    I worked for Carvin in the early 2000s when the company was run by adults. Jeff always wandered around like a spoiled teenager with his hair on fire. A couple years ago I even tried to make the now Kiesel Guitars a new website for free to make the online buying experience actually good...but Jeff would not do it. RIP Carvin.

      I had one built in 2016. They really are outstanding, well-made top tier guitars. I'm not a fanboy and it's the only Kiesel I have. Jeff Kiesel has a big ego, he's arrogant and needs to up his professionalism but the people who work at his factory really make nice custom guitars for a reasonable price if you don't go crazy with customizations.

    That 3-color thing is just an extra option on TOP of the change in process. The change is that the fretboard will come from the same billet of wood as the neck blank whenever they can, and when they can't, the color grading will help them match fretboards to necks because they are made in two different areas of the factory.

Having said that, I think that reality check, like a dog being hit in the nose with a newspaper, was ultimately a humbling experience for Jeff; and I believe he'll learn from it. @@louistorres yeah, Jeff is a bit douchey, but, as you stated, sometimes an "ego" has to have the confidence to excel and exceed one's competitors. I do believe he learned a valuable life lesson here. If he matures a little bit from this, his guitars will improve commensurately as well

    @lueysixty-six7300 2 года назад +2

    You're the guy? I saw that video...it was a complaint over the baked maple not being dark enough, right??
    Yeah I remember...I remember Jeff carrying on, kicking rocks like a teenager getting detention.
    He was saying shit like ,"We can't control how the wood colours during the baking process!" - but that's not entirely true. He can control his quality control.
    What's the John West Ad, "It's what John West rejects that makes John West the best", right..?
    That's what Jeff needs to realise : it's entirely on him to ensure a quality product. And what he really needs to learn is what I learnt in Marketing 101 at Uni :it's better to lose money making a customer happy..than to leave an unhappy customer to get disgruntled.
    A happy customer may tell 2 or 3 people about it, but a disgruntled customer will tell 50! They won't stop telling people about it! They'll pull up stranger's, just to say, "Hey that Jeff Kiesel guy....etc"!
    And look this is proof : you're broadcasting your grievance to who knows how many people.
    That's why you bend over backwards to make sure you don't have an unhappy customer. You don't have to make every customer walking on sunshine - you just have to take special care with the complaints..and pick your battles.
    PS. What's worse is - you know, had he just agreed to replace the neck from the outset, this wouldn't have cost Jeff a cent - he'd have re-gifted that neck on some other guitar, and sent it to the next Schmuck, hoping they'd cop it sweet!

    I stopped the video once he said he said he didn't dislike him. Jeffy needs to ve blasted continually about it. It was an immature, petty thing to do. Jeffy RULE 1. The customer is always right. Taking 1 guitar back and putting a new neck on it has such minimal costs in the grand picture, complaining about it was juvenile. And for him to ever consider even banning someone is asinine. I'm so disappointed you didn't blast him like he needs to be blasted. His inner a**hole came out. Its one thing to do it withing the company, but to post it is another. He ONLY APOLOGIZED because he lost orders.

    • @louistorres
      @louistorres  4 года назад +1

      I agree with you that a large part of him apologizing is because of the business he lost. He was terribly juvenile in that video but we've all had to learn lessons in life and have had to apologize. It's tough to do and in his case, he had to make a very public apology. Like I mentioned in the video, folks can forgive but it's hard to forget. The one thing he's changed in the weeks since is he's stopped doing his live video rage. We'll all forget soon enough and most will continue buying Kiesel guitars bc in the end, aside from the occasional hiccup, they really do a great job. For an American brand, I'm glad they refuse to outsource their builds to China. So there's something to be said about being an American company that's still in the U.S.. : ) We've all messed up in life and if we are hopeful to be forgiven by friends and family then we ought to forgive just as well. Not everyone feels the same and that's okay.

