Curse blade cirque actually has a few plus sides. They have a high guard value, which can allow you to do the absolutely devastating guard counter on certain weapon types without needing the deflecting hard-earned. Though the blades work very well with it having enough guard that there isn't worry it'll run out. It has higher damage than the rest of the backhand blades making it very good if you decided to use a separate back hand blade in your main hand like the smithscript cirque but then still having access to the powerstanced attacks with high damage, you also get one hand light attack string with this kind of setup which is really cool because the first hit of the combo propels you forward. I do notice that these weapons become very underwhelming in pvp if you don't utilize blind spot or swift slash. I don't use those ashes for the sake of fairness
I have literally seen about 95% swift-slash spammers as invaders ever since the DLC released. It's even funnier when you see that they can't fight in any other way than spamming this ash of war and when you actually kill them because they're overly predictable, they post angry comments on your steam profile. This is why I leave my profile's comments open, to revel in the salt of op ashes of war spammers.
Had an invader spam it while co-oping on the way to Radahn's fog gate. He died too easily and had to message that we were both bad because he was spamming this AoW. I had a hearty chortle and simply replied YOU DIED

Anyone else feel like Falx should've been backhand blades instead of curved swords? The weapon design seems to fit, and it would give some more variety since 2 of them are chakrams
really love the first one for the ash of war (bosses who get staggered by it) for example Malenia it doesn't really stagger stagger but it stun her for some light attacks and it has dodge frames on top of that, although don't try that on Messmer dude never gets stunned
You like the Smithscript Cirque because it's broken. I like the Smithscript Cirque because it basically lets me roleplay as Xena, Warrior Princess with her chakrams. We are not the same.
I'm almost certain Curseblade's Cirques were designed for guard counters. It's got an exceedingly high guard boost for how fast they are. You also get the Deflecting Hardtear from the same area. I've been rocking it with multi-hit buffs on a Dex build and I like them over other guard counter builds that are slower and focus on more defensive playstyles. It also feels like they do more poise damage than the other two BH blandes, but I don't know the numbers.
I've noticed some DLC weapons have a unique move when you move forward, hold roll and tap RT / R2 but I don't know if any base game weapons have a move for that input
It's just needs to have damage increase and made were u don't have to double roll it just needs to be made like a lot of others were it can be rolled completely in one roll
Putting Swift Slash on the normal Backhand Blades, and buffing them with Royal Magic Grease (really just for the blue color,) you could potentially make an extremely cool Sin DT Vergil cosplay with the right fashion.
The running attack on the backhand blade also allows you to just keep running. You can kind of do circles in and out of your opponent's range when using it. The smithscript cirque might be one of the best weapons in the dlc because of its low requirements and great moveset. That said, smithscript weapons are awkward to get the most out of because of their scaling and it makes them feel really weak early on. Also the 1 damage you were dealing with the curseblade cirque seems to be because you were landing on your opponent rather than hitting them with the attack
I believe the gold disc faith spell is the most slept-on attack for pvp. It cost 3fp and chains together so well with any weapon. The range is almost the largest of any attack, plus it hits twice for poise damage. You can also use it to herd ganks into position for a combo wombo.
Nah you’re not convincing me that the smithscript one is any good at all. Idk why FromSoft was so scared of smithscript weapons. Only the spear, hammer and axe are viable at all and even still, they’re not that good and probably need a buff. The smithscript weapons outside of the ones I mentioned? Lmao, don’t bother.
Why does nobody understand that weapons with D and B scaling for str and dex respectively are literally quality weapons! LEVEL YOUR GOD DAMN STRENGTH!!! The cirque blades ain’t a damn dex weapon just like gransax spear and cragblade
I put swift slash ash on the backhand blade with blood affinity and I put the blind spot ash on the Cirque's with blood affinity and they're ABSOLUTELY INSANE!
2 things I will say. Deadly dance gets buffed by the dancer armor for more damage as well as being REAL good for multi hit buffs. And, I have had a hard time recreating it but I was dueling a friend on the great ridge outside of malakiths fight and I landed a true combo on the smithscript cirque with a I believe it was a jump attack into beast roar.
