It may be a stupid request, but is there any chance you could do a trump reviews of basic and classic cards? I think a lot of new-returning players could use some form of a guide which cards are good and what only look good.
That's not a stupid request. That's a great idea! It would help not only returning players, but also new players. (Considering that they, somehow, find the video.) And even for veteran players, would be pretty interesting to watch. Not only that, since we have been experiencing with those cards for a long time, it would be much faster/easier for Trump to review those cards than new ones we have never tested. :v
Jokes on you, Trump is a time traveler and exists outside our concept of time itself. Explains the trash rating for corridor creeper. And the whole winning the presidency thing.
Have you done any kind of data analysis on your Trump Reviews to see how prediction accuracy has changed over time, and whether you have any particular biases as regards to mana cost, class, etc.? It's really cool you hold yourself so accountable, and It'd be really interesting to see how the numbers have panned out
Trump tends to underrate strong neutral Cards, for example ziliax and da Undatakah. Neutral Card tend to be used in 1/2 classes where they Support the Archetype, but Trump Sees neutral and Looks at the strong Decks without synergy.
I'm honestly impressed by how accurately most of these cards were rated. I feel Trump really tried harder this time around to learn from the mistakes of previous expansion ratings (i.e. 'lol priest')
I've been rewatching KnC content and realizing it's just as fun and crazy an expansion as I remember. If there were a way to custom select a format in this game, KnC would be the core I design around.
Possessed lackey was an easy miss with far too many moving pieces. If any of the healing wasn't there, the weapon that people thought would be destroyed covers its weakness, the 18 minimum additional health for each void lord and not losing by using 5 mana to kill something with cube or losing 5+ mana killing the cube with the huge tempo loss to get something doubled to then summon again. If someone accurately predicted that they would be so synergistic and that they could have so many weaknesses covered blizzard might need to have them disposed of so people don't have a solved meta they hate from the start. I can't fault trump for not being able to see it.
Please keep doing Trump Review Trump Review. Its my favorite series of your channel. Thank you for all the work you do for our entertainment and for the Hearthstone community.
Also Carniverous cube I think it’s an archtype defining card. It takes the good warlock decks and make them extraordinary. Hell it has an entire archtype named after it. Maybe I’m just a salty tempo/aggro player but to me that card is 6 stars because that combo *completely* stops your tempo and can make it unrecoverable since it would be uninteractable to summon void lords if it’s combo’d late game if you made it that far with tempo.
Trump might not make the best predictions sometimes, but I love that he goes back and sees which of his predictions were correct and incorrect, no other major HS personality does that. Very interesting concept which I always look forward to, ever since Naxxramus
ConsoleCleric wild cubelock with MO is pretty good cause you can just pull out things like voidcaller, voild lord, rin , with possesd lacky and tar creepy
looking through these trump reviews trump reviews roughly a year later is pretty interesting. Some of the cards which weren‘t strong or used initially eventually became integral parts of strong decks later. This is especially true for many of the kft and gadgetzan cards as well. I‘m really looking forward to Trump reviews trump reviews for The Boomsday Project!
This video was re-uploaded because right in the first minute the screen described the stars in the reversed order: so the bottom one read "5 Stars: Unplayable".
I like the fact that despite all the flack he gets, he never stops doing reviews and he accepts each miss as a learning experience for the next one. Eventually, we'll get a perfect review and then Hearthstone will shut down because there's nothing left to do.
ABeardedSage Well yeah, just because an army of captain hindsights throw him flack two months after the meta has settled he's still the best dude when it comes to reviews.
Not admitting misses would be plain dumb. However, he doesn't admit them fully, which pisses me to no end. He's not dumb, but he's still a little baby when it comes to admitting mistakes.
Watching this in Ashes of Outland meta kinda' makes me wonder, why does Shaman always suck, when they get Totem and Control synergies? I mean, it has always been that way. Totem Shaman hasn't really ever worked, as well as Control Shaman. Basically Shaman always ends up in a tier 1, when they get some kind of new archetype, that's not Totem or Control. Jade Shamn, Shudderwock Shaman, Galakrond Shaman - these are the most well known powerful decks that Shaman had. For some reason Blizzard tries really hard to push Control Shaman into Existance but it simply doesn't work, and the only serious change that would make Totem Shaman a good deck, would be changing it's upgraded hero power to summon 2 random totems instead of a 1 of your choice. These are just my thoughts, don't mind me 😅
The very first deck I tried was possessed lackey, voidlord, Rin, N'Zoth. The doomguard stuff never occurred to me at all. Never used Skull. It actually worked really well.
