Why do Audiologists on youtube never even mention the possibility of remission?? Is it to sell courses on CBT? I feel revolted how you and ben thompson make thumbnails with that very same question (eg. 'Is it permanent' in this one) and never mention it on the videos. Seems to me like praying on those who are suffering.
I have nothing to sell. It's possible for tinnitus to resolve completely, especially in the early stages after an acute onset. After about 6 months it's more likely that it will remain present but you will acclimate and hear it significantly less.
I agree with you, my tinnitus spikes up for a day or two and than the hissing sound I hear goes right down for a few days. I've read about a couple of people who's tinnitus had resolved. Tc
I have had mild tinnitus for 4 months, which I no longer notice in some situations. After two exhausting months, it was the testimonials from people who have managed to get rid of the tinnitus even after a long time that helped me to accept my current situation without panicking about the 6-month deadline. And yes, when it's constantly talked about in that way, it feels like a deadline. It still doesn't seem clear why some people have managed to get rid of tinnitus even after a long time. But could it be that the subconscious has little chance of breaking out of this cycle if you are constantly being told that it is unlikely?
Thank you Dr, Brad Stewart for your advices.

I say the best way to deal with tinnitus is ignoring it
Mild tinnitus yes , catastrophic no

This only works for mild/moderate cases, not severe/catastrophic.
