That's something great about stargate, they had a cast of C cast memebers like Siler and Walter who they would occasionally tap, it really worked to make the universe feel bigger and more complete
Tbf, Siler was actually the stunt coordinator iirc. He was mainly in it so they didn't have to use an extra when he got beat to hell lol. Still a favorite though, no doubt.
On Thursday 2010 in the restored timeline Walter is wandering the SGC with the strangest sense of déjà vu. “Wasn’t General O’Neill supposed to tell me something today?”
Not sure he was still working at the SGC in 2010. Pretty sure he was brought to the pentagon with general O'Neil in SGU
@@Meerkat040 That's O'Neill with *two* L's. The one you mentioned has no sense of humor at all.
It would have been interesting if he somehow had the ability to remember or recall details of alternate timelines, could have been used as a story arc!

I just love the supporting cast. All of them seem to have been so well written. Walter and Siler were epic. I only wish supporting characters were as well written today.
i agree. the call backs, the quirks, and the acting all backing what this show was about; which on paper seams amazing, but you think about it further in the story went, kinda went dumb. but the Side characters kept the down to earth feeling and secondary characters kept it motivated then guest stars to keep things refreshed.
Then watch Expanse!
I only disagree with your final sentence - I do think there *are* modern series that do it well. White Collar (in my view a show whose secondary cast *made* the show) and Person of Interest particularly come to mind as examples
SGA, the supporting cast was a tad inconsistent. But SGU really took SG1's affinity for support cast and took it to another level. Still can't tell which are the supporting and which are the main tbh
The entire franchise is just so well written though, really miss it :/
I feel so stupid!
The times when year 2010 was in distant future...
Now we reminisce about those days. Funny thing, time.
@@explorinjenkins349 Any time in the future will be the past 😃
it wasn't actually that far stuff just went quickly due to the achen
miss those times
@@damirelsik4996 Looking at shows like SG1 full of optimism and good energy anticipating great wonders of 21. century. I can't help to think we no longer live in same "quantum" reality like that SG1 (not even fictional). Somewhere we took bad turn :-(
Too bad we never saw Walter on a mission. He seemed very capable.
I always felt we could have had a viable miniseries following just the shenanigans of the technicians and base personnel
He did go off world 5 times plus he was seen at the controls of the Prometheus
He could have been the Agent Coulson of SGC.
yeah we should have gotten an episode where it's just Siler, Walter and scientist Lee and their shennanigens trying to save the day.
@@deslang7563 I had originally wondered how he could do that role before realising he could study up while waiting around on duty
Ah, the scene that gave Walter his name via improv. A Stargate classic.
Walter was very underappreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thursday!
I loved his frickin face when he recognizes O'Neil 😂
Victoria Nofrickenway It's O'Neill, with two 'l's.
XD
@@bomber7837
Yeah, the O’Neil with only one L has no sense of humor at all.
The funny thing about this actor is that he's very very funny.
He's hilarious doing improv on stage. And will be back at Gatecon this weekend for more!
He was great in Sliders too.
@@GMontag
I don’t remember him in Sliders. What character did he play?
"I'm not a Sargent anymore and you're not Colonels..."
I don't understand why they didn't just tell him what was going on. He'd seen so much weird crap before, why would he not believe them.
Because he's a "by the book" guy generally. And changing the events of history is not something one does or allows lightly.
id lie to him "OK Walter, here's the thing.....we're from 2001, we sorta time travelled again. Yeah....so we need the GDO to get ourselves back in time otherwise all this, will never of happened."
Who would believe time travel
+JakePlays They time traveled by accident before... why couldn't it happen again?
Walter was part of Stargate Command when it happened. He knows of the team's past adventures.
@@AzguardMike They are not from 2001. They want to send a message back to 2001 to tell the SGC not to go to a planet.
This was quite litteraly the best damned sci-fi show out there. I loved B-5! B-5 was amazeballs and super funny. But this show just had so many characters that even as brief appearance they had such huge impact. Fun Fact. RDA and CJ worked together previously in one episode of MacGyver. CJ played a surly teen.
The showrunners made such a gargantuan error when they did Universe with no humor. The humor was essential to the fun of the show.
@basilmcdonnell9807 if that was the only error SGU made. Though they did make a Last Starfighter joke. So I'll give them that.
One of my favorite characters of SG1
Thursday!!
I love it.
Walter: You people aren't supposed to be here!
Daniel: I speak only with Elizabeth Keen.
Jack: What?
Sam: What?
Walter: What?
Daniel: What?
LOL
I think I read that RDA adlibbed in his name.
I feel like the crew should have recruited Walter to help them retake the Stargate and send the message. Walter was an important enough character and had enough history with SG1 to have helped them
Yeah, I always found the sort of animosity between Walter and SG-1 out of place in this scene.
Walter = awesome 😎
The Walter name was actually an ad-lib and he received it this episode.
Nope. It was an homage to the character of Walter "Radar" O'Reilley from M*A*S*H, since both he and Radar share similar physical characteristics, both serve quintessential but subdued support roles, and they both served bald generals named Hammond. It was intentional by the writers/producers.
@@OzBaxter radar never served a general in mash, he worked for colonel Blake and colonel potter
@@yodaslovetoy Simple Google search my friend: "G. Wood or George Wood as he was sometimes credited, (December 31, 1919 - July 24, 2000) played Brigadier General Hammond in the 1970 Robert Altman directed film MASH as well as several episodes of the first season of the CBS-TV series M*A*S*H in 1972, appearing the show's first episode "Pilot". He was the commanding General (bald) for the 4077. Henry Blake's boss for a few seasons. Feel free to research yourself. :)
@@OzBaxter thank you for the information and correcting my mistake
@@yodaslovetoy No worries! I just love that trivia as I have always loved both MASH and Stargate SG1 :)

Thursday!
i'm tiered of acting scene :D
Always thought Walter was the 5th member of SG-1!
Fun fact: There actually was a fifth member of SG-1. See the episode "The Fifth Man". ( www.imdb.com/title/tt0709186/ )
@@SGtidbits don't forget Vala Mal Doran
SG1 actually had had 7 members by the end of the SG1 series.
@@Domihork
O’Neill, Jackson, Carter, Tel’C (spelling?), Jonas Quinn, Mitchel, Vala
I never noticed that Walter has a similar pitch to Carter

Can somebody give me a synopsis of this episode? I don't believe I ever caught it.
If you really want to, you can find summaries by several people on this IMDb page...
www.imdb.com/title/tt0709030/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl
But instead of reading a synopsis, you really should try to watch the episode itself. It's a good one.
The now retired SG-1 has to essentially re-write history by ensuring that earth never contacts the Aschen Confederacy. This was necessary due to a plot they uncovered via statistics and good old fashioned human medical technology.
what season/episode was that?

Why would they not remember his name? That part seems silly.
I would guess it’s not that they don’t remember his name at all but rather O’Neill is unsure about his first name since he’d presumably been addressing him as Sergeant Harriman
