43:58 That math is correct if you have 1/3 chance for each draw to be a dragon and works perfectly with infinite card deck where 1/3 of the cards are dragons. However you didn't take into account that in hearthstone we actually have limited amount of cards in deck and not even very big limit. Each time we hit a dragon our chances to hit dragon on next draw goes down, because there is same amount of nondragons, but less dragons and because decks in hearthstone are quite small that's quite significant drop. Let's try to do some more accurate math. Suppose we have c cards in deck and d of them are dragons. Let's assume 0
It's crazy to see how the meta changes when an expansion comes out. Un'goro came out, and within the first 10 minutes of the video, I've seen three cards that are good now
I feel like a lot of cards rated 4-5 in Reno have a skewed rating. They're played because of the 1-card limitation half the time, not because they're actually a really good card. Thus, playrate is skewing Trump's scale.
Rave7wist The scoring system is based off of how often a card is played in decks, not value in a vacuum. Also, if a card is played often, then it kind of has to be good. There are over a hundred cards for reno decks to play, and they are refined down to the best 30.
But didn't he say that the playability of a card was what mattered, not how good the card itself was, like why he rated Raza 2-3 stars despite the card itself being really good?
When I first saw patches, I just said "oh, whatever, another bad card that will see play once in gang up rouge and that's it" what in the WORLD was I thinking?
Trump really needs a specific "potential" or "I'm not sure" category instead of calling cards a 3-star. As you can see all of those cards end up being at 1 or 4-5 stars because you can't be unsure about the meta you've already seen. It doesn't mean that rating was wrong, I can even say it was mostly correct because any of those cards could only be used in one exact deck and it's final rating simply depends on whether or not such deck is competitive.
flashystorm you can hit legend playing a magma rager themed deck and hit legend. its a system of quantity, not skill or quality. quality reduces the needed number of games, but isnt required.
flashystorm not only that you have to into account for skill kibler is a really good player idk about you but for me it would be easier for to hit legend with like of course any aggro deck or Reno deck then playing hunter or paladin based decks because they don't really fit the meta and I'm not as skilled as pro players
What a horrible set. Look at all the 1 star, unplayable cards! all because the meta was so aggressive! Blizzard, LEARN YOUR LESSON. STOP PRINTING BROKEN AGGRO CARDS.
klayten jensen You don't understand. The cards are bad because of the broken ass aggro meta created by broken ass aggro cards. If they weren't there then the meta would be pretty different and probably more entertaining and diverse, but no instead all you fucking see is aggro, the best deck, reno, the counter to aggro, and jade, the counter to reno and nothing else really works. Isn't that the same fucking thing as rock paper scissors? If so, I'd rather play rock paper scissors cuz it's alot easier and not frustrating to play.
klayten jensen Also consider don honcho. If the meta consistently got you to turn 7, then that card would be good and hand buffing decks would be fun and playable! But aggro meta says "fuck that, you're gonna die on turn 5 before you even play the awesome cards." That just seems bullshit imo
With azure drake being forced out, I wonder if wrathion will start to see some play. +1 mana for taunt and +1 health (and minor additional upside for decks containing other dragons, but lets forget specialized decks for the moment). Thats not an amazing deal, but the taunt sure isn't useless and we will no longer even have the option of AD.
A few commentaries from the wild end of constructed: Bloodfury Potion: it actually sees play in wild demon renolock because there is a critical mass of demons you can reliably get. Paladin handbuff does see play because secret paladin runs an ABSURD number of absurd wild cards (shielded minibot, piloted shredder, haunted creeper, etc) Jade Rogue has actually given me a LOT of success in wild because of baron riverdare - n'zoth combos. The fact that journey below can discover an extra aya/jade swarmer is REALLY good as combo fodder as well as enabling bigger jades.
Wanted to ask. I want to play control warrior but don't want to craft Justicar or revenge because they are being cycled out soon. Do you think control warrior will be a good deck without those cards? If so what would be the possible replacements?
I still disagreee with the 1-Star rating for Kabal Chemist; I saw that card in a lot of Reno-decks. (mine included) And to this day, I only saw a single Shaku, the Collector in constructed.
I think you're wrong about Reno mage being a T1 deck. Its a tier 2 deck behind pirate warior, rogue and both shaman decks. I'd put both blast crystals, and volcanic potion as a 4 star for that reason. Also Kibbler made a competitive handbuff that centered on fight promoter however i still think at best the handbuff cards are mostly 1stars and the ones that are good are the ones that buff your whole hand and not just a single target.
Great videos! I would've liked a little more discussion on card efficacy in arena. Cards like Lunar Visions or Big Time Racketeer are 1 star in constructed but 5 star in arena, yeah? Maybe in the next expansion review and re-review? :D
Maybe you could deal with the whole "6 star" issue by in addition to 1-5 ratings, when you review an expansion you also have a "top 3 standard cards" category. (or top 5) where you try to guess which ones will be the most stand out/top of the pack cards of an expansion.
hidden cache is a great card trump, it's not standard friendly but if you got to wild and place a copy of hidden cache in a value mid-range hunter deck so that your mad scentist fetches it for you, it can get out of control really fast in fact it makes hunter have a choice in the direction of either anti-aggro traps pack like Freezing trap and explosive trap or a pure value traps pack like Hidden cache and cat trick.
