The XPro 3 has me slowing down and thinking more when taking the shot. My work cameras are just screwdrivers and wrenches in the toolbox that come when a job is requested. The XPro 3 is my, “making a photo” camera. I have started to get more into fine art style photos with it and also street work. It has re-kindled my original love for photography.
I'm shooting with the Xpro3 aswell. I bought it three years ago. It's the only camera I use for photography and I have never used a more fun camera to be honest. I love the looks, the build quality, the weathersealing. It motivates me to shoot in the streets and I also use it as a complete workhorse. Weddings, corporate shootings, whole shooting campaigns - it all works and the clients are always very happy with the results. A nice bonus is, that you get lots of compliments from people because the camera reminds them of an old analogue camera. It opens up a lot of nice talks with people and this enables a very nice shooting ambience with clients I think. Can't wait for the next iteration of the Xpro!
That's awesome to hear, as I have been shooting SONY mirrorless the last few years and I am looking to possibly move completely over to FUJI soon ......at least for photography, I really think the X-PRO 3 is fantastic so far and you are completely right about it being a conversation piece, people aren't sure what I am shooting with or what year it came out haha. The unique look and hidden LCD was the first thing that made it stand out to me and the performance it has is what has made me fall in love with it.
Been using my x pro 3 after coming from the x100F, love the build, how it feels in the hand and paired with weather sealing, dual card slots it really does make a great camera despite the age. Megapixel count is perfect even for decent prints too!
That’s how I feel too, spec wise it’s a pro level camera and it’s also a lot cooler looking than other brands pro level cameras! It has a very timeless and subdued style.
I own the Xpro 3 for the second time. I own three Leicas, but I always regretted selling my GT Xpro, so I bought a like-new one again, and I am glad it is back.
Sounded like GAS, BUT I UNDERSTAND. I did the same with the X-pro 2 only because I could not see enough improvement in the x-pro3. Nothing wrong with a bit of GAS.
I had an X-Pro2, but sold it and moved to a Canon R6. Takes great images, but it's chunky for EDC and not a lot of fun. The reason I didn't go for a Pro3 was not that LCD, it's because of that fiddly Shutter Speed/ISO combo dial. On my Pro2 I found it difficult to adjust ISO on the fly and there was no workaround like the X-100 offers. Three years on I learn that Fuji did add in the option to control ISO with the front command dial, but not one reviewer mentioned it because they were so fixated on that LCD. Now I'm on the hunt for a Pro3, which is proving difficult because it's been discontinued and there is no word on when (or if) there will be a Pro4.
After using it I kinda hope the X-pro line keeps this theme going considering the generations all have the same sensor . It just feels radically different to use and I like that.
I am with you there , I wanted something different and that’s why I decided to get this camera over another Sony mirrorless camera that honestly would have made more sense for my workflow. I was looking for something not many people use, that gave an excellent image. And most importantly I wanted something that would make me want to be curious about it and inspire me to go shoot!
The x-70 is a camera I’ve always wanted to try out, I love the small and compactness of it. It’s crazy how as photographers we go through cycles of thinking we need the latest gear with all the bells and whistles. And oftentimes that leads us to a bigger means better mentality when it comes to purchasing a camera, the bigger the lens the more pro we think we look, the bigger the camera body the more serious we think people will take us. I think whether the photographer is shooting good photos or not that generally comes from a place of insecurity. I think as photographers become more confident in their work they will shoot with anything at any price point and not worry about it!
HAHA I feel you with the G.A.S. I went to a local camera store to try out an x100v and XE4 as an every-day carry option. However, I just didn't like the way they felt in hand. There were a few older X-Pro models sitting on the shelf and as soon as picked one up I knew I had to have one. Found a used X-Pro3 in dura black with only 800 shutter actuations for an insane $1200 and, despite also having an XH2, it's still the camera I grab when I just want to have fun. There is just some magic there that is hard to explain. I have an old XF 35mm f/1.4 that pretty much lives on that camera body. I've also gotten into 35mm film lately which has just made me appreciate the process of using the X-Pro3 even more. Sure, I miss the LCD from time to time, but I have other cameras that I can use in that case. As it stands, I don't regret buying the X-Pro3. The images I get out of it are some of my favorites that I have taken, and it is an incredibly capable camera. There is an old saying that goes, "the best camera is the one you have on you." I don't think that is true, though. I think it's more along the lines of, "the best camera is the one that inspires you to take photos." For me, the X-Pro3 is the best camera.