I honestly think that instead of summon Al'akir, Windshear should have combined all 4 totems into TOTEMTRON, DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE! A 4 mana 7/7 with Charge and Mega-Ultra-Turbo-Super Windfury (Can attack infinity times). Or something, I dunno.
I dont understand how is rhokdelar and to my side a sometimes card in spellhunter, those are the cards why the deck exists! If you dont have those why even have a spellhunter?
@Jens Do you ever preemptively design the edit format for the first review video, around the second Trump Reviews Trump Reviews video which will happen in the future? Just sayin, for this video looks like Trump is nice and snug in the corner of the vid, which is really comfortable to watch :).
Can you make a video explaining how decks are determined to be TIER 1-4? Is it from a website? More than one? How many in each tier? The difference between tiers. Etc.
58:07 unjustified imo. I use it in constructed, it is not only fun but also really helpful. When i haven board control on turn three, i always put it on the field. A few turns later if i have it i carnivorous cube it, if i have one in my hand faceless manipulator the cube, then i have 4 shrooms, due to board limit i only get 3 one drops each turn but thats still so powerful that control and aggro decks start trading into those small little guys.
wait, Rohk-Delar doesn't even make the list for its own spell deck? I missed out on a decent hunter weapon related to Big hunter for that thing! and now its not even good enough?! Dammit Blizzard.
What's the point in running spell hunter then though when you can run good spells and good minions, and if the deck has minions then it's just secret hunter so it must only have a like 2 minions max
Clayton Smith You only put in Barnes and Yash to get that combo, there are some other strong minions but non are worth ruining the consistency of the Barnes/Yash combo for
Turns out that random hunter spells are not that good to make you win. In spell hunter, secrets and weapons will carry u in early game, and spellstone will carry the rest. And sometimes u just win with coin barnes. That's the deck. Ironically enough, The weapon and to my side are not good enough for their only deck they can be put on. Awfull job there by blizzard, however with Yasaraj getting finally removed and with new cards coming this can very easily change, so keep that in mind.
Would you ever consider doing an additional part of trump reviews Trump reviews, where you go into at the end of an expansion how cards that may have failed in standard fared in wild? I just know that I saw ixlid be 1 star here, but he turned into a defining part of the malygos druid it wild deck
Trump used to include more asterisks for arena cards. Which to me a lot of the neutral cards in this set are designed for, there’s sooo many arena champions in this set. So I think in the future with rating the neutral cards it would be informative for people to include arena value into the rating. There’s 2 and 3 rated cards that are 5 Star in arena. Especially nowadays since there are some many people converting to arena specialists because the constructed meta gets so stale so fast.
blacklite911 arguably though this meta has been the freshest we have ever seen for an expansion. I don’t think the meta has even been really figured out yet. Pre and post patch are even two totally different worlds. It’s crazy given how Keleseth ruled and now sees virtually no play
Random Idea: Why not do a Year in Review review? Basically a larger version of a normal Trump Reviews where you review all cards leaving rotation before they leave rotation, and assess how they've risen and dropped in popularity throughout the 2 years of being in Standard. It's obviously going to be a lot of work, but it'd be really cool to see how these cards' use cases have evolved over a 2 year timeframe.
It is kinda surprising to see trump get a lot of these cards right actually... comparing it to other reviewers review and his previous reviews on older expansion, I do see that he is improving a lot on card reviews
To be honest, I expected terrible result, and Trump only missjuged horribly Warlock class, Cube and c.creeper. Besides that pretty accurate. And almost nobody saw c.creeper being good in reviews
Innersoulwithinme yeah the hearthstone team really just snuck it right past us with that huge neutral card dump at the end. Can’t even blame the reviewers for that
I must say, I feel like the only person who thought that Cataclysm would be God awful. Let me put it this way, Warlock has tonnes of board clear. In the early game, you have Defile and Despicable Dreadlord. In the late game, you have Twisting Nether. There's not really a need for an in the middle card.
