@@markvineyard4149: First time I heard the song it was Jonathan Butler... so it’s hard for me to like other covers of it.., but it’s beautiful nonetheless!!!😀
The first time I heard this was with Average White Band, but when I heard the original off the Body Heat album with Minnie Ripperton singing background I was hooked
You and me both. When i fall in love with a song I tend to scout out the best versions of it and I think this one hits the spot for me. It makes me want to stretch my neck and feel it down my arms. I love music that makes me want to get out of my seat. I am a kindergarten teacher and I use music in all forms. Now, don't get me wrong I can not sing to save my life but I have been impressed with my reach when I am at my most relaxed and try to sing. I was somewhat moved and asked if I could sing a song on stage for my students when they graduated and I think I did good judging by the response. When music moves you and the moment is right I think human form can deliver much to our surprise.
This woman is by far the most Underrated talent in the industry.LEDISI This woman can blow!
It's not ledise, it's Lalah Hathaway
Composed by Leon Ware, Pamela Sawyer
Flute - Alex Hendriksen
Trombone - Michael Flury
Vocals - Ledisi
No one will ever top Ms Minnie Ripperton on this song
Nothing is like the original, but Ledisi, backup, and the band pulled this off.. Pretty good
they handled this one alright more than just pulled it off they blew the top off it. You can feel it. This is a timeless song.
Who sung the original one? I forgot, please help me find the original song
Brought tears to my eyes. This is one of my favorite songs. Didn't think anyone match AWB.
Listen to Jonathan Butler
i think as we live globally the one thing social media affords like-minded people in music, is to link and enjoy and have these conversations of how and where songs hit us at moments when we alone in our head
I like the funk of AWB man.
"If I Ever Lose This Heaven," is from the Quincy Jones album, "Body Heat," 1974.
AWB did a cover. And a very good cover of the song.
im still not losing heaven despite all the failures and misfortune...this song is really meaningful to me..
I'm with you on that, Sherwin!
You got that right

nothing can go wrong with nathan on the bass. everything outstanding in this performance.
I love 💕 this cover the most, it's very very soulful and jazzy and she's fantastic to say the least
I love this redition of this song. The band sounds fantastic and the young Lady and Back ground vocals are amazing.
Everything sounds great.
That young lady would be the one and only Ledisi. Google her.
The Band??? That's a lineup of superstar musicians...
All that Chica Chica noises she's making is throwing this great song off.
Many people have covered this song...This is one of the best 👌
She nailed it !!
You right she nailed it❤❤❤
Dayum!!! They brought it big didn’t they.
Such a great song. Love the recent interpretation from Scott Frankfurt Studio featuring Vi Jordan. It's a showstopper.
Yes, that's the Average White Band version.
Vi is the best!!❤

I didn't think anyone else could sing this better than Minne, this is awesome!
And no one can, this is corny as plaid pants. Listen to this then the original you'll see. But I respect your view

No one and I mean no one can do it better than Minnie riperton sorry
Marta Sanchez does a pretty good cover of this...

If Nathan's playing, its special

Love this version but did this forget the second verse?
nice singer
This is nearly as good as the Average White Band version, all the beat from the old country, cheers, Joe..
Nothing compares to the original version by Leon Ware and Minnie Riperton off of Quincy Jones's "Body Heat" album. Nothing.
Thanks for the head's up, great version, almost as good as the AWB's version on 'Person To Person', Cheers, Joe..
Check out Vi Jordon version. Top notch. It rocks
Nice
Did the singer forget the lyrics to the second verse? She seemed to lay out for the the second verse.

Who is the white, male back-up singer; his face is familiar?

Forgot the words - 2nd verse!
Catherine J.Fusco DO YOU SEE Quincy seated in the audience?
You can tell he thought it was a train wreck
@@nathandehoyos8796 Which it was.
And she try to play it off too.
Hey girl you smashed it such smoothly and sexy
What a voice - notes right on line
Whos the drummer?
Sang this song Ledisi
Who is the bassist (bass guitar) on this piece? He looks familiar.
Nathan East
You mean, the one and ONLY Nathan East I think...🤣
Who’s the vocalist
It's a shame Ledisi didn't let the backing vocals take this at the end, less is more.
Is that the late Al Jerreau doing backup vocals?
NO!
Who is this artist if I may ask?
Her name is Ledisi
Agreed Ledisi is the truth..but she forgot the words.
Twice.
So sad she’s got such a strong voice.
;o)
who was that woman singing ?
Haha. 'That woman' is Ledisi.
ASMR
This is what happens when it's not rehearsed enough
Who's the drummer ???
He is John Robinson.
John Robinson Jr
She forgot the lyric... 😅
Don't disrespect the Q like that in front of his face.
Great way to cover forgetting the words. Sounded great though
I thought this was a great performance, despite forgetting some of the lyrics. ..
She killed it at the end.
Forgot the second verse
My gosh, that lady can sing, i feel the groove in my ass, poehh, love it