I couldn’t agree more, when buying the X-Pro3 I knew it would be a photography 1st camera for me and that was one of its selling points. I have other cameras for videos some of which are video only and I think sometimes it’s great to get a camera with everything built in but I also believe it’s ok to use a hammer as a hammer and a screwdriver as a screwdriver, if that makes sense. Sometimes I want to be limited in what a pice of gear can do, for me that’s when my creativity thrives. Also you found an amazing deal on your X-Pro 3, great job there!
Subscribed! I truly love my XPro3 in Dura black. I purchased it when it was first introduced. I had a great time wandering around Minneapolis last weekend. It makes me want to take the camera out and shoot! I have been a little worried about reports of the rear LCD failing due to a "ribbon" failure. Some say do not fully extend the LCD.
Awesome, I’m glad you are here! This is the first camera in a long time that I’ve owned that makes me want to go shoot. I have also had reservations about the lcd ribbon but I have decided to use the lcd as little as possible and that’s alright by me since with this camera I don’t typically review my images till I get back to my studio and I use the menu features through the viewfinder.
Don't worry dude. I'm a huge huge Fuji fan and I bough this camera a couple of weeks ago too. It was also love at first sight. I just loved the appearance of the camera, i.e., small, discreet and simply beautiful. But I learned to concentrate on my photography instead of the technical side of the camera. This camera is a game changer. You learn to love it more with time. I use the black anchor links from peak design on the black body though. The only thing that I miss on this camera is IBIS. I like using vintage lenses and it can be very helpful to have IBIS.
Thats my goal as well ; to concentrate on the photos I am making and shoot with intentionality and less "Banger" hunting. I have seen some really good things about using vintage MANUAL only lenses with this camera and I am definitely intrigued to try it out!
Buddy, do not worry. I bought a Leica M10 in 2023 when the camera was launched in 2017. I think ultimately is buy what you need and what you enjoy. I really enjoy the rangefinders from the older M series and do not enjoy large photos where it clogs up my computer space quickly. Do not see the need to pay brand new for M11 for something I do not utilize as of right now, hence the M10 with a better lens. Buy what you enjoy, shoot what you love.
That I totally agree with! Almost any camera made in the last decade is capable of taking great photos, now its just up to the photographers to get the shot! I still haven’t dipped my foot into the Leica pond but I love seeing the image co int out of them.
I love this camera too. I uesd xt3 for 1 year, then I changed it to Nikon Z6ii. But the weight of z6ii made me feel bad to go out with me. Recentlly, I am waiting for the fujifilm summit. Have no idea weather there's a xpro4 this month, if not, I'll choose xt5 instead.
Great video man - I’m feeling a bit burnt out myself and I’m in the middle of researching a new camera - Led me to your video :) I’ll have to check one out :) Thank You :)
Hey thanks for watching, the camera has definitely helped me get out of my photography slump and I haven’t had buyers remorse on this one yet so it all seems to be working out right now!
I have an X-T5 but i was soooo close on getting the X-Pro3 i really love the look and feel of the camera. But once in a great while i need good video so i opted for the xt5. I can't wait for the X-Pro4 and see much better EVF improvement and hopefully new recepies.
The X-T5 is such a rad camera, I though about going that route or the xh2s because by trade I am mainly a cam op/cinematographer, my only drawback was I have other video centric cameras so I decided I needed a photography 1st camera this time.
I did the same tree month ago. 22 years shooting with canon and 12 with Nikon… something is telling me to reconnect. I bought 2 Fuji XT4 ❤And I reborn 👌📸 hugs from Portugal
Good video Drew. Fuji definitely has something special to offer versus the mainstream brands like Canon and Sony. Looks like you’re enjoying the X-Pro3 already and that 18mm lens make it a great EDC combo. I’m eagerly awaiting the X-Pro4 to see what kind of GAS it gives me lol. Curious what sling bag you are using at 6:42? It appears to fit the camera nicely, even though it’s looks fairly slim.
