I think the Rhythm Heaven director losing his vocals from cancer treatment is a big reason why there hasn't been another game in a while. He did a lot of the vocals himself.
My most anticipated games are Dragon Quest 1+2 HD-2D Remake, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition, and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. And of course the Switch 2 and whatever new games/ports that will bring along.
My most anticipated games: - Avowed - Slay the Spire 2 - Expedition 33 - Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster - Fable - Metroid Prime 4 - Civilization 7 - The Outer Worlds 2 - Hades 2 (full release) - Doom The Dark Ages And hopefully, an Octopath Traveler 3 announcement! Layton is actually on the Switch already- Katrielle & the Millionaires’ Conspiracy got a slick remaster in 2019, but very few have played it (I really enjoy that one). Still, it’ll be great to see LEVEL-5 capitalize on how smooth Katrielle was adapted to a single-screen on Switch, and apply those systems to a brand new game for the Professor.

I am just so excited for Metroid Prime 4. I beat Metroid Prime Remastered last year and it was probably one of the most immersive games I’ve played. I have Metroid Prime 2 & 3, but I’m still waiting to play it on Switch. @@escargoat8552As someone who largely enjoys both, Eternal is just a lot more fun to me. The environments in 2016 feel very samey and drab as they just get dull after a while, whereas Eternal has a lot more variety in terms of its own locations and encourages exploration as well. In addition, it feels more arcade-y than 2016, which was more or less a linear shooter, due to all the different upgrades and mechanics it introduces, along with it incentivizing you to use additional weapons more due to the changes in how ammo works. Eternal is so much more fun to play. The music, yeah, 2016 was better, but other than that, I think eternal is just better overall, especially in the gameplay department.
Pretty sure Expedition 33 was announced at Xbox Games Showcase, but yeah, that game looks awesome! I'll try it first on PC Game Pass, then buy it if I enjoy it.
For me in this order, I'm excited for: - Monster Hunter Wilds - Doom The Dark Ages - Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Sort of an honorable mention: - Mina The Hollower. This is one that I was really excited for last year and the year before but it's been so long since we've heard anything that my hype for it has simmered. 😢
Just from what we know so far, yeah, my list is pretty healthy already: Tales of Graces f, Atelier Yumia, Xenoblade X, Layton, Metroid Prime Beyond, Shantae Risky's Revolution, Pokemon Z-A, Dragon Quest 1&2
I am very excited for some new games for the new system, but funny enough, im very excited to try out some current games on the new system. I have never played a xenoblade game before, except for X on the wii u. I decided to put xenoblade 2 and 3 in particular aside, precisely to see if these games would get ported or upscaled. Now that backward compatibility is confirmed, im greatly excited to try a ton of games i have not tried on the current switch. My library is definitely going to get a lot bigger
This year is looking crazy for games! Some that I'm most looking forward to are Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime 4, GTA 6, MGS Delta Snake Eater, Marvel 1943, Pokemon Legends Z-A, Judas and maybe Jet Set Radio if it releases in time for the 25th anniversary, and that's not even counting unannounced games like the likely 3D Mario
My most anticipated game for 2025 is one that may not be released outside Japan until 2026... *The Legend of Heroes: Trails (insert whichever translation used - into Orbit? of Time?) - Farewell o Zemuria. This subseries of "The Legend of Heroes" franchise has been ongoing for now _over 20-years._ I can hardly wait to see how the story ends...only for it leave on a cliffhanger that segues into a new The Legend of Heroes series...
I like the idea of it being called "Trails through Boundaries". I think it's fitting given the current situation of being bound to Zemuria as described in CS4. Also I'm not sure we'll get the "Farewell O Zemuria" subtitle as they've always dropped those in the localizations. I do really hope it comes in 2025 though. I know they've been catching up since releasing the Crossbell duology, but a part of me is worried it may be early 2026.
21:50 The reason RIVAL SCHOOLS isn't on the CAPCOM FIGHTING COLLECTION 2 is the same reason the original Star Gladiator isn't on it. Something to do with the PS1 emulation. Plasma Sword is a PS1 game but the version on the upcoming collection is based on the Dreamcast version. Basically, Capcom is keeping this collection pure Naomi board. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (and 3 Upper) also ran on Naomi, not CPS2.
pokemon z-a, luigi’s mansion 4, new mario kart & mario 3D, silent hill f, maybe a new IP from monolith soft, kingdom hearts 4, dragon quest 12, Xenoblade X… and hopefully news on the next big zelda game
Why is everyone convinced prime 4 is a graphic showcase? Lol it looks great don't get me wrong, but it looks EXACTLY like prime remastered, and we know its going too lol
I didn’t think MP4’s footage looked especially amazing but remember that Prime 1 Remastered was lauded for it’s visuals and fidelity. Prime 4 looks good for a Switch 1 game but if it’s Switch 2 footage then it ain’t anything special. (It’s def a Switch 1 game)
I think the Switch 2 version will blow us away while the regular version will hopefully be a very stable 60fps with good visual fidelity like the remake. There were accounts of people seeing a Halo looking game running on Switch successor hardware that looked incredible. Metroid has always pushed graphics (artistic design and technical).
the five games im so excited for that have been confirmed so far are clair obscur, death stranding 2, deltarune, metroid prime 4, and the new perfect dark!
