      Hi, 500 hours is a fair time to spend in the air, I love the Vancouver float planes, a wonderful way to see the city and nearby islands. If you make to the UK some day, there is a link in the video description if you fancy a ride in glider. Keep flying, all the best from the UK.

      A comparison between the old Slingsby T21 and the modern gliders shows how much the shape has changed over the years.

    As Mum of the boys our holidays revolved round trains and train trips all over the UK and days out flying model gliders and then repairing them. We were brought up on the smell of Dopa . My daughter went along with them, but later she and I enjoyed visiting chateau, castles and houses plus travel. Still though enjoys being with both brothers and their hobbies

    Hello Tim! This is really a fantastic video. I did not know that there is a catapult launch for gliders with rope. I'm seeing you for the first time today. Since August 1966 I have never boarded a plane again. My father and I wanted to spend a holiday in Romania on the Black Sea. We came from Linz but only to Graz. There we had to make emergency landing. The third engine of Illushin 18 caught fire🔥 in the air. Then the holiday had passed us and we took the train home. My dad did the same in a transport plane during the war. He never flew again. Greeting Hans from the Mühlviertel.👍☺

      Hello, winch launching is fun. I will catching a plane to Vienna later this month, hopefully the engines will be OK. I have flown many times round the world to visit my son in New Zealand without a single mishap, just turbulence sometimes. I hope I stay lucky. I have had some hairy flights in small aircraft. On one occasion in the Canadian Rockies I thought I was going to to meet my maker, when we finally landed, I swore I'd never fly again, a week later I took a flight in a small float plane to overcome my fear, fortunately it was a very smooth and pleasant flight. I've used Euro-tunnel, air, hovercraft, hydrofoil and ferry to reach Europe, the sea provides the biggest challenge, one 30 minute hovercraft crossing ended up taking 2 hours, all the cars on board were damaged and most of the passengers looked pretty ill when we finally landed. Virtual travel from the comfort of your home is safest, Take care. Tim.

      @@Timsvideochannel1 Thank you for your message, Tim. I believe that flying has become safer. You are martial arts tested. Have tried everything in life. I've been watching all your videos for the past few years. There is almost nothing left that you have not seen. It's good Tim that there are people like you who let us in on your videos. I hope that Google Translater has worked properly, my English is not that good. But you know that. I sit in the cellar in front of my tablet and smoke one. That's all I need for me. I have already written over 100 comments for you. Believe me, they are all nicely meant. Keep it up, Tim and keep your ears stiff. Best regards from Hans.

      @@johannperaus6890 Hello Hans, flying is safe today, its a regular means of transport, not that different to getting on a bus. I've been lucky enough to enjoy some of the amazing places and sights the world has to offer, I hope to see a few more before I hang my boots up for the last time. Sharing my experiences is a double pleasure, first off I get to re-live everything as I edit these videos together, secondly I enjoy peoples reactions to the videos. To some people these videos remind them of their own experiences, others see places and include them in their own travel itineraries, whilst the majority of comments are from people who just like to see parts of the world not normally seen on TV. Google translate does a good job, some languages such as Chinese are not successful, others such as Korean translate to English well. I'd be lost without Google Translate. I always appreciate your comments. Best wishes. Tim.

    Just find this. O my this take me back when I was 14 Now 67. It was when I first went up in a Sligby as an Air Cadet and my second was in a Zedburg which is when you sit just like those modern ones and I also remember saying where is my parachute and the Officer said in this type of plane you don't use one. You just fly to the ground anyway. OMG. I made it as you can see. From my text. He He. Good Old Day's. Must try and find out where I can do it. I am in Devon.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  5 лет назад

      Hi, the Slingsby often attracts comments along the lines of "that takes me back", especially from interested passers by. Air Cadets still enjoy gliding today. I wear a parachute, even in a modern powered glider, can never be too careful. Its good that you survived your early gliding experiences. This glider is based in West Sussex, I have included a link in the video description should you decide you'd like to take a flight in it, although I recommend waiting for good weather.

    This is how we used to do it back in the 60's 😎👍
    Remember going to Tangmere air field when I was a kid and a member of the Air Training Corps. 2351 Squadron, Bognor Regis. CO was Flt Lt Bell (Dinger) 😃

      I used watch the planes take off and land at Tangmere, they were usually flying to far off places like Thorney Island. My father took cine-film of the last ever air show at Tangmere, I've got it on video somewhere. I went to Oving school, as you can probably guess, I'm no youngster, but it's nice to remember the villages when they were still alive with, Shops, a Mushroom Farm, Clubs, a Post Office, a Village Policeman and a Church with a Resident vicar. One of my daughters was a member of Bognor ATC for a couple of years.

      Yeah the good old days 😃
      I was from Bognor and my wife was from Westhampnett. I remember going to Tangmere air show in the 60's 😎
      I remember the Blackburn Beverly and Armstrong Whitworth Argosy planes circling and doing para' drops over the field. Later on just before the base was shut down I used to watch the C130 Hercules doing the cargo drops on the runway. Nostalgia 😀

      @@bobthompson4918 As a kid I used to fish for Stickleback fish on the Oving side of the airfield in a gravel bed stream and watch the aircraft come and go, if memory serves me correctly it was usually Argosy planes. The very last airshow finished with the deafening roar of Vulcan bombers preforming a flypast, childhood memories are a bit hazy, wish I could time travel to witness those moments again. Today even the gravel bed stream has disappeared as farmers extract water to irrigate their crops.😃

    Hello Tim, your video remind me to my childhood. There were quite a few clubs for gliders and light aircrafts near my hometown at border of Bavarian Wood which often show feats on air days. (I learned gliding is an exclusiv because expensive and time-consuming sport.) Nevertheless I wish you and your brother to enjoy your hobbies as long as possible. - Greetings, Heinz
