Michael Ryan as John Prior
David Kaufman as Mark Gilmour - Развлечения
One of my favorite O'Neill moments is one where he wasn't even there. Landry had taken over and he couldn't find the key to the desk. He asked O'Neill about it who promptly hemmed and hawed, until eventually admitting the awful truth: He never had the key! The whole time he was in charge of Stargate Command, he never once opened his desk XD
Usually, when you leave your office you clearn your desk and take all documents with you. There is no need to lock the drawers after that.
Meaning, Hammond didn't entirely clean his desk when he left his office. So there is likely still the disk with the dirt on Kinsey in that drawer.
@@danielk5780 Yeah but no, Weir was there in between.
@@flobo09 Meaning all these years later, we still don't know who has/had the key, or what's in the desk. Perfect.
@@danielk5780 Or he locked the desk and took the key to see how long it would take O'Neill to ask for it.
... Or he never had the key himself.
@@danielk5780
I think Hammond left that on purpose as a present to O’Neill.
Twist: Walter was actually an ascended lifeforms that secretly (without the notice of the other ascended) guided humanity on its right path. His impacts are not very noticeable, but when he does say or do something it always butterflies the golden path into existence.
"Did I order one of thes-"
"No, sir."
"Do I really nee-"
"Yes, sir."
Walter has been working with O'Neill for so long that he knows that he'll say.
"Well, he's not like other generals..."
"Actually, he's not like other, _people..."_
Also, note to self: you can't use italics and elipses one after the other on RUclips...
You can see him smile after delivering that line lol
Makes me think of another NCO that helped out the officer "in charge". 😆
@@HossBlacksilver Space Radar?
@@NPCSingularity Indeed
It's no wonder Walter runs the museum.
Aux manager are always main when it is time for ops change in base. 😊
"Thursday!"
It's easy to tell that Jack really doesn't wanna be a General or anything sitting behind a desk for that matter. He would rather just be out in the field.
There's a quote in Season 9 where Landry says it took O'Neill a week to admit that he never even had a key to his own desk.
It's kind of fitting because Jack's actor didn't really want to have to reduce his role in the show either, but he was forced to for family reasons.
@@TKGriffiths Family and personal health. It sucks.
Who is actually in command of the base? Seems like Walter to me.
There's the guy who's in command, then there's the guy who's actually in charge.
Walter isn't really in charge of anything, he's just there to make sure all the 'i's are dotted and all the 't's are crossed.
Toneai2007 no Walter is like radar from the MASH t.v. series.
He's a high level NCO as I understand it, so Yes.
Walter is SGC's Alfred.
According to an interview with Gary Jones, he had to memorize those planet codes about 30 seconds before they filmed!
Aye. He had several rehearsals where he made up the planet designations. Then just before the take he was told "Those are actual planets we need you to get right or the fans will point out the errors."
@@davfree9732"Why did we go for the Star Trek crowd instead of the Star Wars crowd?"
S’always the NCOs that keep any base running smoothly.
Amen
A Sergeant in motion outranks an officer with no clue whats going on
Heck I know Chiefs in the navy usually eat better sometimes than the CO or XO on a ship. Keyword: Sometimes.
@@233Deadman "...outranks a *lieutenant* who doesn't know what's going on." A sergeant (the main character) from the webcomic that maxim comes from tried it on someone with higher rank and... it didn't work. www.schlockmercenary.com/2015-05-04
Smart officers depend on their Sargents. Semper Fi!
Gotta love the man that keeps the SGC going!
Him and Siler.
Sgt. Harriman is the MVP of the Stargate program :)
You have got to love the tribute to Walter "Radar" O Reilly. This episode was truly a tribute to M.A.S.H. in terms of the guy actually running the show. (Right down to almost precognitive abilities)
😱 that is so true. I hated that episode, but it is so similar in the way they handle their superiors 😅
I finally found someone who gets the reference to Radar with his character.
Best Radar moment from MASH was probably also the saddest though. If you know, you know what I'm referring to.
Just watched the last episode on MASH with Radar. I love the reference!
