I love the lore and world building in Rivals. It’s so cool that they actually thought about the in-universe explanation of the game. I spent literally 2 hours the other night reading all the lore pages of each hero, and the mini stories that get added in the gallery. Crazy how they’d already set up Dracula and him taking over New York before the season was revealed.
Yeah, literally the first story i read was Spider-Man's, and it's about him teaming up with the Human Torch and Blade against Dracula. After that it was so funny to see people get excited because there's a hint of the Fantastic Four in a trailer, speculating if they're coming to the game. Yeah they are. They're already in the story...
20:45 actually the tf2 lore does have an explanation (but i forget where it says this). The game is a "video game documentary" in universe. essentially the tf2 universe has its lore, then people in-universe made the game tf2 to 'document' the Gravel Wars as an experience rather than a movie or book. the lore explanation is literally 'its just a game' lmao
Actually I have heard voicelines in Overwatch around killing a doppelgänger opponent, the most notable I know of being Tracer and Widowmaker both claiming that the person they killed was a paradox or imposter respectively. (The imposter thing happens on multiple characters I just used those two as examples) Not a lore thing, but I did find it funny that the person brought up the Rivals voicelines and not the Overwatch ones. Could just be because, like they said, it’s not technically canon, but I wanted to point it out anyway. Also I gotta say I love the Flats reacts content because you actually seem so immersed and your reactions are much more genuine than what I’m used to on the internet. Keep up the good work man.
Hey that seems like a pretty cool up-and-comer RUclipsr you’re reacting to 😅 cool to see my video being seen by the GOATs! Thanks Flats! (Ignore my inaccuracies I’m still learnjng)
You didn’t mention my favorite bit of Dead by daylight. The game director when on a live talk earlyish in the game saying that killers were in a fine state and survivors were not over powered, for context the flashlight blinds were extremely easy to hit and lasted way too long, loops were very survivor favored, and the game was so dark certain skins were actually impossible to see in dark corners which every map is covered in. That doesn’t mention all the busted perks at the time but to get back to the story the director was told to put his money where his mouth is and play a few killer games live, he did and stomped every way imaginable. To be clear he wasn’t a bad player i believe his rank on killer at the time was around plat equivalent (I don’t remember the actual name) which was about top 30% of players. After that embarrassment the game quickly got balanced in the killers favor. Still one of my favorite parts of early DBD development.
I like that Deadlock doesn't have mirror matches. No lore explanation required if you don't allow it Originally in MTG, you couldn't have the same legendary card on your opponent's side at the same time, so some players would play a legendary card unrelated to their own deck specifically as a way to remove their opponent's card
Nah thank you for immediately pointing that out for me flats because the big problem with games rn is how everyone wants to be treated the same but still be treated like a gamer too, when the biggest differences are that simulators arent video games because the focus is more realism than fun and video games are supposed to be fun and sure people can find fun in competitive areas but that doesnt change the fact that competitive games are supposed to be competitive and competitive and fun are not the same thing and thats what im getting to, that not only has everything changed more recently because of fortnite but thing have been changing for awhile now because of all of that needless competitive drive so many people seem to have and misconstrued as fun and motivation when you're not actually having fun you just think you're having fun because when you have a easy likelihood of winning it signals to the average mind that you are better than the person you beat and that's what makes you think you're having fun is that you think you are better than other people because of how often you can win in a video game against actual people when real people that actually know how to have fun actually taken all these extra details they actually think about what makes them have fun in every aspect possible so they can then maximize their fun instead of constantly crawling and crawling and climbing to just barely taste it once again by getting one more win after some kind of 20-game lost streak endless dissect that for a second 20 standard multiplayer competitive games are going to be about 20 to 30 minutes each and when you do get up into those High ranks you can go on a pretty big losing streak because of this overall 50/50 bulshit I mean the point is that you're always going to have a 50/50 percent chance and when probability has no memory that 50/50 chance can be the bad option for quite a long time so 20 minutes * 20 games that's 6 hours of not having fun just so you can have fun for 10 seconds after finally getting a win and that's the problem with competitive multiplayer gamers they don't see their value they don't see the time they have being as limited as it is all they see is a single goal that is merely possible for the sake of no other reason than just bragging rights when it's going to be 5000 other people that have those same bragging rights as you every single time I can admit I am having so much fun on Marvel Rivals just like everyone else but it's because I remembered how much competitive is the enemy of fun when it comes to these multiplayer games because all that system does is dial in your matchmaking stricter and stricter so that every game becomes basically the same thing as a competitive game whereas if you simply stay out of competitive every match will have will be just as random as when you first started let's go ahead and bring it up anyways since this comment is too long for anyone to read OverWatch is PVE mode is the same thing of 20 to 30 minutes yet all you have to do is play it one time and determine to yourself is that fun enough to play again or not not constantly grind out whatever rank you hope to achieve not constantly look for friends so that they can join you in your addiction until you get a high enough rank that you feel good about yourself with just a single 30 minutes of fun to decide if it's worth continuing or not and that's what competitive Gamers as I already said are missing half the time that they don't understand how to Value their own time every single mother f***** on every video game ever thinks that they've genuinely achieved something by being the top 10 players on some competitive multiplayer game when realistically you may have adapted some sort of skill when it comes to just playing video games but you have genuinely not achieved much at all in the eyes of the rest of the world especially when it's supposed to be considered a sport and not even a hundred people know your name keep in mind that I do wish Esports was a successful business but even with that it just doesn't make any sense at all that somehow that business is failing but the overall gaming industry is still focused so hard on feeding the competitive multiplayer Gamers so that they can rinse them of every single dollar possible all because they don't believe in value they believe in rank
LOL, 10:00 IS FUNNY BUT REAL. DBD's and OW2 community are alike but they also have people who just watch and enjoy there game. that's why you got to pick who you watch carefully. I watch you for overwatch (not anymore because OW is.... OW ). LOVE YOU flats :)
He should absolutely check out the works of Thorgi's Arcade in the near future! Whether he goes with Build the Roster, Fighting Game Retrospectives, Let's Make a Sequel, Thorgiween, any of them are bangers! He'd love it!
I love how Flats hasn't played a second of dead by daylight but can describe the community so accurately as someone that likes to have fun I never really care about those kinds of things but one thing that should definitely terrify you even more so is the rocket League community strictly because they have none of those reasons to be upset at each other yet they are just as upset if not more upset at their own community members more than any other gaming franchise out there
as an ex-dbd player I sadly put 1347.5 hours in the game I'll say I wish I never even bought the game because over the span of 7 years the game just went downhill and the community like you said basically would have a bitch fit about the other roll if they didn't like how they were playing and basically made this fake list of "survivors can and can't do this" or "killers can /can't do this" and the game somehow has a playerbase but every other game that comes into the asymmetrical genre the dbd community basically ruins by either review bombing it or trash the player to kill the game
That really is killing me so hard mainly because I don't even read comic books I don't even read books so I've never picked up a comic book a day in my life but even I can understand from a writing perspective it only makes sense to assume that every single costume is from a different universe I guess I'm more so upset that the average RUclipsr is still completely ignorant to the rest of the world because of how much they focus on their job and nothing else like all of the funnier older popular RUclipsrs would always get called out on not being up-to-date with the memes or the trends or the ideas that everyone else is spewing all over the internet whereas now all of the streamers that are like the best of the best of every multiplayer game out there have no idea about any of the television based content that goes viral all the time because they are actually decent pieces of content and again it's up to the fans to just yell at them and remind them to actually take part in watching that content so that they can be up to date with all of the lore because to me it's just never made sense how you can play video games especially for living but not watch any of the TV horror movies based on those video games because you got to understand at least from the average viewers perspective they are going to assume this is like your entire job is to know about this thing that you post about a lot from every angle possible so when you're known for being funny on the internet people expect you to hear about everything that's funny on the internet and when you're known for playing a specific video game because you're very good at it they expect you to know all of the lore on that video game because why the f*** are you so good at it if you don't even give a s*** about it
Not shot this whole time he hasnt even notice the spider weaver such a competitive mindset, dont enjoy or think about the details just focus on how fun killing actually people can be
I think he over-complicated things for the Rivals lore. Basically, it's the Multiverse. There are different versions of a given character from different universes/timelines. Also, costumes in Rivals have a "First Appearance" notation that indicates whether they're from a past comic, movie, TV show, or are Marvel Rivals originals.
You're right to fear DBD's playerbase, it's a toxicity war at all times between the two sides, and the survivor in-fighting is also rampant, it's the only game that has a side with a made up 'rulebook' that dictates how the other should play, otherwise they start going in. DBD is a cesspit worse than Moba's, I play Smite, it's bad, it's nowhere near as bad as my time with DBD.
Dead by daylight is in a terrible spot right now killer are up exponentially and survivors is unfun, the speed difference is ridiculous, killers are op, the game doesn’t update the game with anything really new no new way to escape, every new survivor is not good but every killer is good, a bad killer can win games easy
Been playing dbd since before they added freddy (aka really early on) gotta say youre spot on with the description of our community so glad i found a better game to play
With the final TF2 comic released i would love to see Flats react to the lore and the absolute batshi things that go on in-universe
How it Feels series, Meet the Team (and the other official Valve stuff), and finally, Overwatch vs TF2 (both of them).
Once I found out that The Medic literally finessed Satan and Scout met God, that’s all I needed to know.
TF2 mentioned 🔥🔥🔥
The final comics out?

