Is there anything more beautiful than seeing a free man work at his passion. These two simple men exemplify rugged American individualism as it’s best. They don’t need millions of dollars in machinery. A DOS-based CAD program works just fine too. This is what REAL engineering and ingenuity looks like. Bravo.
One word: RESPECT! Respect to you for your efforts on this great vid and respect to this father-and-son team who have been churning unique and innovative stuff as their trademark!
Amazing work. I had the opportunity to work with Grant many years ago when he designed and made wooden drums. His knowledge and craftsmanship of everything he built was astounding. Grant often designed and built his own jigs; quite often he built the tools he needed to make what he was building. He always held a high standard for the work he did and had a deep appreciation for detail.
@@adamlykkegaard7289 yeah he started his own little company. I think it is called "knafs" I know they make a little takedown that and then some other things. I definitely miss Ben and Zack both. I really like Kurt, and hoping they find another solid host for knife banter. Knifecenter takes a little bit more of the informative only route but part of bladehq's formula is the entertainment factor.
For some reason this video puts you in a good mood. Every fathers dream to have such a good relationship with his son ( or daughter). Very well done. Love these guys.
This is my favorite video on RUclips. Every so often I have to watch it again. Such a great story. Such great guys. And such a well put together production.
I've never been a fan of non ordinary knives and locking mechanisms, but this video made me realize how much work, trial and testing, and passion these guys put into their knives designs. Loved it! thanks!
That was without a doubt the coolest shop, story, people, and product I have ever seen. I had no idea that you guys designed for so many other makers. Well done gents
There are some really good vid's on RUclips. And then there are outstanding ones. This one is so far above anything else out there. Way beyond outstanding. Ben, you did a fabulous job. Loved it, everything about it.
WOW! What a beautiful craftmanship. Love the way can see how the mechanisms work, almost like steampunk. You guys should be very proud of yourselves, but you don't strike me as the type. Hats off! Seems like a wonderfull way to live.
Absolutely mesmerizing! Such ingenuity in their actions. I'm a knifemaker, and the level of engineering in those actions is ridiculous! Truly groundbreaking.
Crazy to think that some knife makers have huge expensive machines that almost take the craftsmanship out of knife making. This guy lived out of a truck for years and makes knives with machines from early manufacturing! True knife makers
Nice to have the people making the video be truly in the background and let the makers shine. This style of video is really enjoyable, do more of this, and less bro giggle fest.
Great video guys! I clicked it anticipating I would only watch a minute or so, and ended up watching the whole thing! If you guys are ever in Canada, give me a shout and I'll walk you through my shop! :)
I'm amazed at who they are. He's just an old-timey miner who lived in a tent for years, and moved on to making batshit crazy knives? Awesome. I'd always assumed they'd be like like the grimsmo brothers, but even more technical. Nope, just a man and his son in a very homely vintage workshop. So cool
Really loving this run of videos as they show us a part of the knife industry that we might never see otherwise. Thanks for the great work and great videos
Guys, ya'll are amazing! What you have developed (I just purchased your QuarterMaster QTR 11-TT General Lee Texas Tea Model), and to say that you're way ahead of innovation is an understatement. Although I have ordered it from BladeHQ, I haven't yet received it; it's due to arrive by this weekend. Sort of a newbie in the Knife collection hobby having been collecting only about two years now; but have accumulated well over 100 knives so far. I decided early on that I would vary my collection, and the result is that I've bought everything from Custom hand-forged hunting knives (from the best bladesmiths), to flippers, and recently to the new OTF types by MicroTech, Piranha, and the like, and was really taken in by the QTR 11-TT. Amazing, innovative, and can't wait to get my hands on it! Undoubtedly this will put me on the "Hawk bandwagon"! BTW, this is a great video.
This is an amazing production, of real people doing Incredible things. I am a new found knife lover. I have to say that out of all the research I have done. this channel has done more for fueling my interest in knives than any other facet I have been able to find. Thank you very much.
Great video; love seeing a father and son working so well together, They are both arists !!!. Dig the power wagon ambulance, been wanting that exact truck for years....keep up the great vids, well shot, informative and inspiring !!!.
Who would have thought Mining Claims and a TeePee (Apparently it's genetic.)??? 100% Brilliant! I hope you stay as well grounded while achieving your dreams! Thanks Grant and Gavin and BladeHQ
Excellent video. I really enjoyed the history of the company and designers, which only makes me want the knives more. You guys at Blade HQ continue to impress me.
I been in this guy's exact shop my family has been friends with these guys since before I was born. Grant still rolls his own cigarettes by hand, and if he can't smoke in a restraunt he won't eat there.
What an awesome video...very much appreciate you putting this together. Like it's been said, the atmosphere is just right. Love how they work together & the designs they have come up with. Great piece all around.
I really enjoyed this video. Aside from the interesting topic of knife design and knife making, I have to say that the efforts on acoustic guitar are well worth hearing. You may never earn a penny playing, and maybe have no interest in that, but don't ever stop playing because you most definitely have something to say with six strings.
G and G got me in to Knives when I saw my first E.T.. It took me over a year to find a a E.T.. ( a G&G E.T. not a kershaw) Im so happy you guys at Blade HQ made this movie, every one thinks CRK, Strider and Todd Begg, but these guys come up with some of the best knives. Still looking for a ZT Mudd got any hidden away?
Wow just an outstanding video, great people, great info and stories and the camera work and post edititng just awesome, well done and big thank you for sharing
You really outdid yourself on this one. Gavin is a great guy, and I hope a Beetle is my next knife. Keep it up! I'll be sharing this with the guys at work in the morning... :)
love these tours. keep it up blade hq you guys are my go to knife supplier. Good job ben for applying videography the the knife industry =) love the feel of this vid
Beautiful craftsmanship. Love the otf deadlock double edge. Only wish I could afford one. Unfortunately I'm disabled with no income. But it can't hurt to dream right?
Awesome video. Such an amazing contrast between their production and Chris Reeve's. Both produce excellent work however within a nearly polar opposite environment. I wonder if this was an intended choice for the second shop tour following CRK.
Pretty great video. Would love to buy a TOAD. Too bad you can't find em. In fact it seems to be hard to find many of the designs seen in this video. Kershaw makes some, but with inferior steels.

This video sums up how this country was established, and the exact sort who built it. This is America! Superb video.

I also have to say respect.
Best shop tour to date.. and will probably remain so.
Best 19 minutes I've spent on the Internet in a long while. Thank you G&G and Ben for an awesome insight.

a beautiful awesome look into the life of two very cool and underrated influential inventors.
When your knives fetch as much as their knives do, and they sell out as quickly as theirs do -- you aren't underrated.
Good to see there are people out there still making NEW designs, not the same knife in 30 colors.
You should've never let Ben slip through your fingers. This video is top shelf in every way!!
Top late
@@adamlykkegaard7289 too late again. Ben left for CRKT, came back and then left again recently.

Thanks to Ben, and props to the Hawks!

I love this video. I go back and watch it every once in awhile. Ben is great. I love watching Gavin grind that perfect edge at the end. Amazing skill

WOW....this is really well done. Authentic and strangely comforting....after this crazy week, I really needed this.