I thought about waiting for the x-pro 4 but I was nervous with all of the controversy surrounding the sub monitor that fujifilm might take it away on the next iteration. That’s one of my favorite features of the camera. Also the bag is the Hex brand ranger crossbody bag, the fit is a bit snug with a lens hood on the camera but once you remove it the camera slides in and out nicely. The bag is made really well also
I usually use Leica and Pentax cameras, but i was looking for something a little bit different to add to the collection. Saw the xpro 3 and had to know more about it. It was either the xpro 3 or the M10/11….the easy choice was the xpro 3. Never used a Fuji camera before or even saw one in person. Ordered it sight unseen and was pleasantly surprised! Like you said about reigniting the fun and fire for photography, this camera has done it for me. I was surprised to find out the day after I bought it that Fuji discontinued it. My only gripe is that (I don’t blame Fuji because every company is now guilty of it) the photos are SHARP, but almost too sharp. Older digital cameras and lenses still had some softness, enough to make them realistic, but everything now is so focused on how overly sharp photos can be created. No character, no feeling or blemishes, errors and mistakes, etc in the actual photos. With all of that said, the xpro 3 is a lot of fun an enjoyable regardless of this current sharpness war trend!
I completely agree with you about oversharpening in photography and cameras sometime making the photos so tack sharp that the image isn’t enjoyable to look at, it doesn’t mimic real life. Most ca,eras allow you to adjust the sharpness to a certain degree but not other parameters that go along with it, that’s why FUJIFILM is rad because you can adjust so MANY parameters in camera to get the image exactly how you like it! Also I was at first annoyed about Fuji discontinuing the x-pro 3 however it makes it a more unique and special camera for me when not everyone has one.Mine is the 1st one I have seen out in public and I am the 1st one to use an X-PRO3 out of all of my photography friends.
@@Drewxcifer you said the words much better than I could! I was really surprised and happy to see with FUJIFILM how much a user could actually tweak settings to get the look they’re going for. My Leica and Pentax don’t give anywhere near that amount of control at all. One thing I forgot to add in that I really like so far about the FUJIFILM cameras is that how affordable the lenses are. It’s still a lot of money, don’t get me wrong, but for the price and the features you get on them it’s really difficult to beat. My current go to on the xpro 3 is the 23mm f2 R WR and for $449 new I’m honestly surprised how they can sell it at that price. Do you have any suggestions for Fuji lenses with some character that fit well on the xpro 3?
@@Deetroiter that’s another good thing about the brand, because with most other camera brands to get affordable lenses you have to go third party. I really enjoy shooting prime lenses and I like wide angle lenses, so the lens that has been living on my X-PRO-3 is the 18mm F2 which can be bought used for under $400. I also lie, the 23mm f2 that you have as well as the 35mm f2 and a good zoom I’d recommend is the 16-80mm f4! I will make a video on all of this lenses eventually, I really love reviewing lenses.
If you like a ‘less sharp’ image, have a look at second-hand Fuji cameras with an X-Trans II sensor. I have an XE2S and it produces beautiful colours in what for me is the closest look to colour film. It also feels great in the hand and has built-in flash, so it makes a great EDC with the 27mm pancake lens. Check out Chris Orange, who is an enthusiast for the older Fuji sensors/cameras.
@@Deetroiter you can take a look at Voigtländer Nokton X mount series: 23f1.2 and 35f1.2 very similar in size to Fujinon f2 R WR series. Manual focus and electronic communication with the camera. Very nice experiencie shooting with them.
I am running Sony and Canon cameras as my work cameras and decided to purchase the Fuji camera for my personal camera only. It’s my go to camera for personal use that I take with me everywhere I go be walking or travelling as the size is so discrete in comparison to the other bodies that I own. Oddly, I never actually bothered with Fujifilm cameras as I always thought that they were basic domestic level cameras with no real wow factor until one day I was on the web and went to Fujis website and that’s when the bug bit.
Same here, I sort of just looked at fujifilm like Kodak, sort of washed up, clinging on for life with film. Then I slowly got back into Fuji recently and a whole new world opened up for me. I am really stoked on photography again
I'll be watching bro, sounds fantastic. I appreciate the gear lust haha. I still dream of an A7S3 as I always seem to film in pitch black. However I am loving my GH6 and still my beloved ole T7i/800D Canon. I take tonnes of photos but they only really go on my Google account as most are friends or us screwing around haha, with the odd street, landscape, wildlife one thrown in the mix. Night is really my thing though, I love night video and photography. Just have some, I dunno affinity I guess to night for some reason. I don't like sunlight but love the dark. I. Must be kinda odd haha. Great upload mate can't wait to see what you do with it.