You don't have to, Steelovsky's whining already informed us of how "broken" those things are lol. (no offence to steel, he merely just got annoying lately with constant compalining about backhand baldes)
Gotta love the last invasion, host wasn't even using swift slash and still took on 2 invaders and a tough npc mob. It's content creators like you who kill the fun in a game. I have never done pvp except for mohg quest. These aren't "broken". There are quite a few counters to them. It's the content creators crying broken..."hahahaha"...while 2v1 a host and still struggling...broken, pshhh.
If we're talking pvp, the backhand blades are far from broken. Somebody who just understands basic mechanics and frame advantage is going to demolish you. They're fun, but they're not viable at high level pvp, and it simply comes down to hitboxes and frame data.
Please, for the love of the weapon people, dont use standing heavy with the smith script cirque. Do a jump r2 instead. The amount of people I’ve rollcaught in pvp by just doing a running light into a jumping heavy has been surpringly high as of late. Also, reality is that any backhand blade with swift slash is automatically s tier, since that ash of war has officially broken the game. But yeah jump r2 with the smith script cirque people! Foward, backwards, to side, on your bed, on your neighbors bed, it doesnt matter. Jump r2!
Yo, why are you bringing up the Cirque as a farmable item later in DLC? You literally get a dude fighting you with them when you walk in. You walk like 10 yards forward and dude jumps off a structure to fight you. You can even see him from the Grace! I fought him like 9 times to get those. Got most if his outfit before he dropped them
Re the backhand blade moveset - you missed one of my favourites - the sprinting heavy, which is a nice, reasonably quick 1, 2 for pretty big damage. You used it in your pvp fights but didn't mention it when going through the moveset
Backhand blade swords worked a charm against Maliketh on my second play through after beating DLC and continuing main story. Not so much against Radagon and Elden Beast.
I'm not going to lie the weapon choices should be a lot more varied. There should be at least five backhand blades. There are some parts of this DLC that are slightly disappointing. For me it's the wasted space again and the re-skinned bosses. Also the Rahdahn fight is kind of ho-hum. I think the final fight should have been Miquella. I also wanted more infused weapons. Like where are the madness swords and the death blight weapons? They should have field bosses that drop specific weapons and that's their only purpose.
Balance? Balance meaning for a PvP player: If something is annoying - nerf it to oblivion (because that is, what normally happens after you guys demand it) And if it becomes borderline unusable to the point of not fun to use it in PvE... Who cares?
im still utterly baffled that the new NPCs have some of the new weapon classes, and Hornsent's BACKWARD BLADES are NOT backhand blades. they are a the PERFECT design for this weapon's moveset, but no just randomly are curved blades. its even more baffling when the basic blades you can easily find before you even meet the Hornsent, say "weapons of the hornsent for generations" which would heavily imply that meeting a guy who is of those people, wielding dual reverse blades, would mean they are backhand blades. it REALLY feel like an error and i wonder if it actually is or not. even the unique weapon art feels "backhand blade" intended.
You never mentioned the running r2 attack on the backhand blades it’s so ridiculously broken. For some reason, the first hit of the running r2 is pretty weak, but the second hit of it does nearly 2600-3000 damage for me and it’s so fast.
I just wish they would do a different weapon balance system for the PvP. No weapon besides maybe a few colossals should be killing people in 2-3 hits and no ash of war should be able to be spammed a dozen times in a row without using a flask.
Casually ignoring the *49* guard boost on the Curseblade Cirque. While I agree it might not be the best backhand blade in the game, that's more guard boost than some shields. Makes it interesting as a dual-wielded guard counter weapon in PVE
The curseblade cirque is not bad, you’re just not using them properly. It has a good guard boost stat so it shines when doing guard counters. Ofc stacking it with the RW and Prosthesis talisman helps a lot but using the deflecting hardtear in your physick makes it broken
Please stop calling dual wielding "powerstancing"... Powerstancing was a DS2 mechanic that required extra stats to enter a special stance with two similar weapons. It has only ever existed in DS2; every other game is just dual wielding or paired weapons.
it's been nerfed, rip swiftslash. backhanded weapons still great though. the abillity to continue running after the dashing R1 makes them the best at catching fleeing enemies, be they hosts or invaders.
