 shows.. I've never heard Tom accused of being an opera singer! LOL! It's sort of like saying that Anette Olzon was the best lead singer of Nightwish when anyone with sense knows Floor by far eclipses the other 2.
I will say I thought Tom would be an interesting replacement for Marko though. He plays the base and he sings.. But really Marko's the only one that fits that spot properly.
I'm a newer fan of Nightwish "so is my wife". We saw them at the Brooklyn bowl in Las Vegas. Was an awesome show.
Slayer in my eyes was at its best with all of its original talent playing. It's easy to tell when Lombardo's on the drum kit and Jeff Hahnemann was not only a fantastic guitarist but wrote many of they're best songs "Angel of Death included".
I'm glad you both noticed the simple phrase "Rancid Angel of Death.. fly's free". I haven't noticed another channel bringing it up but I've thought the same for a long time.
Also on the Nazi crap that was thrown they're way. I say if you expose exactly what they did and don't hide it your not promoting it in any way shape or form. Your throwing the facts directly at everyone listening and make it impossible to ignore!

    - oh, it starts heavy 🤣 oh it’s about to get a lot more intense. I think this is the most brutal intense song ever written hands down. Not only due to the music but even more so due to lyricism/subject matter. I remember hearing this as a teenager banging my head rocking out than learning it on guitar to headbang and rock out some more. And to me this also has to best bridge/breakdown of all time. But now as I’m older I can’t really stomach it due to the lyricism. It’s just to real. Well it literally is real so hearing how horrific it is as Slayer literally details it it’s just to much. All these experiments/atrocities literally happened. Hence your guys perfect comment @ 6:27 Anyway glad you guys checked it out lol.

After asking him, "What did she ever do to you?"
I blasted Angel of Death at full volume.
You can't imagine the look of terror on this poor girl's face. She stayed for the whole song, so I gotta give her props. When the song was over she didn't say a word. She just walked slowly away with a face that said, "I have seen the dead walking."

Slayer created controversy because they wrote their songs mostly from the pov of the person committing the evil. Kinda like a horror movie. Dead skin mask, unit 731, and the supremist are all examples of it. And they often changed the pov in the lyrics between the perpetrator and the victim

This album is so evil and heavy, there is nothing like it before or after. People can try... hell even Slayer tried but I guess Satan was in the room when this album was created. There is something darkly mystical and magical about this album... You know all the pieces fit (Piece by Piece lol) even though it is so insane and unhinged. Altar of Sacrifice. Postmortem. Holy shit Raining Blood... The entire album is a masterpiece. I just don't know if the members of the band were entirely in control of themselves making this album... Feels inspired by Satan to me.
When this album came out I actually dreamt about buying it before I did. It blew my mind when I listened to it... Never heard anything like it before. It is an incredible achievement of Evil. It hits you in the primal and makes you into a beast, if you let it. Jesus Saves! But not with this album...

Perhaps THE Slayer song. It represents everything they were about. RIB's greatness is in how memorable and good every riff sound, and how all the songs are arraigned. And Dave Lombardo :) But he was the gem of Slayer, in their good and bad days.
Mengele was one of the vilest figures of The Holocaust. He was devoted to an euphoric satisfaction from acts of savagery of the most bestial nature, in never-ending quantity. Although he was not the exception, but the norm. You will find his levels of sadism in countless of others like him, in infernal and eternal hatred. Their hatred of the Jews was and forever will be a passion for them. It's an addiction of global proportion, and it crosses all boundaries of time. It will morph and always rise again. Only that the likes of Mengele will never smile at the ramp and choose twins for his experiments. Nor would a future Otto Moll burn babies alive in his fire ditches.
The wretch was almost caught by the Mossad. But died a not so peaceful death, even if in hiding.

Great reaction video dudes. After Slayer's album Reign In Blood came out, all of we-us Metal-ers referred to this song, Angel of Death, as the 'Heavy Metal Anthem'..
And what I find both Hilarious AND Incomprehensible at the same time is how SO many people (ESPECIALLY the catholic church), tried to 'claim' at that time (out of PURE IGNORANCE I'd like to point out) that this song glorified the ATROCITIES committed in internment camps during WW2, when in fact the song actually CONDEMNS those actions. From what I remember from an interview article I read at the time, the song is actually like a narrative told from the perspective of someone actually in one of those internment camps and what their fellow detainees had to endure.
And ANOTHER thing that I'd like to point out is that the hitler creature AND it's subordinates were HYPOCRITICS. If, and I stress IF, that hitler thing and it's subordinates actually TRULY believed that "Aryan Superiority" BULLSHIT that was spewing out of the asshole that hitler 'CLAIMED' was his mouth than he would have been in one of those nazi camps also.
    Just remember 2 things:
    1 - hitler was NOT blonde-haired and blue-eyed, but rather it was dark-haired and brown-eyed (and NOT even German for that matter);
2 - hitler was 1/4 Jewish (on its Grandmother's side if I remember correctly).
So essentially, that hitler creature was EXACTLY what it tried to 'claim' was "inferior".
NO race or ethnicity or gender or religion is superior to ANY others. ALL are equal, at least in my opinion anyway.
But regardless, again great reaction video dudes.

You said horro movies are more intense, when they are based on real happenings. Well, watch "Men behind the sun" then. It´s about the special unit 731 of the japanese army, based in China during WW2. They did the same experiments like Mengele did in Auschwitz - it´s pretty hard to watch but still a well made movie

If you made a list of something like "The 100 most metal moments" this one song would have three: The scream, the epic riff in the middle, and the crazy speed up ending
EDIT: I also think this kind of music is the only kind of music that can address the holocaust; I always imagine the trains going in and out of Auschwitz when I listen to it :(

I was thinking at first: She had better not have heard this because that guy's wearing a Slayer shirt, which would kinda muck it up. But ok. 👍
I've seen a "metal reaction" video with a guy wearing a Slaughter (Canada) shirt. Come on.

It is extremely questionable, bordering on human myth that modern science has learned anything vital from Mengele's experiments that we wouldn't have learned in other ways.

Tom Araya was never an operatic singer. You can't just make it up as you go along. His name might sound a bit like aria, but that's about as close as it gets. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
