    this is the exact build i want to do and throw it in a 80s suburban and make an overlanding vehicle that get good mileage and isnt to complicated. this great is there any way to do dual altinators?

      Since this is a non-A/C set-up, you can mount a second alternator in the A/C compressor location (upper passenger side of the engine, where the by-pass pulley is located, if you weren't sure) with some bracket modification. You may need to add a second tensioner set-up as well, to ensure the belt maintains correct tension on all the pulleys. That is assuming you're running the newer serpentine belt set-up, and not the V-belt system.

    can I turbo my stock 6.2 in my humvee? its a 1990

    • @MidnightMechanic
      @MidnightMechanic 6 лет назад +9

      Banks still makes turbo systems for 6.2's since the engine still sells fairly well, less prone to head gasket failure than the 5.7 Olds. It's a good idea to replace the gaskets with performance metal ones anyway, since turbocharging does put more pressure on the heads, and replace the bolts with hardened studs. Make sure to take care of any oil leaks as well, any sort of oil gets into the combustion chamber from the turbo or top end feeds will cause the engine to runaway, and the only way to shut it down is to plug the intake of the turbo as quick as possible.
      Before considering any turbo application, make sure the harmonic balancer is in good shape, they're known for coming apart on 6.2 due to vibration.

    • @1oldskoolluvr
      @1oldskoolluvr 3 года назад +1

      '93 six5's came with the serpentine set-up. The only issue is the water pump runs in the reverse rotation, so the water pump will need to be changed.

    • @thechosen1473
      @thechosen1473 3 года назад +1

      It's a diesel and on an engine stand. So he has to power it up then allow the glow plugs to heat up ( holding the button in) then fire her up. It just looks complicated due to his control panle having all the lights and switches but hes doing the same thing you would do in any diesel. Takes a few more seconds to fire them up unlike a gas engine

      @@ryanburbridge he pulled it out for a rebuild I'm sure and might be selling it as a turn key engine to show it runs before someone buys it or testing it to make sure it runs before he reinstalls it back into his vehicle or people do this from fresh rebuilds then its put on a dyno (with no drive train attached,transmission or rearend) to see what accurate numbers (hp and torque) it pulls from the crank.i cant really see that being the case in this situation

    that is a 6.5 not a 6.2, unless you make an hi rid because the turbo intake in stock 6.5 is located by the passenger side, and the oil tube is at the front side. in 6.2 turbo is smaller and located at the rear part of the engine
