Yeah i saw the devs letter "Family First" the whole team really love MCU. All the departments are just fangirling. There's so much deep cut references.
It's unfortunate that the MCU hasn't been able to capture that Marvel Universe feel anymore. I'm a huge fan of the movies but do agree that they don't always capture the appeal of certain characters/storylines. Like the Secret Invasion tv show? Terrible. I do have hope for the future after the MCU seems to be improving in overall quality with more character driven stories and team up movies in the future. I just hope they can do Dr. Doom well since the past two movie iterations failed to understand the character. And finally, they can put an end to multiverse movies with Secret Wars and soft reboot with the fantastic four and x-men being in the MCU
I’m not a huge Marvel fan but I SUPER agree about the whole MCU thing! Everything Marvel-related was like the MCU. The Guardians of the Galaxy are my favorite Marvel characters, mostly because of the MCU but it’s SO COOL to see a Star Lord design that doesn’t look like Chris Pratt at all. And his lore is apparently more comic accurate. It makes me so happy for all the hardcore Marvel fans who love the comics. I’m pumped to learn about obscure Marvel characters I’ve never heard of.
If DC does bring something out, I hope they focus on the whole PvE thing. It will make their game stand out more while also utilizing the various movement based powers a lot of them have.
All DC cares about is Batman, Batman, and Batman Whether it be the character himself (Arkham series), support characters from his lore (Gotham Knights), or his rogues gallery (Suicide Squad)…. Ppl say they want DC to do something similar, but guarantee when it comes time to construct the roster…..Batman, characters from his lore, and his rogue’s gallery will be sucking up majority of the oxygen in the room and filling most of the spots at the character selection.
Great video! I also main hulk. If you didn't know this, I would like to let you know this Hulk tip. You can charge the jump and keep it charged indefinitely. AND you can use your auto attack and any of your abilities while you are charging jump or holding your jump. This lets you leap around much more often. Attack an enemy here, jump away. When you land start charging jump and punch your opponents or shield your allies, then after your done, you have a full jump ready to go. TLDR: charge and store your jump WHILE you attack and use your other abilities.
When you get something we DONT know come back update us 😂 no seriously though it's very helpful and will advance the development of new tactics in the total rivals moveset 🗣️
@blackamericandestroyergod1957 I felt like he didn't know that as he was never pre charging his jump. I'm trying to help him, not whoever you are. Anyway season 1 let's goo
I think one of the things the developers have done that is very smart is how they've tackled the "tank" problem. With really few exceptions, tanks (or Vanguards, if you prefer) in Rivals have much more active and energetic playstyles, instead of just standing in front of your team, blocking damage. Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Venom, even Peni are all very mobile characters and their playstyles are usually about disruption and drawing attention to let the rest of your team do their jobs. I think this, the relative variety of DPS (aka Duelist) characters and the presence of team-up abilities is why role queue really isn't needed in this game. I also think this stepping away from strict genre conventions will also free the developers to get creative with their designs. Just look at the recent reveal of Mr. Fantastic. He's classed as a "Duelist" but he has 350 base HP, has abilities that can deflect damage and grant allies bonus health and even has a "tanky" form that gives him a health pool as large as a Vanguard. Having Mr. Fantastic on your team is almost like having a damage-dealer that can add a little bit of support and off-tanking as well. There's Storm (a DPS/Duelist) that grants her team movement and damage boosts. It's a design space that I think the developers know gives them a lot more room for unique ideas.
Yep And braindead journos called it "lack of clearly defined roles". Which is bs, because no one want to be "clearly defined" bullet sponge or healbot. People come into action games to kick asses, and every character should be able to do so. So three roles are "kick asses + draw enemy focus", "kick asses + heal/buff allies" and "kick asses + kick asses". And as you pointed out, roles can blend, and duelists can also sometimes able to do some tanking/supporting just as vanguards and strategists are not harmless for the enemy, nor passive.
The vanguards in higher play block damage for healers and they can shoot from there while divers flank when vanguards push and finally DPS stops healers from being dived by flankers
As a strategist, I PRAY that we never get role queue, we get people who instalock sometimes but no role queue opens the game up to a near infinite amount of surprising synergies and comps
I’ve never been great at these kinds of games, but I think that proves how good and beginner friendly Rivals is. I’m never gonna even try Overwatch but get me on Rocket and I’ll play Rivals any day
Meanwhile, I'm pretty much where I want to be, as a Vanguard. I started playing OW1 around 2017, and ended up as Rein main, since he was the only real main tank on ladder. Overtime, tanking became worse and worse though, so before Rivals released, I was a flex player. To be fair, the signs were there from the start of how bad tanking in Overwatch would be. So much BS in that game a tank can't do anything about, and that's just talking about release Overwatch. Rivals by comparison is a breath of fresh air for me. Even Cap has his moments where you just live despite having no business being alive. And now we have Mister Fantastic as a new Vanguard to add to my roster. And before anyone mentions he's a Duelist, NetEase is lying to you. I can honestly say, I'm home
hulk main here, always have your jump charged up, always and try to jump and get up to the enemies face as much as possible (mb if this is redundant advice, I saw you just walking in the b-roll and it felt weird since you're supposed to fly across the screen over and over as hulk)
I just wish there was a melee strategist. As an Iron Fist main, I can play the other melee Duelists pretty well (expect for Spiderman...); but because of that, I'm able to play a few vanguards too. Specifically Captain America. Its very easy to transition Duelist skills into vanguards. But, strategists are such a different ball park that I get overwhelmed when I try to play any of them. I wish there was a way to transition in an easier way into healer so I can be more helpful 💀. I've actually thought of a tone of characters who could be a melee strategist because the idea feels so easy. Miles Morales to get Spiderman and Venom players to heal. Jane Fost"thor" for the same reason but for Thor players. Spitfire as an obscure choice with an interesting mechanic (speed). Morbius because people would play him for the meme, so you'd get tons of people to actually learn strategist. Etc. Theres a lot of potential there.
I thought that the only missing from him was his cape but once had an enemy thor and saw how godly he was already, it makes me realize its the best design for him
It’s a great game. Personally I still prefer Overwatch but rn I’m balls deep with rivals and I’m uploading videos weekly. I might go back to Overwatch at some point but right now rivals is where it’s at.
The MCU's real problem is they hate the source material, the writers and actors get told to not read the comics. Mix that with wanting to preach an agenda that wasn't needed changing characters that were great. There are so many stories and characters out there. They keep trying to push an agenda of inclusivity into nerd hobbies that were already accepting of all comers, Everyine wants faithful characters to what they were in the comics. MCU bruce is a loser compared to the bruce of the comics
@@Spacen1213 comics Bruce is a mess of a character effectively you cannot plop his character into a new series completely faithfully (Joe fixit, and his massive catalog of alternate egos) like I think the basic hulk that’s most commonly portrayed in the animated tv shows is just superior at least in terms of not being a mess to plot when he’s not the focus
This isn't 100 percent true. A lot of actors/writers are encouraged to read the comics if they want to though they have said they don't want to hire people who are fans/love Marvel for some reason, the only one where they told the writers not to read the comics is Secret Invasion as they never intended to properly adapt that comic which I semi understand as that comic can't be adapted as spy thriller mini-series but it was definitely a mistake to not read at all, since there is a lot of elements that could have been used in that show, and it shows in that show being one of the worst Marvel Studios products ever.
I had to be a bit political. But nowadays games and Hollywood somethimes keep listening to the loud community and wanted to please them. Instead to make something fun and less political. A good example why Marvel Rivals succeed. Maybe because it was made outside of the west influcence? 🙄