Saving Chrono Trigger, Silksong & Half-Life 3 for the end was smart. I do think all three of these will happen in our lifetime, and maybe we’ll get a glimpse at all three in the next year. It’s not impossible.
It's baffling to feel so excited about Rhythm heaven mini-games in Necrodancer which from what i hear are a very small part of the game, considering there are already multiple RH type indie games available (including on Switch) and more are coming in 2025.
It’s interesting how there’s so many games coming but, I genuinely don’t think we’ll see release dates for many of these until GTA 6 gets a release date. Which is a bummer if some go as far as pushing to 2026 but I can honestly understand it if they’re worried about coming out too close to it. I wouldn’t take the chance of releasing even in the same month if I could help it (obviously if GTA is actually a good game and sells beyond the initial rush lol)
For Xenoblade Chronicles X, they only said additional story / or extra story so it's not 100% decided that it will be a conclusion to that ending, though it probably dive a little deeper into it. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended with more mysteries left (which may get explained in a sequel or a different Xeno game.)
I sat down and thought about my most anticipated 2025 games and I came up with the following: 1. Monster Hunter Wilds 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC 3. Doom The Dark Ages 4. Crimson Desert 5. Phantom Blade Zero 6. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 7. Eternal Strands 8. Wuchang Fallen Feathers 9. Metal Gear Solid Delta 10. Constance And like you guys I'm fully expecting GTA6 to miss 2025. Rockstar's big games typically get 2 delays. Remember what happened to RDR2? It got delayed into 2018 from the 2015/6 announcement. Personally, I'd love to see a Visions of Mana style remake for Chrono Trigger using the visuals seen in DQ11 and Sand Land. Modern rendering graphics are able to recreate Toriyama's character, monster, mechanical, and archtitectural design in 3D faithfully.
For me, Civilization VII is both at the top and earliest in the year, but there's also Xenoblade X, Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Z-A. I'm also kinda thinking about GTA VI. And there's the obvious Switch successor and all of its hypothetical games.
Metroid Prime 4, Tales of Graces f Remastered (not sure if that counts since it's so soon), whatever they end up localizing Kai no Kiseki as (my hope is "Trails through Boundaries"), and hopefully a new 3D Mario.
Regarding hollow knight, seems tons of people dont know, the first one atleast were developed by 3 people, i bet its similar for the sequel unless they expanded alot. So its not strange it will take more time than people expect.
There are a lot of games im excited for this year but my top 5 are: 1. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond 2. Fantasy Life i 3. Monster Hunter Wilds 4. Ender Magnolia 5. Doom: the Dark Ages
Tbf as great as Legends Arceus was, it’s a new gameplay style for Pokémon games where all you really do is run around catching Pokémon while fighting the occasional boss, whereas Scarlet/Violet is a more tranditional Pokémon game but in an open-world setting with three different storylines you can do in any order. And so I could see why one would gell with someone and not the other.
@@amirgarcia547 I think that's what made it magical. It changed things up and it worked. The open world in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet wasn't good and was unneeded. The three different stories can be played in any order but there's definitely an order players should do. I'm tired of people wanting games out of order because suddenly developers don't know how to tell a story when that happens.
Dunno if Wolverine is releasing in 2025, but we can only hope. If the leaks are true, we’ll be getting a Venom spin-off game this year while Wolverine won’t be until 2026.
More so curious if we will get any new Mario or Mega Man, and even if that means another legacy collection, hopefully a new numbered game, especially a new X game. I’ve come to the point where I only buy Switch exclusives and everything else on PS5
I wouldn’t be surprised if we get more Mario, given that 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the NES Super Mario Bros. game. With Switch 2 at least being revealed within 3 months, I definitely see them releasing a new Mario game alongside the new console.
@ my genuine thought was that they’d release the Switch successor on March 10 alongside a brand new Mario. I know that’s too logical and predictable for Nintendo.
2025 IS the year we finally get video games! 😂 So far the only games I want to play in 2025 are Pokemon Legends Z-A and Death Stranding 2! I'm considering getting into Monster Hunter Wilds to join some pals for a good time.
What I want more than Chrono Trigger HD 2D is Xenogears remake. Mainly because I'm selfish and I already played Chrono Trigger but never played Xenogears. A game I want that hasn't been announced is a new Monolith Soft game. I don't know how likely that is with Xenoblade X definitive edition coming out next (no, this) year, but I want to see what they are cooking.