Reviewing Trump reviewing Trump's reviewing: it seems to me that he follows two different points of view in those reviews. In the first one he reviews cards potential, while in the second one he only accounts for the cards actual usage, therefore limiting his ratings to basically 1 or 4-5 stars. Me thinks he should use two different ratings systems, i much liked the "bad-potential-good-great" system
I'm really hoping that Hobgoblin-Zoo Hunter becomes a good deck when people start playing Wild. Alley Cat and Pirannah Launcher might finally get to shine.
Great video but what’s ironic is those Kabul secret cards that were utter trash back then are now immortalized in our present wild Meta with the unstoppable secret mage.

flashystorm you can hit legend playing a magma rager themed deck and hit legend. its a system of quantity, not skill or quality. quality reduces the needed number of games, but isnt required.
flashystorm not only that you have to into account for skill kibler is a really good player idk about you but for me it would be easier for to hit legend with like of course any aggro deck or Reno deck then playing hunter or paladin based decks because they don't really fit the meta and I'm not as skilled as pro players
seadevil stinger is finally "good in the future!!" i guess we're in the future now
Trump is reviewing his election campaign?
"...mean streets of gadzetan created lots of new decks!...jade...kazakus........and others" i see what u did there trump

Small Time Buc confirmed as the Omega / Okada of Hearthstone.
Did you ever considered that Hozen Healer in Priest can destroy an enemy minion?
I tried, it's pretty dirty trick.
The thing is, many of the 1-star cards are defining the arena. Maybe that's what the expansion was rooting for?
What a horrible set. Look at all the 1 star, unplayable cards! all because the meta was so aggressive! Blizzard, LEARN YOUR LESSON. STOP PRINTING BROKEN AGGRO CARDS.
This many 1 star cards is not uncommon in an expac...
klayten jensen You don't understand.
I guess people don't remember face hunter? I'm pretty sure it still has the highest winrate of all
Ian Gano you mean undertaker hunter right? highest win rate in all history=60%
I like your new definition of the different star ratings. I think this makes the most sense.
So, he rated Naga Corsair a 4-star borderline 5-star card, yet I have seen it on ladder maybe once. Am I missing something here?
With azure drake being forced out, I wonder if wrathion will start to see some play. +1 mana for taunt and +1 health (and minor additional upside for decks containing other dragons, but lets forget specialized decks for the moment). Thats not an amazing deal, but the taunt sure isn't useless and we will no longer even have the option of AD.
Trump called rogue hero power weapon up im triggered
A few commentaries from the wild end of constructed:
Bloodfury Potion: it actually sees play in wild demon renolock because there is a critical mass of demons you can reliably get.
Paladin handbuff does see play because secret paladin runs an ABSURD number of absurd wild cards (shielded minibot, piloted shredder, haunted creeper, etc)
Jade Rogue has actually given me a LOT of success in wild because of baron riverdare - n'zoth combos. The fact that journey below can discover an extra aya/jade swarmer is REALLY good as combo fodder as well as enabling bigger jades.
"Two and three are very different numbers." -Trump 2016 (50:33)
Many of the 1/2 star cards in this expansion could see play with un'goro expansion, due to quest cards.
ObviouslyBlackJesus HAHAHAHAHA Quest Cards
48:40 I like it how the older trump unconsciously gave a FailFish in the freeze
Fuck yeah trump lets get tropical!
Wanted to ask. I want to play control warrior but don't want to craft Justicar or revenge because they are being cycled out soon. Do you think control warrior will be a good deck without those cards? If so what would be the possible replacements?
Double trumps looks like dad trump holding baby trump on his lap.
I still disagreee with the 1-Star rating for Kabal Chemist; I saw that card in a lot of Reno-decks. (mine included)
And to this day, I only saw a single Shaku, the Collector in constructed.
"Celestial Dreamer saw 0 play"
I got fking shrek'd by the damn thing
Daring Reporter will always be one of my favs since I'm a mill deck user. I don't care if I lose a lot. Always funny when it works
"Yeah it looks like it could be good but then again, it could be bad"
-Trump
"One of in Reno-X" gets me every time.
1:04:27 "I can't think of a single aggressive card" LUL
Small-Time Recruits saw play in Anyfin Paladin. It was used to cycle to the combo faster.
Where is Kazakus? Could someone help me find where it is in the video?
Reviewing Trump reviewing Trump's reviewing: it seems to me that he follows two different points of view in those reviews. In the first one he reviews cards potential, while in the second one he only accounts for the cards actual usage, therefore limiting his ratings to basically 1 or 4-5 stars. Me thinks he should use two different ratings systems, i much liked the "bad-potential-good-great" system
Mark of the Lotus would be a 5-star card in Wild, it's a key part of Egg Druid which is one of the strongest decks in the format.
I love all the faces Trump makes when Trump pauses the video.
7:13 It is good in the future,
Water/Quest Shaman.
what decks run Shaku? I don't think I ever saw it in any decks.
I'm really hoping that Hobgoblin-Zoo Hunter becomes a good deck when people start playing Wild.
Alley Cat and Pirannah Launcher might finally get to shine.
Tmos P Hobgoblin doesn't work like that. It buffs PLAYED minions, not SUMMONED.
Tmos P Rip the dream
Great video but what’s ironic is those Kabul secret cards that were utter trash back then are now immortalized in our present wild Meta with the unstoppable secret mage.