    The bottom line is, the order was not what the customer asked and paid for. Jeff should not have been an asshole. When you pay a lot of money for a guitar and it's not right, the company should fix it. It's not professional and its bad customer service. If I were that guy, that would be the last Keisel I ever bought if he refused to fix it and apologize. I can tell you he ONLY apologized because he was called out. I mean, ordering a guitar sight unseen is a risk even if it is from a reputable company, but getting attitude from the company when what you ordered isn't correct is wrong. I mean, this is not like your ordering a Chibson from China and it's not what it looks like in the picture LOL. I guarantee you Jackson, Mayones, PRS etc... would not do that. If you are a business owner and stand by your work, then do the right thing. It also shows what kind of person you are.

    Big fan of Carvins, had a buddy with one and it played like a dream. However Jeff's rants online have turned me off to the brand much like other guitar enthusiasts. Lots of guys have felt the same and have chosen to go for other brands bc of that neck issue. It was sad seeing his rant and being terribly unprofessional regarding a minor issue with a lifelong Carvin/ Kiesel owner. That situation has and will probably cost him tens of thousands of lost revenue in the long run. When companies like Sears and Toys R Us can go bankrupt, Kiesel shouldn't forget that they can too.

    I have three Carvin guitars and a vintage X100B amp. Love them all. I used to hang around the Hollywood store a bunch and got to know the dudes that ran the place - great guys. He would come in from time to time and they all made fun of him behind his back because he's a self-obsessed dickhead. I got to meet him a couple of times and he's basically a tatted-up version of the Collin Farrell character from Horrible Bosses. His grandfather and daddy gave him a company and he's a spoiled brat man-child who acts like he invented custom guitars. I won't ever buy from Kiesel because I can't bear the thought of having a nickel of my money going into his pocket. It really sucks though, because the guitars are a good value for the money and I like the customization possibilities. But the idea of empowering that self-aggrandizing dickface is more than I can stomach.

      You've got it all wrong. I can guarantee if you bought a new car at a dealership where the salesman was a douche, you would never go back there again. It's the same. Go buy a guitar for $3,000 and when they treat you like garbage, let me know how that feels and if you keep that guitar or sell it. I hear what you're saying but I bet you complain to companies over lesser issues than the owner talking to you like your money doesn't matter because he's richer than you and doesn't care about what you think of him. It's easy to say but if you've ever complained to any business in your life, there you have it. If you never have, maybe one day it'll happen and you'll understand why a guy who spent $35,000 on guitars throughout the years got upset when the owner decided to treat him like the gum on the bottom of his shoe. They lost tens of thousands on revenue when lots of guitarists caught wind and cancelled their guitar orders. A few weeks later, he made a video apologizing to everyone. When egos come first, eventually, you'll get hit in the wallet... This was that example.

    One would think that being in the position the Jeff Kiesel is in that he would pay attention to the influence that he has in the guitar world.
    They make some of the most beautiful, and playable guitars in the industry.
    Regardless of his stance that he has, o e would also think he would try to have some humility about him. If I am saying that correctly. Like, basically, don't be a boob and knock people, or other brands, that I have heard him do in some videos.

Sahana's headless is a little pricy ($1500), but they can make a full custom of their shapes from 1000 to 1300. Mine will cost me $1199, that with their custom pickups in it. I like Jeff his rant about the roasted maple neck was out of line but it was during an incredibly stressful time for us all (Plannedemic). He's like Yngwie. Lol. I personally know Kiesel artists who can't stand Jeff, this is years before covid. I've also talked to guys who worked at Carvin/ Kiesel and watched Jeff grow up. The three I've chatted with all disliked him as a kid, disliked him as a teen, disliked him as a young adult and after years of working there, left after Jeff took over. I love my Kiesel and Carvin guitars but if I based my decision solely on Jeff, I would never own any. When a guy is a repeat customer, with 25+ guitars by your company, you treat them like gold. I feel like the issue is that anything pre-Jeff doesn't count in his life. Just my honest opinion, based on what I've seen and from employees who worked there for over 20 years. Look at Yngwie, great guitarist but most don't like his personality. Can't take away the incredible skills he has but his ego forces a lot of guys to skip his shows. Me being one, and Yngwie played 15 minutes from my house. Hard pass on Yngwie; and Jeff is lucky more guys didn't opt for a Kiesel hard pass as well. I love my Kiesel Aries, literally one of my all-time favorite guitars and my black matte was a featured guitar on their website for a long time and I love that it was.
