I think alot of people find them annoying and they're a bit weird to use I find them to be pretty ok weapons with suprising range, but they can be a bit annoying to go against while power stancing xD
They're just obnoxious to deal with. High poise damage coupled with super high range makes it very complicated to close the gap, even more so if you use a short weapon yourself. Shields don't do much either. And on a more personal note, the fact they can't backstab and their laughably poor choice of AoW makes them a pretty 1-dimensional weapon. The Urumi is the exception thanks to his cool heavy, but otherwise, it just feels like people are using them for the sole purpose of being annoying (and it's working).
Moonveil is honestly very easy to dodge. Bloodloss Nagakiba with double slash is like ROB without the downsides. Roll catch with more poise damage, afinity buildup and the range is insane.
Honestly, it's an absolute crime that neither the Serpentbone nor the Meteoric Ore can be infusable with more interesting skills, especially when both weapons' R2s are essentially Sekiro's Ashina Cross and Ichimonji respectively. Like they'd still be hard-pressed to beat Nagakiba anyway cuz "haha sephiroth shaft", but man l'd so kill to have the Meteoric Ore's R2 with Unsheathe.
Not really a pvp-er, but nagakiba is probably one of my favorite weapons. Sure it's not as stupidly broken as moonveil, nor is it as much of a bleed machine as RoB, but i just find it the most enjoyable katana to use, only downside is that normal smithing stone weapons are fucking annoying to level lol, you can get a 10+ somber no effort but a +25 is a god damn nightmare to get. Also 18 str for a katana is a little annoying as well.
Try a physical infusion and buff it with bloodflameblade and you get an absolute machine in terms of bleed. And when you two hand it, you need only 12 strength.
Getting stones is easy. You just need to acquire the various bell bearings and turn them into the vendor at round table hold. You can look up where the bell bearings are. Then you can buy any level of stones from the vendor. You just gotta Farm the runes, which is also easy with the right weapon and enemies. I have about 75-80% of the weapons and I have all normal weapons at +24/+25 and all Sombers at +9/+10
My favorite katana is Dragonscale Blade. I just like the frost lightning. However, I use the Nagakiba more because I like the thrust attack, and the reach of course.
I know it will sound weird but I don't like the Nagakiba. I will admit it is a really good weapon but it's just too long and looks out of place. Just over the top in my opinion. The Dragonscale Blade though 🤩 I know the ash of war is really hard to nail but if it ain't the coolest looking weapon in Elden Ring! My samurai build was the first playthrough and love going back to it every now and then!
Powerstance with a flaming strike on a off hand uchigatana and u have two lightsabers. I probably wouldn’t use it on its own though unless I was personally using incantations or sorceries with my left.
feels bad that they gutted rivers of blood, it was such a cool weapon and it really wasn't as overpowered as the scrub complainers said it was, but now it's just borderline unusable
I wish Rivers was like the Chikage of this game, doing damage to the user with every attack and AoW use. I just think those kinds of weapons are cool, but maybe it would have also stopped some of the bitching that let to the nerf.
Moonveil really isn't that bad tbh lol Like you know they're aiming for that ash of war and you can just roll through it. I once made a dude rage quit because he couldn't hit me with his moonveil lol its just a flashier uchigatana In the words of Piccolo: *"DOOOOOOOOOODGE"*
The thing with moonveil is that it really is just a perfect weapon for int builds. When compared to every other int weapon, it just has no flaws outside of the guilt you'll feel for using the weapon art.
