New Year’s resolutions. A helpful tool or a stressful mandate that society seems to expect of us every year? Probably both. If you’re like me, you think about making a list of what you want to accomplish or the type of person you want to become when the clock strikes midnight, but, usually, that list never makes it onto a piece of paper.
We’ve been told that a new year is a perfect opportunity to start our next chapter. To kickstart our health, our relationships, our careers. It can feel overwhelming. We expect something of ourselves.
But let’s take the pressure off for a second. Instead of forcing ourselves to suddenly become enlightened and successful beyond our wildest dreams, can we break down our approach to a new year?

A couple tips for people trying to improve
1. Remember that results aren’t shown in a day. Take your journey slow and remember you’re not on a 1 year time limit.
2. Don’t get tunnel vision. Focusing too hard on one aspect of your life might make it seem like you’re not progressing at all.
3. Inversely, don’t try to improve all areas of your life at once. A man who wants everything has nothing.
Sadly - I don't get to choose what other people do, and my disability relies entirely on other people to do anything. So - 2024 like any other year in the last 20 years will be what other people choose it to be.

#3 is my life with ADHD. Always end up spinning plates but I'm whittling down to a few key projects this year.
I disl8ke the fact that the algorithm stopped recommending your channel. You make some of the most mesmerizing and thought-provoking content I've seen. The quality in your vids is smth else, man, I hope youtube treats you better in the future ❤
Ive turned my phone monochrome, and it INSTANTLY took all of the fun out of scrolling on certain medias which are very visual heavy in their content. (Pinterest, RUclips, etc.) Ive also set a widget to show me my screen time every time i open the homescreen. Just little things make all the difference on changing how your brain sees your phone, how much satisfaction you get from it.
Awesome! We need to be in control of that rectangle, not the other way around.
How do you make that trade off with photos? I tried doing the monochrome thing but I don’t want my photo gallery to be black and white
@@O.Reagano It's all or nothing. If you can't imagine the color on your own, then it wasn't worth your eyes.

@@O.Reagano You can set up an accessibility shortcut so you can return colour to the screen with a few button presses, so you only need the self-discipline to turn it back off when you are finished taking to viewing photos. I have it setup like that on iPhone but not sure about android.

I mean like thank you soooo much for this Chanel and who you are as a person. The more you learn from Brilliant, and how to explain things in a way that a 12 year old can understand (I'll be 24 in less than a month) I have had an up and down life for a while and more often I use the lessons from your videos to not just be kinder to myself but to other people that I didn't realize wants the best for me and what I want to do for my life. I may be a random subscriber that will comment on your videos from time to time but I just want to appreciate the myriad of videos you've cultivated over the years and I don't think everything ive said can amount to the content you make I frequently watch some of the videos you made in the past to get a better idea and view point you where trying to make during the time you made the video and I can at least say your stance on life in which your curiosity has made it more easier to be blessed with how things are going for myself. Liam McGilchrist a psychiatrist and Oxford scholar gave some good advice for your yearly self evaluation whether it be New Years or birthday or such.
He said don’t look at the past year as a complete circle of time…He said look at the year as a spiral of time…Either your spiral is going up or your spiral is going down and then make adjustments the best you can to go up the spiral in those areas of your life where the spiral is projecting downward. 🌎☀️💙

2024 is good year
I don't find that screen time diminishes my life as many people claim it does. Why is this a popular narrative? I have read that the divide between people who suffer bad effects from online activity and those who do not is the line between those who scroll and those who post. If you are participating online, you are bound to be healthier and happier than if you merely just consume what you see.
This. I was a lot happier when I was posting a lot than when now I'm just consuming a lot. I need to change this.
Let's just get starting ,whatever the results it maybe ,no thought just started the actions. Whoever reading this , just wanted to say everything gonna be fine , listen to ur body and take care of both ur mental and physical health .

Aperture, I figure myself out if I try to set goals it is most likely I will never begin the goals in the first place I have no desires to set goals since I discover I never start them anyway so best skip goal setting altogether.

I have met a wonderful person last year she is a shining bicon of light ever time I think about her it makes my day better but if I think about losing her it crashes my soul she is the best thing to ever happen to me and I am not even dating her yet and I have plans to merry her in the future she would be a great mother and I could be a great dad so my kids don't have to go through what I have i honestly only live because of her i tried committing suicide on new year and it failed she stayed with me at the hospital all night so am just living for her so her and God will get me through this year
