    I just ordered 2 sets of the vertical vent window seals for my old 60s power wagons, so glad I finally found the only replacement around. I was giving up hope… I got them thru Detroit muscle technologies. Also got all the windshield and rear window seals for both trucks. Santa is bringing it all to me this weekend!!

    Excellent video tutorial! Vent windows are one of those things that seem so intimidating. Thanks for the step by step instructions and for making it look so easy. We'll be tackling the vent windows on our '66 Bronco soon.

    Thanks for posting this. The last vent type is also tricky, since the vent window has to be positioned just so before it will pop out of its position in the window frame. There are some tabs on the post that need to be aligned properly with the hole the post goes through. Would have been nice to see how you guys do that. Also, on the rubber division seals that have the tabs, it is not possible (that I can see) to bend those over without removing the felt channel - something not covered in this or other videos. I ended up using a good weatherstrip sealer for that part of it and hopefully that will be good enough. The felt on my vents are in good shape so I didn't want to change it out.

      You’re right, that last one is the trickiest just because everything is locked in place with rivets. To remove the glass, you may need to drill some out. With this setup, there is a small L-bracket right where the bottom of the vent frame meets the vertical channel. You have to drill out a couple rivets and that allows the frame enough flex to remove the glass. There may be another way, but that’s what I can tell from looking at this frame. You’re also right about the tabs on the division post, you need to remove, or in some cases you can just pull back the vertical channel. We do show that in this video: ruclips.net/video/PL0O7VM36SI/видео.html
      Hope this helps and let us know if you know another way to remove that vent glass!

    good video Danny. However, though you do make it seem easy, in reality some vent windows have got a difficult process to replace the seal like a 66 Dodge Dart convertible. I just do not know how to remove the vent glass as it doesn't use any nut with spring at the bottom. Everything seems riveted. I can't even find any info on this anywhere for assistance. Hope you can help. Cheers.

    • @SteeleRubberProducts

      Your vent windows are tougher than the spring nut set up. You should ask someone who's very familiar with that type of installation, you can try restoration specialties - they sell the rivets you'll need to use when putting the assembly back together. Or any car builder that specializes in MOPARS. We suggest to not tear anything apart until you have the rivets to put it back together as they can be hard to get ahold of. We hope this helps some, sorry we don't have more information for you. If you do have further questions our specialists could answer them for you via email at cars@steelerubber.com. We don't have a video just for your car but maybe we can help.
      If you car is a convertible or hard top your vent window wont have a frame, if its a sedan it will. If it has a frame look for some screws on the side of the window facing the A pillar and remove those. If no frame you can skip that step.
      Next, remove the door panel. Look for 2 bolts holding the vent window assembly in- you'll need to remove those. Then roll the door window all the way down and then lift the assembly up and turn it in toward the car and wiggle it out. Again, if you have a hardtop or convertible this will be easier, a sedan will be more challenging.
      You can check out the method on this video we did on a truck ruclips.net/video/PL0O7VM36SI/видео.html I know it's not a car and the setup will be a little different but the method of turning and maneuvering the assembly out of the door should be similar and will hopefully help you figure it out.
      If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to us here at cars@steelerubber.com or 800-544-8665 and we'll guide you through it as best we can. Thanks for watching!

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  2 года назад

      Hey Ronald, for that particular car, I’m not certain. Typically you would have a garnish molding that goes around the interior side of the window. This molding would be held in place with screws and hold the glass up against the body of the car. If you remove that molding, the glass should come free, then you can replace the seal. This is simply based off what I know about vehicles that age and glass using a basic U-seal. If this is not how your window works, take some pictures and send them to us so we can look at it! You can send them via social media or email them to us directly at contact@steelerubber.com

      We don't have a video specific to the 67 Chevelle but it's very similar to the Corvair vent window in this video at the 1:26 mark. Also, the washers provide a buffer between the bracket and the spring. One of the washers has an oblong hole so it rotates with the pivot rod. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    how hard is it to get the wind glass out of the chrome frame does it press in or does it glue in

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  3 года назад

      Hey Robby, it can be a little tricky to get out. It is pressed in, it will be taken out the same way it is installed. Just take a soft faced hammer with a wood block or wedge and place up against the frame and gently tap the block/wedge to knock the metal frame off. If you have any further questions or trouble getting it out please email us at contact@steelerubber.com, thanks for watching!

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  5 лет назад +1

      You are right but when we were working on this particular window, it had a bolt in it (someone may have worked on it before us and modified it). While the correct thing to use is a step rivet, you can also use a semi tubular rivet, which is easy to find at any hardware store. Thanks so much for watching! If we can answer any more questions, please let us know.

    I have a 1966 chevelle 2 door. Do I really have to take out the whole vent window assembly to replace the weather stripping

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  5 лет назад

      Yes. There are 2 pivot points on your vent window- in order to change out the weatherstripping you have to take the window out of the frame. In order to do that you'll have to loosen up a bolt that's located underneath the vent window, down inside the door so you'll have to remove the assembly to get to it. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching- if you have any other questions, please let us know!

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  5 лет назад

      We're tucking the rubber bead on the outside of the vent window in to the metal channel of the vent window frame. We're using the plastic tool to help push the rubber in. It's better to use plastic to do this than metal so it won't puncture the rubber. Here is a photo to help illustrate this better:

      Our apologies for that not being clear in the video. Thank you for watching- we appreciate your feedback! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