Might be in the minority here, but I don't want HD-2D for Chrono Trigger. I'd much prefer 3D like the Trails in the Sky Remake or even Dragon Ball Fighterz/Sparking Zero. HD-2D is very pretty, yes, but IMO, it's mostly just seeing the same old sprites in the context of a lighting engine. If you're gonna make 3D models of the environments, go all out. Make that Toriyama art style really pop on a scale that Chrono Trigger truly deserves.
Before I discovered emulation I spent 260 on Suikoden 2 just to play it then I sold it on eBay for 250, wish I kept it but at that time that was a good portion of rent for me
Sad thing about the new Lunar games someone who worked on the original wanted to do a redub with the old voice cast and they would have done it but they decided to under pay the old voice cast. I hate underpaying acts in the voice acting industry they all deserve respect.
My 2025 top 5 1. Metroid Prime 4 2. Xenoblade Chronicles X-Definitive Edition 3. GTA6* 4. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 5. Suikoden 1&2 *I never beat GTAV so I’m not as excited…I always end up doing something stoopid and running from the cops epically instead of actually doing the story smh😌
Metroid Prime 4, Legends Z-A, Deltarune Chapter 3-4, DOOM Dark Ages and of course the Switch 2 are my most anticipated releases for 2025

Portal 3 and Silksong are my “pie in the sky” picks. It’s time for both!
they will be released 1 month after Half Life X Earthbound
If Half-Life 3 finally happens, Portal 3 becomes very plausible.
Finishing Scarlet and Violet but not Arceus is crazy and this is coming from a big fan of Pokemon
Hades 2 full release, MGS Delta, Slay the Spire 2, Wolverine
Dunno if Wolverine is releasing in 2025, but we can only hope. If the leaks are true, we’ll be getting a Venom spin-off game this year while Wolverine won’t be until 2026.
We’re gonna see Dragon Quest 12 this year. This isn’t copium, I promise.
Twitter links in description I thought we were bluesky gamers now
Great new games for 2025!
Bleach Rebirth souls
Fatal Fury City of the Wolves
Capcom Fighting Collection 2
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound
So far the only games I want to play in 2025 are Pokemon Legends Z-A and Death Stranding 2! I'm considering getting into Monster Hunter Wilds to join some pals for a good time.
......2023?
Chrono Trigger HD 2D? This one they'll follow the FF7 remake route. For certain.
Any news about "Little Devil Inside?"
I want NES REMIX
Is 2025 the year of Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Before I discovered emulation I spent 260 on Suikoden 2 just to play it then I sold it on eBay for 250, wish I kept it but at that time that was a good portion of rent for me
GVG finally mentioning Timesplitters 👏🏻👏🏻
They mentioned it a few times during the TNT era. They showed a lot of love for the series and they were hoping for TS4 to happen.
I didn’t hear anything when the games dropped on PSN. It was huge
Sad thing about the new Lunar games someone who worked on the original wanted to do a redub with the old voice cast and they would have done it but they decided to under pay the old voice cast. I hate underpaying acts in the voice acting industry they all deserve respect.
These first 3 months are packed.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Eternal Strands
The First Berserker Khazan
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Killing Floor 3
I'm mostly excited for Avowed
I will get prime 4, but I’m not too excited about it. I’m excited about any games. Am I old? 😂
Don't give me false hope on a Chrono Trigger HD-2D 😭
I'd like to see a Treasure of the Rudras and Treasure Hunter G HD-2D remake.
New Year 🎉🎉😎🌌😎
I wish we could get a Parasite Eve remaster. I really wanna play it again.
Same, it’s crazy how Squenix has just been sitting on that IP for decades, especially with the recent success of Resident Evil and its own remakes.
My 2025 top 5
1. Metroid Prime 4
2. Xenoblade Chronicles X-Definitive Edition
3. GTA6*
4. Clair Obscur Expedition 33
5. Suikoden 1&2
*I never beat GTAV so I’m not as excited…I always end up doing something stoopid and running from the cops epically instead of actually doing the story smh😌
Prayage Conker comes to Switch....
I can't wait for Capcom Fighting Collection 2
I hope Xenoblade X gets some kind of upgrade on Switch 2.
Half life 3 has a lot of buzz.
We don't know exactly what, but Massahiro Sakurai is directing a game.
If it’s not the new Smash, then I sincerely hope it’s the next Kid Icarus game due to how goated Uprising was.
My "impossible" game wish - Mother 3 HD-2D Remake.
Any kind of new Mother game would definitely be an impossible tier, whether it be a remake or not.
I just want news on Pragmata.
I wish Jon never left nintendolife
My Top3 are (no particular order):
Deltarune Chapter 3-4
Mina the Hollower
Pokemon Legends ZA
You should try Monster Hunter Stories if you don't like Monster Hunter.
I'm looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X
jet set radio!
No release date yet. Speculation that it’s a 2026 title but it’s still too soon to tell 😢
Don't overlook Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
