As of 5pm on 8 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 7,978 have died.
People should have voted the conservatives out. We found out the UK would be devastated in the case of a respiratory pandemic during Theresa May's government, during a "war game" called exercise Cygnus. We found we didn't have enough respirators or enough PPE. Nothing has been done about this since then, and they have continued to cut funds to the NHS. If you only want to participate in electoral politics, at least vote for the party in your constituency that has the best chance of removing these incompetent Torys.
Stop the mp's from takeing £10,000 bonus and give all that money to the doctors and nurses on the front line , doctors and nurses demand that money we the public are with you ,

£134 billion of nhs debt was written off hmm what's the story behind that ??? Our government is so clever that's tax payers money let's right that off then after the pandemic is over it's easy for a private investor to buy out the NHS with zero debt, see the bigger picture???

@mike b so if they have so much money, why is there no PPE. I work there. We have nothing. Literally nothing. Nothing has changed. No PPE ordered. We have signs hanging around telling us what we should be wearing. Where is it. Only when the TV crews come they bother to give the staff some PPE

@@fuckamericanidiot "Thank you" is just words, and in the end is worth nothing. If they do not back up their "thank you" with some positive action going forward then the Tory MPs are just as worthless as the "thank you" they are spouting. First, they can action that payrise they blocked last year - the one they cheered at when they overturned it. Second, Boris can make those 3000 extra nurses happen, the ones he promised during his General Election pledge. Then, stop the backstage privatisation of the NHS, it just drives quality down and cost up, and reverse that which has already happened.
@steve gale The Tories have had over a decade to turn around the PFIs, instead they have gone further and privatised the NHS backstage, there are private companies at work all over the place in NHS hospitals, charging sky-high prices, and providing under-trained staff and sub-par equipment. If the Tories were serious about the NHS, they would have turned off the PFIs, and reversed this undercover privatisation.
They don't need your thanks, they need PPE :)

Please stop saying we're all in the same boat. No, we aren't. Some lucky ones are on luxury yachts. Many more are on ferries. Many more again are in cabin cruisers and dinghies. Millions are in canoes. Millions more are in lifebelts. Billions are treading water. Billions are drowning. Who knows how many are on the Titanic?

Sadly there have been record deaths in the last 48hrs in the UK. Much of this as a result of government dithering less than a month ago, with the PM playing down the pandemic and happily offering to shake hands with those affected by COVID-19. The PM continues to be on life support, and the NHS underfunded and understaffed. Thankfully Germany (who have far fewer deaths yet more cases than the UK) are giving a large number of ventilators to the UK. Kudos

You are right, sadly I reckon you could easily double the number.
Shame that he could not apologise for voting against awarding NHS workers a pay rise a couple of years ago & cheering along with his Tory colleagues when they defeated the motion in the House of Commons. Maybe apologise for raping & pilaging the NHS funding for the last 10 years so that it had to begin its response to this crisis on the back foot, perhaps appologise for fostering a hostile environment that has seen NHS staff from the EU leave in droves & subsequently not then fill the 40,000 vacancies that exist. What about PPE? The Government were warned only a coup,e of years ago that they would be under prepared & stocked for such an emergency but the had the report dumbed down & suppressed as they did not want to fund the findings that highlighted the inadequacy.

Welcome to Tory Britain. If we had voted in Corbyn, he would have immediately started piling in billions to the NHS, and we would have been 3 months on the road to a better NHS when this hits. Remeber this at the next General Election. Remember who cheered when a payrise for Nurses was overturned. Remember who promised an extra 3000 nurses at the GE and went back on the promise the first month in office.

Another day, another Mr Bean telling us how much they value the health service and value key workers, while said workers go without PPE and are expected to put themselves at continued personal risk. Empty words from people who never expected that their underfunding and cuts to the NHS would result in something like this, and show up how much damage they've done. And now they talk about clapping the carers who, before, they deemed not deserving of a pay rise. They clapped then, too.

How come the government admire and constantly bleat on about the amazing work the NHS do now? The government cut funding for a decade. Did they care then? The reason NHS staff aren't being tested is that due to the lack of PPEs many may have contracted the virus and thus will be forced to self isolate. As staff numbers rae low due to no real wage rises and hisse cuts from the government they will be even more pressures on remaining staff members.

@@mushhs7395 Change the system first. If you win 1/3 of votes in the UK, you can get either half the seats in Parliament or none at all (no majority in a constitutancy). Representation is better and is the first way forward. If we used this, Lib Dems would've gotten 70 seats and there would've been increases for Greens and Labour too. Tories would've had about 290, so the government would've been a Labour coalition.