@janakbachkaniwala9247 bruh, darkmoon greatsword sucks, it's only usable because it's a greatsword, but there's WAY better frost options for int builds, and it's not even the best of the int greatswords
personally i like them all. rivers of blood was my favorite but moon veil is just a beautiful looking weapon with a satisfying aow. but nothing beats the original and the power stance makes this so much better
Idk about the fanbase, you can ignore them, tho I don't like ppl who spam op builds with no skill in the game. As for the gameplay, it's the easiest game in all of the company's releases, you can get op extremely easy to the point it's just spamming one button without even thinking just by exploring and upgrading
I like a lot katanas in these games, but i wish most of them had the two handed stance from Dark Souls 2, where the katana was held horizontally instead of vertically, because in the Miyazaki's souls games (1, 3, ER) your character holds the katana like a kid holding a stick in the garden, it feels and looks insecure with that grip...
I usually go DEX Faith on my first playthrough of a new souls game but I decided to switch it up and go wild with an unknown stat like arcane. I am probably one of the first users of ROB and I apologize for my transgressions.
Uchigatana will always be my favorite, most consistent and versatile Katana in every Souls game. It has some very stiff competition in Elden Ring, but I still prefer it for it's low requirements on an Arcane build with Bloody Slash. Starting as a Bandit and eventually getting the Uchi (in some tomb in Limgrave, the name eludes me) is very satisfying.
Used Uchigatana with flaming strike and the Dragonscale blade for a while. The ice/lightning with fire was a good combo for a bit but once I specced heavily into arcane for dual reduvia's I haven't gone back lol
Atm I am using spectral lance pike and sacred uchigatana. Tried using daggers which is kinda fun with reduvia. Basically most weapons that have a throwing projectile of some sort that can apply an effect are great imho. Might even boost up ijis needle that has frost projectiles. The only thing that sucks is that I havent found a fire weapon cuz I feel like fire would be quite strong against some of the enemies. Lightning sounds cool but in practice it isnt that cool. Kinda surprised none of the swords have some sort of shield formed as they attack, maybe a water sword could have a bubble around you while you attack or something. Also wanna say katanas are cool and moonveil although hated and op has also prob the coolest move with that unsheath stance and its kinda amazing you can use it without fp too. It does less damage but at least you did something vs your char just looking at the wepon like what's wrong buddy.
RoB is the abbreviation cause it ROBS any difficulty the game had. The double slash with extra range and bleed, with bleed being op enough already, is absurd. I wish nothing but ruin to those who use it and think theyre pros.
people that cry about moonveil and ROB are because its a weapon with a ranged attack. Think back to every other nerf was some form of going from standing to ranged damage outside of short sword range.
has anyone else heard that the meteoric ore blade’s gravitas has a bigger range than the normal ash of war version?? i feel like i’m going insane but i could have SWORN it had a better version of gravitas with more range

"good fight tryhard" 🤡🤡🤡
I have about 75-80% of the weapons and I have all normal weapons at +24/+25 and all Sombers at +9/+10
@@forwardmoving8252im glad you said this because them shits easy af to get 😂
My favorite katana is Dragonscale Blade. I just like the frost lightning. However, I use the Nagakiba more because I like the thrust attack, and the reach of course.
Chikage over RoB supremacy
I will never forgive them for taking chikage away from us lol
What armor are you using?
I just think those kinds of weapons are cool, but maybe it would have also stopped some of the bitching that let to the nerf.
ur voice sounds like many others 💀y'all clones
its gotta be dual bloody uchi's for me it adds build bleed up so fast with power stance its pretty strong against some bosses
Dragonscale blade needs some love.
Moonveil really isn't that bad tbh lol
Like you know they're aiming for that ash of war and you can just roll through it.
I once made a dude rage quit because he couldn't hit me with his moonveil lol its just a flashier uchigatana
In the words of Piccolo:
*"DOOOOOOOOOODGE"*
i havent even gotten a third of the way into the game but rivers of blood seemed the coolest to me
Same
The weeb of all time!
The thing with moonveil is that it really is just a perfect weapon for int builds. When compared to every other int weapon, it just has no flaws outside of the guilt you'll feel for using the weapon art.
darkmoon greatsword?
