Yeeeeeeesssssss, Or in the scene where he's just had surgery and Carrie is going to take care of him from there you know that John really is in love with her and that he's been a big s..h1t with her. 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
No, that would be when he whisks into nyc for his heart surgery and then his emotional heart opens for a short window of time (actually a fever) to tell Carrie how he feels about her and their relationship.
This is when Big became more than the money, clothes and the chauffeur driven car. I remember thinking, wow, he is a person that had parents. He looks so young here, talking about his family, almost sweet.
Yeah, you gotta disregard the fact that we did actually meet his mother once. Her character was definitely not one who would have ever liked this song nor would she ever have had “the moves.” She was an upper crust snot. Great taste in hats though.
This whole episode is magical. When they're in the carriage and kissing but then she has to cut the date short because Miranda is having her baby, and she gets out of the carriage, turns and looks at Big and he winks at her before trotting off into the night....so romantic and wistful.
Although filmed beforehand , of course, it was the first episode broadcast after 9/11. It turned out to be to be the perfect love letter to NYC and to friendship. That's magic.❤️
He's such a selfish prick and carrie is childish for playing a long with his games - but I can't help but love them together. I can't help it. This scene is so romantic.
I love the two of them, Big was always honest with Carrie. I'm glad they both matured and realized they were soul mates and finally married. Lots of people feel Carrie did Aidan wrong. She just didn't love Aidan. She had every right to marry the man she loved which was Mr, Bigg. They do have off the charts chemistry here. Carrie did most of the breaking up with him but he always left a door open for her. Aidan was always complaining about something, Carrie should be able to smoke if that was her thing. Aidan and Carrie had no chemistry
Simply breathtaking scene. It brings tears to my eyes. What a lovely, lovely valentine to their relationship, and the NYC--knowing it was filmed before 9/11 but aired afterwards...it just gets to me. Perfection.
@@amythomasson4054 yes, exactly! I love all things '60s and I like imagining how ppl lived during that time. So much simpler than today. i dont like them individually. but together theyre just a perfect match. theyre both funny, passionate. theyre just like each other and most importantly: they have crazy chemistry, that even i as a far away viewer get when watching them. this just demonstrates how well written this show is. the best (heterosexual) relationships are always the ones where the male part makes the woman feel like a "woman" and the female part makes the man feel like a "man". and i think thats what makes their relationship so special, romantic and "sexy".
I have always thought that SJP looks great in those wild curly hair and fantastic crazy outfits...but now I'm thinking that actually that simple hairstyle and clothes like in these scene suit her very, very much...She looks even more classy than ever.
to me this is the best...clip from all the seasons...warm...natural yet magical...humourous...loving...succeeds at every level...it captures the moment and holds on to it...
This is probably the only time big opened up to Carrie and told her sth personal about him without any sexual references or being an overly sarcastic prick lmao
"Two drifters" is the best soundtrack for when two people have to seperate. This scene shows that they are actually sad to leave each other because they mean so much to each other, but they are not supposed to admit it - at least not yet. And when the record stucks - perfect way how mind and reality mix with our feelings. very smart scene. One of my favorites too.
This is a defining moment in their relationship. You knew they were going to be together. So sexy, cute, touching, fun, honest. My favorite moment of the show.
this takes me back to the months right after 9/11, there was such a sad feeling you couldnt escape in NYC for a very long time and this scene captured that melancholy feeling
oh how much i love this song... and i love this scene... Big's way here just melts me... damn, i knew he was a scorpio, he's got that look, way and humour... ok Big, i'll dance with u, u don't have to get down on your knees, lol!
This is by far their most romantic moment. Also, I always felt this is when Carrie looked her best. Simple hair, simple clothes, she looks lovely. Big looks very hot here as well.
I love tis scene. It was probably the most romantic we ever saw Big act towards Carrie. She also looked in my opinion very pretty in wearing just simple clothes and makeup.
Here it is what Carrie says: "Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away."
I love that song so much. I don't care if Andy Williams could die any second now, he's voice is smooth and romantic and nostalgic and wistful, yet somehow so hopeful in a song like this that the couple will always find their way back to each other. Carrie's a little funny in this scene to me in a way that I don't think I could properly explain right now, but Big drives this scene so well. In addition to just being so smooth and romantic here, I love hearing him talk about his parents. He almost seems emotionally available
Exactly! So many movies tried it and somehow it always works but Carrie just nailed Holy Golightly in a contemporary sence.. New York is a timless culise for any romance but one can never get enough of it
just saw the first two episodes from “And just like that…” and it’s too specific, Big and his records and loving Carrie the way he used to and the last part Samatha saying “where do people go when they leave new york?” London apparently… anyways i can’t stop crying, i miss Big and Samantha
This is my favorite episode. This is the fourth season finale broadcasted on February 10, 2002. When I watched indication of "Dedicated to our City of New York... Then, now and forever" in the last of program, I was impressed. It was after 9/11 terror attack. I live in this city. I really love New York !!!
When Big says "see, I got you" before attempting to kiss Carrie, possible indicating that this vulnerable side of him was shown only to groom her into sleeping with him once again. Like a predator, who captures his victims. Almost mocking her with his arrogance, and claiming even more control with transparency about his act. But then the record stopped, and she takes her power back. This scene could be interpreted in so many ways. Fascinating.
what a wonderful song)) i love it so much!!!=) "Moon River...wider than a mile: I'm crossin' you in style someday. Oh dreammaker, you heartbreaker, Wherever you're goin', I'm goin'your way. Two drifters, off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. We're after the same rainbow's end, Waitin' round the bend, My huckleberry friend, Moon River and me..."
You're absolutely right. I never questioned it before, but Carrie being the romantic that she is (and a lover of New York) I don't doubt that she'd appreciate 'Moon River'. She seems like the type to have seen Breakfast at Tiffany's a half-dozen times. Still, I guess after this moment... she'd start to appreciate it. XD
I agree with u. What a voice, what a song. It's really wonderful. I love these kind of music the old and good ones...They were fantastic....Just like big said: It's Classic!!!
I love this scene. The thing with Mr.Big is that he was truly afraid of Carrie. I truly believed he loved her, he just wasn't sure about her. But there were always small moments like this where they showcased Big's intentions. He asks her to follow him, asks her to stay but he leaves him. This episode we really get a glimpse into his love.
Carrie is wearing the black outfit which Audrey Hepburn was wearing in one of her movies. She and Big were listening to Moon River which was the theme song from the Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
"Moon River" - is beautiful and in film "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and here. This melody is conducive to the true feelings between people. And while it is old but never get bored, just like love :-)
This stands out as one of my favorite episodes of the series. i never understood why Carrie loved Big so much until this scene. Plus, it reminds me of Breakfast At Tiffany's, of course.

This is my favorite scene between Carrie and Big - and my friend "period" for them in terms of how they defined their relationship. They'd tried to make a go of it as a couple but, like Big's red wall, it just didn't work. When he had his operation later and reached out to Carrie again, and retreated again, I felt she had, once and for all, put him behind her as a romantic interest. Therefore, the finale didn't ring true for me. But viewers as a whole I feel wanted Carrie to have a happy ending, and they wanted her to have it with Big, regardless of how implausible it was.
When I first saw this scene I actually choked up a little bit. I as well remember the song very well. Now there is a ruining what I just said, I played out this scenario for girlfriends, those that I never watched Sex in the City, and let me tell you I got more......than you can shake a stick at! He took the *Sex In The City* role 3 years after leaving *Law & Order.* So he was still relatively young here...