As an INT user, I put frost on the Smithscript Cirque and they wreck in PvE. Trash anyway. For bosses, it's still easier to use more traditional setups unfortunately.
I'm doing my 2nd playthrough in ng+ and using quality backhand blades with greases applied. I'm killing bosses easier then when I used my mimic the first playthrough lol
Which Colosseum are you fighting in? I was playing in the Caelid one and all the enemies looked like Dragon People. How do I do PVP and actually see what they look like?
Anyone have a backhand blade build for PvE gota beat radahn but sadly I’m on vacation and was messing around with the perfume but didn’t use it on any required bosses and want to try backhand blades ( dex faith preferably?
I hope they add more weapons in the future, dont even need to add more categories, just more weapons for the new categories. Only 3 for each new category will make them very boring quite fast, especially in pvp
"Lotta Great Katanas today" Yup. Seems to be every day, range of a colossal and faster than a GS with ridiculous AR, but no its a melee weapon so it can't be OP 😂
Sad...no faith weapon that allows casting of incantation. Other than that cool dlc 12/10. Also you should try all the smithscript weapons for a video themselves.
I don't like it when fromsoft nerf weapons because of pvp, the game is mainly played in the actual game and not pvp, and when a weapon gets nerfed because people say it's too overpowered in pvp, I don't like that it also gets nerfed in the actual game. So, in short, no nerf please.
I still think they get outclassed by power stanced curved swords for love at least. They have significantly better dps and a better jump attack that applies bleed quicker
I don't play PvP at all, but I love the basic BHB in PvE. Blindspot is super juicy. If they nerf it I hope they just nerf the PvP Interactions so people don't complain all day (which they will do regardless)
in terms of balancing weapons, i dont think thats ever going to happen, elden ring isnt a pvp game, it may have pvp in it, but by no means will they nerf weapons just cuz of pvp
I'm actually really upset that the curseblade cirque can't be enchanted. Like deadly dance isn't nearly good enough to justify why I can't use a grease of enchantment spell

Backhand blade with bleed was the only way for me to beat the DLCS bosses as they hit to hard and fast for me to consider using anything else. Hell Bayle took 8 attempts because he just doesn’t let up and when he isn’t attacking for a split second he’s jumping around like a crackhead.
Something I don’t think you mentioned is that you can running attack and then keep running without delay, keeping the pressure up as well.
Can you try madding hands it’s pretty good with axe talisman and aged one exaltation talisman.
You should try new perfume bottles before they are nerfed (Spoiler: they can one-shot)
Anyone else feel like Falx should've been backhand blades instead of curved swords? The weapon design seems to fit, and it would give some more variety since 2 of them are chakrams
Agreed
Nice video can you do the remembrance weapons pls
Sick of getting invaded by people spamming that last ash of war
Yeah, but you have the option to run it… up to 3 can use it against 1 person. Not all that bad
@@SUBJECToDELTA rather fight with skill honestly, easy to beat it but it's rather annoying
Remember people always throw sh*t pots and tea nag reverse blade users
What to do if you some how beat a Swift slash backhand spammer.
1. point downwards
2. Throw shit pot at them
3. Bag em
@@jamiehughes5573 yes this is the proper method to deal with these scum
Nothing more pathetic than dudes playing Elden Ring in co-op lol
really love the first one for the ash of war (bosses who get staggered by it) for example Malenia it doesn't really stagger stagger but it stun her for some light attacks and it has dodge frames on top of that, although don't try that on Messmer dude never gets stunned
Can’t wait for him to cover the hand-to-hand arts
Also possibly because he’ll find it challenging lol
Monks gonna have fun with this series
Ummm my Smithscript Cirque came with Blind Spot AOW and not swift slash…. Did I do something wrong?
It's interchangeable
You like the Smithscript Cirque because it's broken.
