- Guitarist George Johnson and bassist Louis Johnson lead The Brothers Johnson on their best known hits during the last recorded performance together. Strawberry Letter #23 (US #5 R&B #1 1977), I'll Be Good To You (4:55) (US #3 R&B #1 1976 produced by Quincy Jones), Stomp (8:48) (US #7 R&B #1 1980), and Get The Funk Out Ma Face (11:13) (US #30 R&B #4 1976) were live on The Brothers Johnson Memorial Day 2003 comeback concert in Oakland, CA.
The funk duo previously split up in 1982 to pursue separate projects then reunited years later. Louis Johnson died in Las Vegas on May 21, 2015.

Yesterday, I woke up with this song in my head. I went to RUclips Google the song. I realized I knew very few of the lyrics. I listened to Strawberry letter the entire day. The lyrics and the guitar solo. I felt like Prince should have been sued. Now I loved me some Prince. It just freaked me out! 🤷♀️🙋🏽♀️
He sounds very good look out for #1 a amazing LP back in the day play it to death.
Saw them in Japan back in 79 or 80 when I was a military Brat in high school.
Thank you!
Love the Brothers Johnson and all these songs. Sound mix …reminds me of a discussion I recently had with a musician friend about how some live sound guys get way carried away with mixing drums Loud
AWESOME❤❤❤❤
4:55 I love this version with the saxophone instead of the studio version with synthesizer. Definitely gives it a funnier sound
