The way Lasker played was so bright and unpredictable for the untrained eye! His games are real treasures. Thanks Mato for another incredible video! You're the best chess commentator in the world.

While on vacation in Barbados, I played a Russian player in a similar fashion. Right at the beginning I decided not to play a "conventional" game. (Surely, he would be prepared for that). After the opening both of us were castled on the King side. When he retracted his knight from f6 to d7 I realized all his power was ...momentarily... on the Queen side of the board.
I had both my bishops aimed toward the castled king + my Queen could reach the rook file once I move my knight from f3. So, I launched a bishop along the diagonal and took the pawn in front of is King. The Russian player (whom I had just met) got up off his bar stool, walked around behind me and put his face very close to my shoulder and looked at the board. I didn't move. He then went to my other shoulder and examined the board then he said "I CAN NOT SEE WHY YOU MADE THAT MOVE" .
I didn't reply to his comment. I continued to throw my other bishop, knight and queen at him and won in another 3-5 moves!
My buddy failed in his attempt to record the moves on his iphone !!!
Of course, I was lucky, but. . . I won!

I can see that the double Bishop sacrifice idea came from this game. The one that was employed in Nimzowitchz-Tarrasch game, 20 years later.

Beautiful and instructive game showing the simple good logical moves
of Lasker which turned into a powerful deadly attack . I like alot
Bird's opening but i don't know why it's rarely played nowadays ,it
can be useful as a surprise element .
Thanks Mato ,i am not from Croatia ( for joking) .

Well, I thought you made a mistake there when you said that Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands. I always thought it was Den Haag - it is a bit confusing to have the capital and the seat of government in different cities. Always something to learn in your videos!

Thats amazing to have a gameplan to use the queen in that manner while still keeping so many pawns on the board. I mean lasker could have lost his queen long ago in the game and would have probably been able to get 2 queens later on!!

Mato i just noticed but everytime you move a piece theres a blue outlined box that shows up for a slip second. is that what the engine considers the best move? or is that something else?

I KNEW it was going to be Qxp for the last move--why take a chance with a mistake with a rook on the board? The pawn disparity in number, and in positions, is an absolute guaranteed win that anybody can see...

Didn't see the need to sacrifice the queen when it wasn't necessary. He already had control of the board.I wouldn't of sacrificed so early.I would of kept the King in check and wiped out all remaining pieces.

+MKcLTM pawn is pinned by rook, so the queen is free to capture the rogue bishop.

+Wade Jenkins So having 6 pawns against 1 isn't enough for you? It's by far the easiest way to do it. Black has no counterplay then. With a rook and a pawn on the board there's sometimes a risk of a draw (as unlikely as it seems, and it would take very bad play), while the king can always hide behind the rook. This way the king has absolutely no defence, and white can get many queens.
