  • Netflix's Avatar the Last Airbender live action series was quite the disappointment when it first released, but maybe, there's something salvageable in the wreckage.

It makes me so sad that it's unlikely we'll ever get an adaptation on the 100 year war. To see Bumi and Kuzon (Aang's friend from the Fire nation) as they lived their lives in a war torn time. Maybe even see Iroh before he completed his character development. Great video.

Have you ever compared the adaptations of "Mo Dao Zu Shi "? It has a donghua, a live action drama, and an audio drama.

The big issue is that they only greenlight so little time for the live action adaptation in comparison to the animated series. The only have like 8 hours of screentime, so they need to skip over a lot and still rush the remaining szenes they show on screen and that is why nobody actually feels fleshed out. All those little moments that gave them additional character were skipped over. All the extra time they were given to draw a close up of somebodies facial expression was left out to speed up the szene and what is left is a rushed retelling of the story where they move the plot forward and tell all the important points, but leave out what makes us actually care for the story.
In that regard - yes, tell a new and different story. One that fits into the confinement of 8 - 10 hours of TV time and to the format of a real live adaptation. I don't care if it would have been the 100 year war or maybe a story of different characters living during the time aang shows up or even the same story, but from a different perspective than aangs. Just don't try to copy the animation exactly and squeeze it into a much shorter runtime.

Honestly even if the show makes improvements in future seasons, you would still have to watch the entirety of the first season to get there 😭 it’s cooked

That’s an idea that I’ve been sitting on, I have thoughts on if a Part 1 live action movie could work
