@Tank Encyclopedia Now would be a good time to make a video about the Russian "Doomsday Tank|, developed on T-80 chassis called "LADOGA". A heavy tracked vehicle, intended for evacuation of VIP personnel from nuclear affected/irradiated zones.
@@TanksEncyclopediaYT Thank you so much for answering. I was born in 1983 Yugoslavia, now Serbia, we have a lot of love for tanks and armored vehicles here, LoL. Kind regards from Serbia and keep up the great work @TanksEncyclopediaYT!
The rear engine layout really did a number on the design as a personnel carrier, unlike the Namer APC which uses the Merkava as the base. Front mounted engine is very helpful in that regard. I hope you cover the Namer APC one day!
Podobnej konstrukcji były żydowskie pojazdy na podwoziu Centuriona w wersji APC. Tam dodatkowo zainstalowano podnoszone osłony na czas desantowania lub walki w mieście. Stanowiły osłony i tarcze.
well there was one video of "new version" of this. it looked like they flipped transmission and is actually going backward all the time so that engine is actually in front. that clearly makes it was more useful. or different engine... who knows. there was only one video and no data
This seems like a really bad idea unless you want to kill the entire unit. The crew looks incredibly vulnerable to enemy fire. Plus given the nature of the unit and the unique design the vehicle this would be a huge fire magnet. 14:49
The concept of using a heavy APC to deliver close assault troops/combat engineers is perfectly fine, if niche, IMO. The execution, on the other hand, is not. Ideally you'd want something with a front engine and rear ramp, like Namer. More ideally you'd at least give it a RWS with the ability to mount and fire RPO-As from under armor and maybe with a bigger gun as well. Also, even if you don't have the funds for a fancy RWS, is it really that hard to make a rotating cupola with a mechanically aimed MG mount integrated into it? Really?
Honestly, with the namer suffering heavy losses, kinda makes you question if a heavy apc is actually a good idea. It wont just magically protect the crew from HEAT projectiles. And then the fact that heavy APC's will be a rather great target for atgms and drones, thanks to their rather slow speed.
Hello Tanks Encyclopedia team . Another wonderful work as usual . That being said , have you heard about Czech & Slovak upgrade of BVP-2 ( CzechoSlovak licensed version of BMP-2 ) named the BVP-M2-SKCZ-Sakal Excalibur IFV . Wish you would also make an Article on this plus illustration .
Hello! I believe Sakal is already on the public suggestions list, but none of our writers are covering modern Czech/Slovak vehicles at the moment afaik. If you are interested in the vehicle, you are welcome to research it and attempt to write the article yourself, though!
Ideally, during conversion from Tank to APC the engine must be moved to the front so that infantry can dismount behind the armour of the tank-APC (top, front, or side dismount negates the entire purpose of having a tank-APC). Only the Israeli Namer does this; this APC is fundamentally flawed.
This vehicle is not going to be used on its own, and will likely be supported with tanks and tank support vehicles (BMPT). I would think it usefulness revolves around being better protected than modern BMPs, and being a useful use for all those T-72 chassis they have on hand. Obviously the T-15 version of the Armata BMP with the engine at the front and troops in the rear make this type redundant because the T-15 is a BMP with tank level armour and rear ramp access/exit. Other units using lighter vehicles with less armour like Kurganets and Boomerang by definition don't need tank level armour so they wont need the BMO-T either.

well.. thermobaric isnt much different than other explosions except that its much more powerful for its weight because explosives need its own oxidizer but thermobaric "explosives" are only flammable substances that use oxygen from air.
Damn, can you imagine if this thing was actually backed by a better budget so it would have a proper remote controlled turret with a few racks of PMO launchers (maybe 4 on each side of the gun?). Reloading such a thing might require troops actually getting out (or not. Engineering boys, how would you mechanically reload such a system with externally mounted missiles?)
There are some BMP-3 variants with an auto reloading mechanism, spent tube is ejected away from the vehicle and the entire assembly just bends over backwards to pick up a fresh one from the hole at the back. But afaik, they're all like this thing, only reserved for their specific role, which is AT.
@@АлексейГордеев-п1н Seems that tank chassis doesn't help if a drone detonates the rockets. There was a long period that TOS wasn't used much, but now it's again more regular. It's early war game changer weapon.
If they had just gone for remote control and a larger weapon, it could have been more effective, especially if they upgraded them with cheap thermals before sending them to ukraine. They could spare the cheap low quality thermal sights for retrofitted T-62s but not this?
Just another of those Russian projects that tried to find solution to problem that didnt exist or problem that was waste of time to tackle (same as that "Terminator")

ya, the TOS-1 would make it irrelevant.
Russia building an APC that cannot reverse is such a Russian thing.
TOS-1A is a much better idea. Even 10 km range is not enough in a drone war, but it can be enhanced.
