I was'nt pulling the race card here, just saying that in the comments everyone was talking about lee,and paul was playing the same lines, and no one mentioned him.Paul is a very well known first call studio session man paul jackson jr. is a legend.
Yet you just did. It's your duty as an African American to bring it up, pretend like you don't understand why they get snuffed out for committing heinous crimes, let everyone know you're oppressed and commit crimes and be locked up in order to garner street cred.
Musically , it's great . Lee Ritenour sounded just like he did , on the original Bros. Johson recording .That singer didn't do the song any justice , what so ever . What a shame ....
Much prefer the Bros Johnson version as it is much more cohesive, largely due to vocal ramblings previously mentioned. The guitar solo was never going to be a problem for Lee Ritenour as he did the original version anyway
Naw the singer just needed to stop at certain times and let the instrumental shine and he didn’t! That warbling he did distracted from a really good live musical performance!
I know! I was all like, dude, SHUT UP! 😆...He stomped all over that beautiful orchestrated solo section with his weak mindless babbling riffing...😆 No musical sensibility of when NOT to sing...He ought to have known better, he's up there with some studio giants that knows their stuff!
The band is excellent!! I love Lee Ritenour and this solo. Unfortunately, as mentioned previously, the vocalist was a major distraction.Incredible musicianship, though.
@@JJDPROMEDIAPRODUCTION Most definitely Brothers Johnson did the song wayyyyy better! And you're right I don't understand why Quincy didn't call in the Brothers Johnson and make that song More funkier and popping....thank you for talking to a stranger bro👍 (enjoy your life)
The band and the back up singer's did a great job but the lead "singer" needs to be locked in a room with Mike Tyson for destroying Strawberry Letter 23😂😮😂
BTW I love the studio version of the Brothers Johnson cover of Strawberry Letter #23 but I’ve never heard them do a live version where their vocals were up to snuff. On this one, the singer’s singing voice is good, it’s just that his attempts at scatting sound way off
hardlines4 the Brothers Johnson is the original is it not? That solo was done somewhere before Strawberry Letter 23? if not, Shuggie was the originator.
CeCe Styles Yes Shuggie composed this great song when he was very young, Unfortunately he passed at a young age as well, Lee did his version a little different on the Johnson’s cut :)
Paolo wasn't at his best vocally for this song. At timrs, he sounded like shuggie otis, the song's creator and at other times, he sounded ill prepared!
Shout out to Paul Jackson Jr holding the guitar parts down.. Playing it exactly like the record and Killin the harmony solo section... 💕
This song came out when I was 17. Loved it then, love it now. No one does this song like Brothers Johnson, no one.
One of the most adorable songs!!- classic!

Happy Birthday!!!🎂🎂🎂
Shugie Otis wrote this when he was 17 yrs old!! !
Lee Rittenour FTW 💪💯
Musically , it's great . Lee Ritenour sounded just like he did , on the original Bros. Johson recording .That singer didn't do the song any justice , what so ever . What a shame ....
This is pretty dope 🔥💯
Dude forgot the entire second half of the second verse 😂😂
Much prefer the Bros Johnson version as it is much more cohesive, largely due to vocal ramblings previously mentioned. The guitar solo was never going to be a problem for Lee Ritenour as he did the original version anyway
MAGIC MUSIC! GOOOOOOO
no one noticed paul jackson jr. back there doubling ritenours solo
I noticed.. Paul was playing the parts just like George Johnson of the Brothers Johnson played it..
I caught it !
Naw the singer just needed to stop at certain times and let the instrumental shine and he didn’t! That warbling he did distracted from a really good live musical performance!
Exactly

But it's true!- nobody did it like the original singers!
count the bars man
Who’s the drummer - I like his playing
John jr robinson
The band is excellent!! I love Lee Ritenour and this solo. Unfortunately, as mentioned previously, the vocalist was a major distraction.Incredible musicianship, though.
Actually the singer is Paolo Nutini
How the HELL did he get this gig? LOL my cat sounds better when its in heat making mating calls.
komjong I agree, that idiot had no respect screeching over Lee’s famous guitar solo!!!!
@@komjongExactly! This clown ruined it!
I wonder Quincy just didn't call in the Brothers Johnson.. It's there song. Both George and Louis was active at the time...
This is not the Brothers Johnson song! Shuggie Otis wrote this!
Starr Company Yes, but George Band Louis arrangement put this song on the map..

Brothers Johnson covered it. Original done by Shugge Otis.
The band and the back up singer's did a great job but the lead "singer" needs to be locked in a room with Mike Tyson for destroying Strawberry Letter 23😂😮😂
jr robinson and greg philligane ??
Yep...Q's hit men.
Is this Paolo Nutini?
Yeah I think so. Not his best which is sad because the dude has a goddamn voice!
man, the director real love dem unnecessary close-ups, ent?
I think it was pretty good....it so hard to cover such a great song. Maybe some songs weren't meant to be covered.
Yea like this one😕
He wrote the song... Brothers Johnson covered him. Get it straight.
This song was originally by Shuggie Otis

singer kinda looks like a young Eddie Money
Not bad at all, but Brothers Johnson is the best
He's not THAT bad you guys -- lol
He is beyond terrible!!
Oh , yes he is ! Ruined an otherwise , great live performance .
That’s the closest ive heard it come to the original guitar solo!!
Because that is the man on the recording !!! The great Lee Rittehour !!!
804ktj no it’s not. Shuggie Otis is on the original record. This guy reproduced it very well though.
CeCe Styles Not correct on the Brothers Johnson version it’s Lee! But you are correct on the original it’s Shuggie

Ouch! I would Akons version over this. Only the band is worth hearing...
Paolo wasn't at his best vocally for this song. At timrs, he sounded like shuggie otis, the song's creator and at other times, he sounded ill prepared!
I love Paolo but this just doesn’t fit his stylings
I hope the singer drank too much.
Me thinks he did ! Lol