1:10 he almost started laughing
He didn't get a lot of real screen time on the show. Scenes with him in charge must've been a fun change of pace. Seemed like a good enough actor and an interesting enough character, though, wish they'd done more with him, lol.
Walter's like oh god you need help
He totally did. I wonder how many takes it took to get the timing down.
I like how they did Walter here. They made him like Radar from MASH. I wish they kept him like this and gave him a bigger role.
I'M the base commander here!
*Laughs in Walter*
1:10-1:12 Best bit right there, can’t stop rewatching
Harriman and Siler the oil that kept the SGC machine running.
"Really.. REALLY happy"
LOL I miss this series..
walter should be the aide he'd be a great one
Walter should get a promotion, instead.
@@Talon771 I was going to say, don't Lieutenants normally do this?
@@Talon771 then he'd be an officer. i think he is actualy one of if no the highest ranking nco's on the base.
Yeah Walter and sylar would be at the top.
So Walter is SG's answer to MASH's Radar?
When i saw that
"Did i order..."
- "No sir".
"Do i really need..."
- "Yes sir".
bit, i was exactly thinking the same thing!
dam you stole my line haha
I forgot that Radar's name was Walter in MASH. xD
Walter sometimes perks up and slides over to his station before the computers can actually report an "incoming wormhole". And he does seem sensitive to the slightest malfunction or deviation from normal operation whenever the gate is active.
It would have been a clever nod if they had made mention that Walter’s Uncle or grandfather had served in Korea as a clerk for a MASH unit.
OH MY GOD!!! i have watched this show since it was originally on and i just realized that Walter is Radar from MASH. wow im slow
Walter runs the entire base...
Just like Radar in M.A.S.H
walter is the deffinition of really damn good at his job.
This reminds me of mid-to-upper level management so much. Spending all of your time making sure the people who answer to you are happy.
When you realize Sergeant Walter is the real MVP.
There should've been an episode just on supporting cast. Walter, Spencer, Dr Janet. Also, can people start mentioning episode number, season number and Title in descriptions. Now I just want to find the episode to watch it, and will have to go through Wikipedia and make an estimated guess
I believe this to be...
Season 8 episode 4 - Zero Hour
www.imdb.com/title/tt0709221/
Or just watch all the episodes again? I’m not exactly see what issue you’re having
@@michaelesposito2629 nice
@@SGtidbits Late thank you, but thank you none the less.
@@rehanmemon3969 No worries rehan memon, you're very welcome, at any time.
I love that Walter was one step short of "Do the thing" territory.
This popped up right after I saw the interview with the actor who played walter who said he forgot his lines and initially was saying random planets in the beginning of this clip at least it sounded like that scene.
Before there were the Koenig Brothers, there was Walter. He who oversaw all that went on, lurking in the shadows with a clipboard and coffee. Some might call him a secretary, they would be fools. Sgt Walter is the grease that makes the machine run, he is the sprocket that links the admin-cog to the action-cog... with a great sense of pride!
This must be the scene where Gary Jones just made up the planetary designations
“Did I order-“
“No sir”
“do I really need-“
“yes sir”
Despite not having a big role Walter was one of my faves
The officer's get the credit, but the NCO's run the military.
Sergeant Walter doing his best radar from mash here
I like Walter. He’s so good and efficient in his work
0:10 Bloopers someone puts liquor in it and he just starts drinking fast, director is like hey wait a minute let me see that cup lol.
Walter is to SG-1 as Mr. Popo is to DBZ. (especially DBZA)
Walter was awesome!
"...By any chance, do you have any relatives with the last name 'O'Reilly', and did any of them serve in the US Army during the Korean War?"
"My Great-Uncle Walter, served as a company clerk for a medical unit. Why?"
"Oh, just wondering..."
you heard the little sergeant with the psychic powers
I thought calling him by his first name was inauthentic to military commands. Then I remember that we called several people with weird first names by them. Walter would likely be known as Walter in the military.
Walter is a non commissioned officer. So as O’Neil outranks him, he can’t call him sir. The next best thing would be chief. Plus O’Neill isn’t the most professional of people ..
