  • Sharptail grouse hunting behind dogs in northeastern North Dakota. Sharptail grouse are such an enjoyable bird to hunt. A native bird of the prairie, these birds will often hold well for a pointing dog. The sharptail season typically opens in mid September and many upland bird and dog enthusiasts hunt sharptails religiously, especially through the first few weeks of the season before pheasant season opens. Besides bumping several sharptail grouse, we also find a few coveys of Hungarian partridge.

I finally tried sharptail grouse hunting for the first time this year. I can't believe I waited this long to hunt these birds.

Funny thing is this guy will probably shoot his foot off after talking about the kid having to comply with his arbitrary rules. Need a better dog German bearded dogs are not only ugly, cumbersome, but ain't worth a red cent!
