I been charged twice for a security deposit that hotel has many reviews about “accidental charges “ I had to go out of the front desk to write my car tag por just 30 seconds and the lady keep my license and my card then when I came back inside I saw her swipe my card once then I signed two papers and the lady gave me another different that I signed for, she say is a copy, but now I have been charge 150$ twice for secure deposit and I went there and I told her the “ incident “ she quickly touch her computer and said I’m gonna reversal one I don’t know why you have been charged twice same amount. It was 12 hours later still pending in my account and don’t show reversal in one is still pending both. My point is:
What if when I went outside to write my car tag she swiped my card once and take the payment then when I got inside again she swiped again and take another payment she makes me sign the two papers with two security deposit then like this she can take 150$ cash from the register….it’s possible? If yes? What can I do I’m still in the hotel

You can ask the GM to call their merchant account and manually remove the authorization from your account.

It is usually best to use credit cards for hotel stays, as most major CCs have a level of protection and reconciliation that debit cards dont. If you are using a debit card, then any transaction, even if it is just a $50 authorization, looks like a debited withdrawl from your account, as opposed to a credit card where it is just an authorization, and the credit limit will cover that. But yes, as Bruce said, speak to the manager right away, get their business card and get their name, and let them know that you trust them to make it right, right away. Some smaller banks and credit unions may be a bit more cumbersome to refund on the spot, as the local bank may be closed.

I know this a older post, but I hope you can assist. Have you ever had a front desk agent cash sell a room of a guest who checked out early. Example: CLC customers sometimes check in early in the morning and leave that same evening. Room should be empty until following day cleaning.

To be honest, I am not a fan of CLC. But thar can happen. This is why you have to check your Guest Ledger balances and audit your negative transaction reports

access to the safe? nothing bad can happen there. Pay stubs on your desk? no big deal...an average manager runs reports throughout the day, monitoring for discrepancies. Spending time catching something on camera is a by product of bad management. Most employees are not thieves; hire the right people. Before they take "thousands and thousands of dollars."

Tommy, sometimes good employees do bad things. You probably wouldnt have watched this video if you werent curious about how many instances there are of exactly this. Catching something on camera is not ideal for any company or department head, but theft is illegal and punishable by law. I have had instances of hotel theft, fake slip and falls, guest incidents, etc, where the "catching on camera" solved the case. Instances of theft have hit every hotel company in the world at some point, on every level.
