  • Removing the vent window glass on a 1967 Chevelle/El Camino. Replacing the glass and weather stripping isn't too difficult a task, but there is VERY little info on how to do it. I searched Team Chevelle, Google and some other muscle car forums looking for a "how to" write up or video and came up empty.
As I mentioned in the video, just take your time. Working with glass isn't the easiest thing in the world for someone who isn't very patient, but it can be done.
I tried several different products that were recommended to me in forums and in the searches I did prior to starting on this. NONE of them worked very well, or perhaps I am not experienced enough in the installation of them. I found a local glass shop that does some muscle car installs and he used a product that he said is only available to professionals. No clue what that is/was, but it turned out perfect! In the future, I don't think I'd attempt what I did. Just take it to a pro and save a lot of time, money and effort.

Got lucky...weatherstrip was in great shape. All I needed was a clean-up and replace glass. After multiple passes with a razor and a heat gun the old glass was easily removed. My glass pro advised using urethane sealer instead of the tape...worked out wonderful. Trick was to let the urethane set-up and later trim excess with a razor.

Did you make a video on how to remove the vent window assembly from the door?

@@MuscleCarSolutions thanks for your prompt reply. I have found no videos other than mention to remove the three fasten pointes and there was no need to remove the main window in order to remove the vent. I have removed the two bolts in the jam and the nut in the panel yet I still cant get the window out

@@MuscleCarSolutions no I did not. Read somewhere online it was not necessary. So I'm guessing I'll be taking the windows out also

Yes. Chevelle and el Camino wing windows are different in a few ways. Same process applies to either.