I like the Smithscript Cirque because it basically lets me roleplay as Xena, Warrior Princess with her chakrams.
We are not the same.
What armor sets are you using with the land of reeds helmet though?
Ronin armor for chest, not sure about the rest tho
It's a feint attack, and is on some other weapons as well. The Astel Wings, being my favorite int blade with this feature.
Swift slash needs a nerf.
It's just needs to have damage increase and made were u don't have to double roll it just needs to be made like a lot of others were it can be rolled completely in one roll
The net code needs a damn buff, that’s the real reason shit like this becomes so broken in pvp.
@@jeezyyplays6234 yep
Putting Swift Slash on the normal Backhand Blades, and buffing them with Royal Magic Grease (really just for the blue color,) you could potentially make an extremely cool Sin DT Vergil cosplay with the right fashion.
9:20 how did that guy turn invisible?
The running attack on the backhand blade also allows you to just keep running. You can kind of do circles in and out of your opponent's range when using it.
The smithscript cirque might be one of the best weapons in the dlc because of its low requirements and great moveset. That said, smithscript weapons are awkward to get the most out of because of their scaling and it makes them feel really weak early on.
Also the 1 damage you were dealing with the curseblade cirque seems to be because you were landing on your opponent rather than hitting them with the attack
jesus that Ash of war is absolutely disgusting
I believe the gold disc faith spell is the most slept-on attack for pvp. It cost 3fp and chains together so well with any weapon. The range is almost the largest of any attack, plus it hits twice for poise damage. You can also use it to herd ganks into position for a combo wombo.
no clue how you made a 13 minute video off 3 weapons lmao
8:51 how did you manage to have bleed affinity and different ash of war at the same time?
Black whetstone blade lets you add the bleed, poison, or occult affinity to weapons when changing ashes of war
i picked up the first basic backhand blade and stuck with it even after half of the dlc😅
The back hand blades are very good. Blind spot is very effective against strong ennemies. Only downside : walls.
Lowkey upset that we got ranged chakrams, but they weren't the Crystalian discs.
The blind spot ash of war is insane
I wish blind spot could go on daggers, that's how it was in ds3
Jump r2!
I'm pretty sure all the new weapons have heavy attacks that true combo into the light attacks.
Balance?
Balance meaning for a PvP player:
If something is annoying - nerf it to oblivion (because that is, what normally happens after you guys demand it)
And if it becomes borderline unusable to the point of not fun to use it in PvE... Who cares?
im still utterly baffled that the new NPCs have some of the new weapon classes, and Hornsent's BACKWARD BLADES
are NOT backhand blades. they are a the PERFECT design for this weapon's moveset, but no just randomly are
curved blades.
its even more baffling when the basic blades you can easily find before you even meet the Hornsent, say
"weapons of the hornsent for generations" which would heavily imply that meeting a guy who is of those
people, wielding dual reverse blades, would mean they are backhand blades.
it REALLY feel like an error and i wonder if it actually is or not.
even the unique weapon art feels "backhand blade" intended.
I've been playing a quality/faith build using the Smithscript shield in my offhand and the Smithscript cirque in my main. I have dubbed it PIZZA TIME.
I’ve been just using those standard ones and they’re really really good
Please stop calling dual wielding "powerstancing"...
Blind spot Aow & smith script cirque bleed infused are fast, unpredictable & sick aF.
So many hard hitting 1,2 shot DLC weapons.
You forgot the fact that the running heavy hits four times, just like powerstanced curved swords
in terms of balancing weapons, i dont think thats ever going to happen, elden ring isnt a pvp game, it may have pvp in it, but by no means will they nerf weapons just cuz of pvp
Dude probably took 2 hours to finally get a W in PVP then he goes "meh meh meh ok it's broken please nerf" sit tf down..
The weapon itself it’s just a curved sword variant and is ok but not game breaking. Rapid slash and Nuthin personelle kid are just busted.
I'm actually really upset that the curseblade cirque can't be enchanted. Like deadly dance isn't nearly good enough to justify why I can't use a grease of enchantment spell
