Thanks Lynn. I watched this a few years ago, but time goes by and I haven't done much pen turning recently. Seeing this as I start turning again reminds me to not order any pen boxes or gift tubes, but rather make my own from some scrap wood.
Glad it continues to help
Thank you Lynn, you are a great teacher!!
beautifull pen box !!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, this helped me out a lot. I don't have a router table, but that won't stop me. Thanks for the video!

+Mark Harding Thanks Mark, I got another video coming in a couple weeks on utilizing the "shorts". Thanks for watching.
Thanks, needed to make a pen box for our daughter who is graduating as a Nurse Practitioner from University of Virginia. I made her a Cocobolo fountain pen. This will help me make a nice box for the pen!
I have been buying my pen boxes for my pens I make. Never thought how easy and beautiful they could be homemade. Beautiful
Thanks Larry - I appreciate you watching.
I am currently setting myself up with a little wood turning space in my spare room. I currently have a lathe, a mitre saw, and some bits of timber. I am waiting on a bench grinder with a belt sander attachment, and my next purchase will be a pen making jig, some pen kits, and some wood blanks. This box idea is great and I will be using your example to make some boxes for my pens. Great video and tutorial, thanks.
Thanks for sharing such an elegant and simple project.
Thank you Rob
Sorry Ron, I hate auto correct 😂

This method would make a nice dice tray for tabletop gaming. It would probably make a nice quite a lot of things, in fact.
Great idea, I’m making it right now. I’m going to trim down the sides first before I glue the bottom, because I don’t have a belt sander. Thanks for the video. 😊
I think your idea is great. For extra special, I'd add a felt liner in the inside and brass fittings somehow.

for anyone watching this do not rip pieces shorter than the blade on a tablesaw!! extremely dangerous the potential for binding is very high and you could lose fingers or worse, this guy is very good at what he does, use your bandsaw for cuts this small. very nice work!
Great Point - and thanks for bringing it up and thanks for watching.