i wanted the achievement for reading the lore pages for the achievement rewards but ended up enjoying and reading thru all of them

That Hag game was legendary. Flashlights 🔦 were never the same after that match.
i rly want flats to read out the character lore pages now. i love seeing him delve deeper into the lore and actually noticably care about it!

As someone who's inside the Dead by Daylight community
yeah flats was so right
I watch a lot of reaction content, this may be the first time I’ve ever just said “bro just play the video” over 5 times 💀
as an ex-dbd player I sadly put 1347.5 hours in the game I'll say I wish I never even bought the game because over the span of 7 years the game just went downhill and the community like you said basically would have a bitch fit about the other roll if they didn't like how they were playing and basically made this fake list of "survivors can and can't do this" or "killers can /can't do this" and the game somehow has a playerbase but every other game that comes into the asymmetrical genre the dbd community basically ruins by either review bombing it or trash the player to kill the game

That dbd outside view is so fucking accurate lmfaoooo flats has seen the hell that is that community I am glad I don’t play the game anymore

Still waiting for Flats to rank ZZZ character demo's
about dead by daylight, Behaviour (the developer) tends to be rather slows with fixes, I am talking years here
as someone with 7k hours in dbd you are not wrong
In dead by daylight the devs have said there goal is to piss you off so you come back to try again, it's actually just all toxic as shit
Warframe is like any other MMORPG, if you're not gonna sink a butt load of time into it, you're probably not gonna enjoy it as much
Dude was reaching lmao it’s solely for not locking people out there character idk why he mentioned microtransactions
Hey I’m a bit early this time
25 sec
Only 100 views in 6 mins bro tell off
Been playing dbd since before they added freddy (aka really early on) gotta say youre spot on with the description of our community so glad i found a better game to play