I bet you have some killer shots with all of the cool places you go! I would upload to glass if you don’t already, it’s a WAY less stressful photo community over there. I love night shots as well and I keep telling myself I need to make a lowlight photography Video. Biggest issue is I NEED some collaborators to help film and I don’t have any currently!
It’s the HEX BRAND Ranger crossbody sling. I’ve got a video on it here ruclips.net/video/8jDOT7B6RO8/видео.htmlsi=g6cI4ORr74MB8uPO. It’s pretty perfect for an edc bag.
It's enticing. The X-Pro2 was the most inspiring camera I ever used (I shot with the X-T1, X-T2, X-H1, x100f) and lots of Nikons and Canons in the past. I shouldn't have sold it. It doesn't come close to the image quality of my current Sony full frame camera but there was something special about just making images with the old X-Pro. $1800 to go back...dunno yet. Could sell the whole shelf of stuff and just retire to the X-Pro3, 35mm f1.4 and the 18-55 and call it good.
I use to shoot Sony Mirrorless for photography and my Sony always gave me great images but the camera wasn’t fun and it lacked character, and I always wanted to put bigger lenses on it and it became cumbersome to carry as an EDC. I still use it for video purposes BUT. My Xpro 3 has replaced it entirely for photography and I am having a blast shooting photos again because honestly when EVERY photo comes out as a “banger” so easily, photography gets boring and clinical. To me FUJIFILM made me have fun with photography again and thats worth every penny I spent. I keep an 18mm 2.8 on it and that ALL I need and the small form factor its a TRUE EDC!
You’re correct - that is a good looking camera but alas, a touch out of my price range having recently upgraded a camera. That GAS attraction is strengthening so I’ll have to put my mind to something else 😅.
That GAS is sometimes hard to avoid haha! This camera wasn’t the most sensible camera choice for me but man has it brought the joy back of taking photos!
I’m probably gonna replace my micro four thirds kit with an Xpro 3 and a few primes. My Leica M10 made me hate zoom lenses. And I’m trying to fix my GAS so I’m doing so much research on different cameras to see which one can be my one main camera and my Leica for more please/leisure shooting. The Xpro 3 checks a lot of things I’m wanting. Especially the rangefinder style body and ability to have an OVF. 26MP is more than enough for me and I’m sure the image quality and dynamic range will be enough. I don’t care that the Xpro 3 is 3 years old, I’m sure it’s a joy to use and that’s another big thing I look for in a camera. The camera needs to be a joy to use. So I’m gonna rent one after my Leica SL sells and hopefully it’s all I want in a camera that will satisfy my wants and needs in a everyday and semi professional camera.
So far I’m loving this camera and haven’t felt the need to pick up my other cameras for photography purposes. From the sounds of it I think you’d be really happy with the Xpro 3 as well especially if you are looking for something to partner with your Leica. If you want to see anything more In-depth about the Xpro 3 let me know and I can cover it in a video this coming week as I planned to drop a few more videos on the camera anyway.
@@Drewxcifer would like to see the low light performance of the Xpro 3 since it doesn’t have IBIS. As well as what zoom lens you recommend. I will use mostly primes but a ultra wide to wide angle zoom lens would be at least the one zoom lens I would want if I was to get this camera.
Had an Xpro3 in 2022, sold it 😢. Bought the x100v thinking it was going to change my life. Don't get me wrong it was the perfect walk around camera. But it wasn't the Xpro3. Fast forward to a week ago. I sold my x100v to get the Xpro3 back in my life.
No issues so far, also I don’t use the screen on this camera so no big deal when/if it does fail. And if it takes a few years to fail, I’ll have found a new edc camera by then anyway.
I’m loving it so far, currently nailing down my favorite film sims then I’ll be all set to create some more videos on this camera! Do you have any favorite film recipes?
Great Vid! Love the style and shooting experience with my Pro3 combined with 35 1.5. Super lovely images. Not perfect but way more than what i need. Btw, after a year my camera has developed a shutter button problem. Doesn't take the shot evry time on full depress. anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks, glad you are still enjoying the pro-3, I think I will definitely be picking up a 35mm lens in the near future, thats a great focal length for this body. I hate that you have a shuttle r button problem, I have seen a lot of people getting sub monitor issues because of their constant opening and closing of the main lcd screen, I’ve decided to use my main lcd as little as possible to circumvent that problem.