I realise this will not be read but the hunter card cave hydra, I believe was under rated I use two copies in my deck as a board clear mid-late game beside my rhino or hound master. This usually clears a large minion chain gang or other taunts easily gaining back the board. Just requires some reinforcement cards
Some token druids still run creeper cuz you can still buff the attack to a decent amount and has high HP. I though this card would absolutly die and see play absolutly nowhere, turns out there are a liiittle bit of them around here and there.
Call to Arms is literally just Collected Company from MtG but likely better. The card is the best 4 drop in Standard, only card even close in that cost is Spellbreaker.
Candle shot and crushing walls are still terrible, they're only played because lack of good Hunter removal. Crushing walls compared to physic scream or twisting nether, or dragon fire potion, or meteor, ect. really highlights how horrible it is. I like like playing midrange Hunter I wasnt able to make it work this exspansion because Hunter got shafted, all they got was spellstone and katerina is fun but there isn't enough good Hunter cards for a mid range Hunter. Hunter needs card draw.
I don't agree spell Hunter is a teir 2 deck it only does well if you draw barnes and emerald spell stone, and even then your openent might have an answer, they don't uasly but even still.
So, it turns out there are only about 21 cards that are must crafts competitively. Sounds good. If they keep this up every expansion you'll just have to wait a long time to get the picture and save a bunch of dust, lol. :P
I like this video a lot, especially how he gives reasons for his ratings. But I wish he could explain what the "patch" was that caused the change in the ratings. I'm not that well informed, so pre-patch and post-patch don't really mean anything to me.
Ok I see. But then how did the patch change Branching Paths at 3:30 from a 4 star card to a 3 star card? I don't see how the nerfs on corridor creeper or patches affect the value of that card.
Ethan Zhao he rates the card based on the meta. So before the nerf, most of the decks had really powerful aggressive tools, making branching paths better cause armour I guess. After the nerf, decks got a lot slower, while many still run2 branching paths, some people cut 1. It’s a good example of how a few changes to really powerful cards can vastly shift the whole meta, affecting the play rate of many other cards other than itself. I think he gets most of these play rates stats from a hs stat site so check there
It may be a stupid request, but is there any chance you could do a trump reviews of basic and classic cards? I think a lot of new-returning players could use some form of a guide which cards are good and what only look good.
I know it would take forever, but i think he should do this every standard rotation.
That's a great idea
shame so many cards were removed or nerfed from the set.

laughterline
That's a wild deck, these are standard ratings
No, it is not a wild deck, it's both a standard and a wild deck.
laughterline
In Standard it's a really low tier deck, so in standard it's 1 star
proface nah, it used to be a tier 2-3 deck pre-nerf. He gave Kathrena 2 stars, and she only saw niche play in meme decks
laughterline sorry man, but it wasnt tier 2 or even 3 pre patch
1 star for Twig? Oh, how the meta changes
didnt kolento get rank 10 legend with kingsbane rogue?
How the hell is fungal lord one star now? Its a component of the pretty decent maly druid.... gosh
Why are some cards not of the right rarity?
Like level Up! and Drywhisker Armorer...
Trump barely managed to call Runespear a weapon, haha.
I like this video a lot, especially how he gives reasons for his ratings. But I wish he could explain what the "patch" was that caused the change in the ratings. I'm not that well informed, so pre-patch and post-patch don't really mean anything to me.
during the expansion, corridor creeper was 5/5 and patches had charge.. after nerf creeper was 2/5 and patches doesn't have charge
Ok I see. But then how did the patch change Branching Paths at 3:30 from a 4 star card to a 3 star card? I don't see how the nerfs on corridor creeper or patches affect the value of that card.
The cards were better against the meta pre-nerf. There were a lot more aggression so defensive druid with those cards had an higher win rate.
I think he gets most of these play rates stats from a hs stat site so check there
You should do Trump reviews trump reviews trump reviews
lost weight ? or is the just the camera angle and the haircut?
Spell hunter? Don't you mean Barnes y'shraaj hunter?
The Sceptile Gamer i mean you don't really win most games with those because its unlikely to have barnes on time
Rhokdhelar and to my Side.
Fungalmancer is 5 star, it was obvious from the card effect alone from day one, yet even after 4 months Trump only went from 1 to 3 stars...
