I am Pam Sawyer the cowriter of this song with Leon Ware and it is not the easiest song to get right but It is still one of my own favourites ; these two singers did a really nice job.... .I still prefer Quincy's version which was the very first version and I loved Minnie Ripperton , I also felt so pleased that the producer Quincy Jones captured the feeling we the writer's wrote on "If I Ever Lose This Heaven " and that is always a blessing. And seldom happens 😍
First version still incomparable. And - - I don't know if anyone's told you this, but, as a singer, (as well as listener), I got more pure pleasure from this song than I could ever describe. Better than a favorite lover. *Yummy*. Inestimable gratitude for the ecstasy!
Pamela Sawyer Thank you with Leon for writing this great tune..It is one I have always loved and this cover I feel is a classic. What a rare and wonderful gift you have given to all lovers of good music..💜
This is one of those classic that shouldn't be covered by just anyone because it is easy to f#@$ up. However this duo of Maysa Leak and Johnathan Butler have exceeded my expectations (not sure why I ever doubted them) and certainly received my seal of approval.
This song resonates with my heart and soul for a special someone that I have grown deeply close to. Before I met him I had not loved anyone for many years. Now it's like fireworks, watching the sun rise , candlelights and music, laughing from joy, holding each other In the Heat of passion it's a beautiful thing. b e a u t i f u l beautiful!!!💕💖💘💋
I’ve never heard a bad version of this song! Everyone that does it adds something different & special. I don’t know if I can say that about any other song.
There are some other great songs that have been recorded by several different artists that have added their talented gifts to it. For example: Walk On By by Burt Bacharach
LYRICS: If you're foolin', only foolin' All I ask is "Why?" If you're playin', all I'm sayin' Is feelings sure collide If you're lyin', keep on lyin' Don't tell the truth, don't you dare You can't drop me, 'cause you still got me After takin' me way up there Oh, oh, oh, oh If I ever lose this heaven If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven Whoa, I'll never be the same Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh If I ever lose this heaven If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven Whoa, I'll never be the same When you're kind, extra kind Then suddenly you're crossed You're so moody, you get to me Still can't turn you off You're fascinating, more fascinating Than the dark side of the moon You're so exciting, that I'm re-writing The book of love called "You" Oh, oh, oh, oh If I ever lose this heaven If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven Whoa, I'll never be the same
BEAUTIFUL SMOOTH JAZZ MUSIC LOVE IT AND THE BEAT OUT COLD MAKE U WANT TO HIT THAT DANCE FLOOR OUTSTANDING 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
this is more upbeat with Jonathan Bulter playing guitar feat Maysa doing vocals a lot of singers try to cover original this one I really like they got it right
Drums are a little too weak at the bridge, maybe snare needed on two and four then, more runs on the bass to link sections too, but still a great track.
slapmyfunkybass I think your suggestion might overpower the lightness of the overall sound. it's obvious the definition is in Maysa's force and the bass underlines the whole arrangement. suggestion: listen to the original and see how the creativeness of this arrangement is vibrant and fresh. doesn't sound like they were just trying to 'redo' the song... but created it anew.
Lisa Bembry Fair comments, I do know the original quite well as I absolutely love this track, but I appreciate your feedback. Are you a producer / musician?
Lisa Bembry Ha, nice. Real music indeed. Whereabouts are you from? Hey, I'm not looking for home address here, just country. Just bridging the internet highway :)
slapmyfunkybass No problem mid south eastcoast USA. honestly, i have played some woodwinds years ago. I composed (amateurly) a couple of my favorites for keyboard but no profession status. Aspired to. So really listen for the speaking of the instruments. if you play you got to make them speak. i really like doing that.
2024. Still enjoying this beautiful song ❤❤❤
Many thanks to Pam Sawyer and Leon Ware for a magnificent song! 🤗

For example:
Walk On By by Burt Bacharach
Just so smooth. Beautiful
Deep as the ocean, Wow!!!!
So underated talent..
LYRICS:
If you're foolin', only foolin'
All I ask is "Why?"
If you're playin', all I'm sayin'
Is feelings sure collide
If you're lyin', keep on lyin'
Don't tell the truth, don't you dare
You can't drop me, 'cause you still got me
After takin' me way up there
Oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa, I'll never be the same
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa, I'll never be the same
When you're kind, extra kind
Then suddenly you're crossed
You're so moody, you get to me
Still can't turn you off
You're fascinating, more fascinating
Than the dark side of the moon
You're so exciting, that I'm re-writing
The book of love called "You"
Oh, oh, oh, oh
If I ever lose this heaven
If I ever, ever, ever lose this heaven
Whoa, I'll never be the same
Thank you
VERY VERY GOOD, MAYSA LEAK FAVORITE, THANKS