Hi,,good video, i choosing buy a camera for street and some portraits,,, i am between fuji xpro3 or 2,,, fuji xe4 or panasonic gx9? wich you consider to have the best image quality and material buits? Thanks!
That all depends on your budget, I prefer the pro 3 over those other cameraS BUT if you can find the xe-4 between 1200-1300 bucks I’d pick that one up with a solid prime lens.
@@Drewxcifer thanks for answering and subscribed,,,tell me please wich lenses do you recomended for that two cameras,,,better if has stabilization and weather sealing both, something like 16-70mm range....do you thing xpro 2 is still a good shot?
@@ciudadanosdelcosmos no problem, I like prime lenses so I like the 18mm f2 and the 27mm 2.8 WR . The 10-24 is also a good option although slightly bigger than the previous two. I prefer a small or pancake lenses for easy every day carry.

Hey thanks for watching, the camera has definitely helped me get out of my photography slump and I haven’t had buyers remorse on this one yet so it all seems to be working out right now!
@@Drewxcifer Awesome man :)
That’s a long time shooting and I hope that I have that many years of it!
Nice! I have an Xpro2. Love it. 1:16
The bag is made really well also
@@Drewxcifer Thanks for the info on the bag. I’ll check it out.
Love my X-PRO3, amazing cams.
It’s SO good!
@@Drewxcifer exactly. I thought the brand was washed up. I thought wrong.
What sling bag you rocking there chief? Looks like the perfect size
It’s the HEX BRAND Ranger crossbody sling. I’ve got a video on it here ruclips.net/video/8jDOT7B6RO8/видео.htmlsi=g6cI4ORr74MB8uPO. It’s pretty perfect for an edc bag.
@@Drewxcifer ah amazing, sure looks that way. Cheers mate!
I'm a great fun of the instax too 😅
They are such fun cameras to have and make memories with, my house has so many instagram photos displayed around and they make great gifts also!
Nice video….great work…I have done exactly the same for the same reasons! Would love to see how you are getting on with it in a few months time.
Thanks! Also glad to hear I’m not the only one! I’ll definitely be creating more content covering this camera in the next couple of weeks!
What sling bag do you use for your xpro3?
Hey I have a video on my channel dedicated just to this bag BUT its called the HEX BRAND sling V2
@@Drewxcifer neat thanks!
The documentary is great. Fucking loved it. Love my xpro 3 :)
I can' t think of another camera brand that has done something like that before!
The XPRO-3 is the perfect EDC camera, I know it gets some hate but it has been my favorite Fujifilm camera by far
What lens did u have on the camera ?
It was the 18mm F2 Fujifilm lens!
Good luck with the faulty screen connector, and sudden crashes. (Give or take it will fail maybe in a couple of years like many others)
No issues so far, also I don’t use the screen on this camera so no big deal when/if it does fail. And if it takes a few years to fail, I’ll have found a new edc camera by then anyway.
@@Drewxcifer knock on wood, there’s many lemons out there
ayy that's my workhorse too :) enjoy!
I’m loving it so far, currently nailing down my favorite film sims then I’ll be all set to create some more videos on this camera! Do you have any favorite film recipes?
@@Drewxcifer I always shoot raw for stills, but I've done a number of street walks with Acros + R and the shots always look fantastic.
@@Drewxcifer i expressed bad,,sorry,,english is not my native language,i mean a lenses zoom 16-70 or something like that....
In the other hand like sony a6600(with tamron 17-70mm) like it but has horrible lcd screen resolution and poor viewfinder res. too...and sony a7c overheating issue,,,hard choice, i like a alot fx 30 but having only electronic viewfinder is a deal breaker for me.....
@@ciudadanosdelcosmos don’t apologize your English is great, there is a 16-80mm f4 lens that is great and it’s a perfect carry everywhere lens.
I feel all cameras are made for me. So now I'm a camera hoarder I guess.
You know I am starting to feel the same way, I don’t know if there is a camera that I DON’T have a use for! Haha
@@Drewxcifer 😂😂there's ALWAYS a camera for the "occasion."
Precisa de ter os braços borrados para fazer fotografias?
TLDR
your video is great, unfortunately the sound is very bad and annoying. Have you probably already noticed. Otherwise, I find your video very interesting.
Thanks for the feedback, I am trying to nail down some audio things in my videos. which mic to use how to best position it in my space etc. What type of device were you watching my video on out of curiosity?