In any Western military it is the high level NCOs that actually run the day to day going on of the military and keep everything moving.
He reminds me of another Walter, one in the 4077.
I wonder if Walter is related to Radar
I wonder if the actor for Walter is related to Michael J Fox irl, they seem like distant cousins to me..
I think that was Walter's biggest scene in the whole series ..
Walter is like Radar O' Reilly from MASH.
Walter. As in, O'Reilley. Radar.
He anticipated O'Neill's sentences as Radar did for Colonel Potter.
Am I the only one reminded of Radar in Mash when I see Walter in action here? :D
So Walter was SGC's Radar O'reilly
do i order ..., no sir. do i really n... yes sir 00:14 actor playing walter trying to keep his cheeks from smiling lol
Sergeant Walter O'Reilly, gettin' the job done.
Walter is a keeper
1:00 - O'neill: "Oh no - a suit!"
Chekov's Plant
Channeling his inner Radar 😉
Walter is like Radar
Does anyone else get the feeling that Walter might have had a grandfather who was a clerk for a MASH unit in the Korean War?
Good ol' Radar
The Stargates Rader O'Reilly!
Reminds you of Col. Blake and Rader
Eric Green In Spaaaaaaaaace~!!!!
While Hammond was more like Col Potter.
O'Neill got to where he was by being a damn fine field officer. Probably should have just left him a Colonel, but increase his pay. Though.. then we'd not get to see General O'Neill and that would have been a tremendous loss.
Walter reminds me of Rader from MASH
Walter Stargates answer to Radar lol
Walter is Stargate's version of MASH's Radar O'Reilly. 🤣
Walter must be related to Radar😂
Anyone who has watched M*A*S*H will be thinking Walter is doing an excellent Radar.
I'm in position
Walter is like Radar from MASH.
And Walter was radars re name... Corporal Walter O'Riley.,.
Anyone else notice the similarity between Walter and Radar from Mash?
I'm surprised they don't just call him radar.
I can almost see them calling him “Radar.”
wat u mean
@@flisko123 have you never seen or heard of M*A*S*H? If you haven't, let me explain. There is a character named "Radar" O'Reilly, he's the Company Clerk for the 4077. He got the name for being able to predict things like what will person will say in the next few seconds His appearance also matchs to Walter's to a tee, short, glasses, meek looking(no offense), and being the right hand man to the general.
walter " radar" o'reilly
So this is what Radar did after the M.A.S.H....huh, not bad.
Walter "Radar" O'Reilly ?
Radar from MASH vibes and his name is Walter?
Wasn't the location of that guy's office an elevator or a staircase.. or maybe an extended hallway? I always felt like the location of the new guy's office didn't fit with what I was familiar with in the layout of the SGC.
The elevator is around a bend, to the side of Hammond's office.

Is the episode that the plant took over the base?
Yeah, I believe it is.
OHH Walter does not like general O'Neil
(he was only being nice to him because the new one was here)
I like to think he did like jack , it's just after years of watching him go through the gate and boss him around he was enjoying having Jack in *his* wheelhouse
Walter likes O'Neill. He guides the "General" along an obstacle-free path.
He doesn't like the new civilian/spook personnel. He chains them to mountains of stupid paperwork.
+P still though, you can tell he's getting a certain satisfaction out of being the one who's in his element.
Oh yeah. He's the one who's *really* in charge, and he's lovin' it, lol.
I don't think that he does not like O'Neill as a person, but as for O'Neill's current position I think he wouldn't mind having Hammond (Friede seiner Asche) back.
Am I wrong in thinking that Walter runs that place.
Probably the 526th person to say it, but calling him "Walter" was a little on the nose ...
Jack is a field commander officer, not a, pardon the phrase "armchair commander" or war room planner, he does not want the job, to much head ache,....suspect that was why General Hammond went bald, rest in Don S.Davis,
Did Radar did reincarnated, or did he just go bald?
lol better barely kept it together you know something funny must have been said before the take
