    These are great nitty gritty "operational" best practices to know at the ground level which comes with time / experience. I really appreciate this type of content because it helps speed up the learning curve in this department.     I worked night audit 13-14 years. As you mention, you do see the good, bad and the strange! I can tell you too many freaky stories about the adventures of dealing with people working 11pm to 7am. Doing the daily audits can get a little monotonous but you do deal with many weird people. The worst were the hookers, drunk drivers, etc. and similar people from time to time. Do I miss it? NAH! That was a part of my life I'll never for get. I had 300+ rooms at my last hotel.

    I think culture has downplayed corporate so people don’t understand the benefits of learning in a professional business environment. However, if you understand systems and can add value to that system you are more equipped to lead as an entrepreneur.

    Questions: Can you import the data directly from ONQ PMS reports? Or can that information be imported from an excel spreadsheet? Or does it have to be entered manually?

    My lifelong friend and I recently had a terrible experience at the Extended Stay America (Premium) in Sanford-Orlando. Our room was extremely hot, around 100 degrees, and was absolutely filthy. The floors were sticky, dust balls were everywhere, and we even encountered roaches. Which I took pictures of and recorded. The television was broken, and the customer service was appalling, both with the staff on duty and when we called customer service. When we complained, we were rudely invited to leave in a rainstorm at 10pm, to look for a hotel that would meet our standards of cleanliness, despite being two senior citizens and after a 12 hour drive. Instead of assistance, we were handed a mop and a spray bottle to clean the floors ourselves. We checked out immediately the next morning, only to be greeted by more ROACHES. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Our experience is completely in contradiction what I just watched. I would sleep in my car before I would EVER stay at an Extended Stay America.

    Good points! What's your point of view on the staff referral program, especially for independent property? Would hotels be more interested in the potential that comes from employees referring friends & family to spend money at the hotel than from employees staying there themselves?

      Yes most hotels have a referral program that pays a commission

    The best reputation management, is to offer excellent service. It costs nothing to be kind, clean and courteous; prepare food as if you're trying to deeply impress someone on a first date. If you can meet these standards I would significantly appreciate that more than the most genuine apology, because once a moment is destroyed, you can't really give it back.

    There's actually a YT video that someone uploaded, showing a woman at a front desk of a hotel in Las Vegas or some city like that. But the people who filmed her assumed she was on drugs. Well, she was actually doing such phenomenal work at her job, was being the most courteous, professional, efficient front desk agent I ever saw in my life, and so, it backfired on the people who uploaded the video. People in the comments section of the video were all saying how excellent she was, and how they wished that they had an agent like her when they went to a hotel to check in. And, on top of all that, some people knew who she was, as she had been at that hotel casino for years. And those people had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. Just an interesting story I thought I would share. Just because someone has a condition doesn't mean we should assume things about them. But yeah, best front desk agent I have seen.

    I am a frequent traveler. Going to a hotel where the people have a bad attitude will put me off the brand so fast. When I check in I expect the people at the front desk to interact with me, answer any questions I have and look at me straight in the eye. If they barely talk and mumble I get really put off. And yes this has happened more than a couple of times. It has happened where I was planning on staying several nights, but with the attitude the front desk had I would cancel the rest of my stay and go elsewhere. And no I am not a high maintenance guest. But if I am paying $200 a night for a room I do expect to be greeted nicely and have a good experience. (Prices do differ depending on where I am staying of course)

    Could you assist me, please. I have several VCCs that I cant charge. I click on View card details, but it shows me that my account is not set up for Virtual Credit Cards. Could you help me how to solve it, because I have money that is ‘trapped’?

      Contact the OTA and tell them to reactivate the card. Then charge the card manually through your credit card processing gateway