@janakbachkaniwala9247 bruh, darkmoon greatsword sucks, it's only usable because it's a greatsword, but there's WAY better frost options for int builds, and it's not even the best of the int greatswords
@janakbachkaniwala9247 I will say, it does have solid damage though
Deaths Poker? Genuinely stronger than Moonveil
@justarandomguy983 yeah, you're right, the weapon art slaps
You can make some really cool builds with the dragon scale katana it's my favorite purely just for how badass it looks.
personally i like them all. rivers of blood was my favorite but moon veil is just a beautiful looking weapon with a satisfying aow. but nothing beats the original and the power stance makes this so much better
I want to get this game but I can't help but be intimidated by the fanbase and it's notoriously difficult gameplay
They should've kept the unsheathe parry, it felt so nice to use
Day 12 of asking monk to do the godskin apostle build
Uchigatana will always be my favorite, most consistent and versatile Katana in every Souls game. It has some very stiff competition in Elden Ring, but I still prefer it for it's low requirements on an Arcane build with Bloody Slash. Starting as a Bandit and eventually getting the Uchi (in some tomb in Limgrave, the name eludes me) is very satisfying.
Please do colossal swords! My favourite katana is nagakiba and my least favourite is MV
time stamps?
16:30 Dark Souls 1 pvp
Used Uchigatana with flaming strike and the Dragonscale blade for a while. The ice/lightning with fire was a good combo for a bit but once I specced heavily into arcane for dual reduvia's I haven't gone back lol
I can't wait for whip and bow video. My favourite weapon types. BTW grate video. ^^
I honestly understand why Moonveil spam would suck in PvP but as a solely PvE player, i loved using Moonveil in my first playthrough of Elden Ring
same.
Used to think meteoric ore blade was meteoric orc blade 😂😂 still call it that sometimes
Meteoric Ore Blade is my favorite soley because it's great for farming Four-toed fowl foot
What is the armor set that he's wearing? It's dope
My favorite katana is the hand of Malenia. But the fight for this weapon is really hart.
there is one weapon class that I dislike the most. the one where you are 6 feet from a mic and also in a large room with echoes.
serpentbone blade my beloved. i pair it with the coil shield
Wakizashi is actually a tanto which is in fact a samurai’s dagger so technically it is not a katana it is truly a dagger
RoB is the abbreviation cause it ROBS any difficulty the game had. The double slash with extra range and bleed, with bleed being op enough already, is absurd. I wish nothing but ruin to those who use it and think theyre pros.
Nah man Whips are the best
Waterfowl dance is very situational. For example, it could be used as a counter to perfectly spaced swing.
ROB should've only been nerfed in PvP and not PvE it's so stupid. Like, I grinded an incredibly difficult game, I wanna have fun, don't ruin it.
Just got back into the game… would you guys recommend Moonveil or ROB? (PvE)
Well I don't play online so pve only...
I finished the game with rivers of blood but the Nagakiba is better..
Even if Rivers of Blood isn’t what it used to be, it’s still my favorite 🩸🗡️🗿
That's historically correct dual wielding.
What armor do you have on? Ronin/Land of Reeds/idk what the gauntlets or gloves are ? Pretty cool.
Uchigatana Best starting weapon plus you can get two if you start with Samurai
Also fun fact double slash is basically corpse piler without the bloody swings
Double fun fact Waterfowl can be parried
people that cry about moonveil and ROB are because its a weapon with a ranged attack.
Think back to every other nerf was some form of going from standing to ranged damage outside of short sword range.
I find it funny people cry about Rob😅 but spam other moves like the poke jump hits or spells 😂😂😂 damn clowns

Buy me Elden r -
Okay jokes aside
Great video ✨
has anyone else heard that the meteoric ore blade’s gravitas has a bigger range than the normal ash of war version?? i feel like i’m going insane but i could have SWORN it had a better version of gravitas with more range
Im using a cold uchigata +25 with the chilling mist ash of war, its fucking good, and before shittalking me im a level 620 so im not a noob
