Ace is without question my favorite guitar player. I realize he is nowhere near "the best", but his style of playing and his solos always just hits home for me.
Saw KISS in ‘75 (with Rush the opening act if you can believe it)… and it was an amazing show… they still weren’t big yet…. homemade costumes, homemade effects… but hungry.
that is the slingerland radio King snare that he used all the way up through rock and roll over then he went to that really the Deep pearl 14 x 8 aluminum and maple snare which you can hear on Kiss Alive 2 which has that distinct incredible sound kind of reminds me of a marching band snare
Love it! I hadn't seen that video before. Glad to hear the nice things about Peter Criss too. He's been given a lot of crap over the years and I never thought he deserved it. Some of my best times back in my teens was listening to those 4 guys when they were still young and hungry.
Peter Criss got most of his style from Gene Krupa. For those that doubt me go listen to his playing. I'm sure there's video's on here of Gene Krupa playing.
For anyone who thinks KISS was never heavy... LOL they obviously don't know what they're talking about. KISS Alive from start to finish that album is just 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Okay so you have seen Gene spit blood , my bad , ahahaha - this is also my fav KISS concert video - camera guy sucks sometimes , but he probly wasn't prepared on how to shoot them properly - coulda been the house guy cuz he didn't know the song(s) to match the individual performances, etc ... the Alive! 75 version in color is really goog tho - Gene's blood , Peter's solo , and Ace's solos are awesome ...
Peter was not a flashy soloing drummer, he’s no Neil Peart, BUT he had a unique style that complemented the songs he played on. There was no other hard rock drummer that had that swing style. He was a critical part of the best era of KISS music.
That's what made kiss so cool when I was a kid and I was part of the generation you know that started to grab on the kiss in the early eighties you know I was 5 years old in 1980 so you know I was listening to Dynasty unmasked thinking that Peter Criss was still in the band and you know I bought killers but my brother gave me all of his Kiss albums and I think 1980 he had had enough of them by then you know at that point the US had had enough of Kiss and they were big in other countries except the USA but anyway my brother gave me all the albums and he had every single one of them up through the solo albums even though I came into my own with kiss at 5 years old when unmasked came out I still barely listen to Dynasty or that album I was constantly listening to the stuff with Peter Criss
Gene claims when they opened for Black Sabbath Tony came side stage and had never seen them before. Gene gives glares at him in his scary demeanor and screams, “how’s it going Tony!!!” And Tony ran away terrified.
My best friend at the time came to me and said that his brother just got the new KISS live album and I had to hear this song. Being 9 I was like, ok cool. Imagine how that could have influenced you.
It is so good to see you appreciating Peter Criss' drum style, because there are so many outside who dislike or dissing him. He is for me a very good drummer, until his personal problems are getting bigger. Peter, you rock!
This is Kiss encapsulated into one video, the syncopated rhythms, the very cool lead guitar solo composed by Ace and big drum solo by Peter Criss, and the stage show. Written by Paul Stanley, credited to he and Simmons. This is the young hungry Kiss, the true original Kiss.
Hey man, been watching your stuff for a bit. I'm a lifelong KISS fan and have been enjoying your reactions to the material, you seem authentic in your comments. My suggestion to you for a drum cover is obscure but I think it will blow your socks off...fantastic performance by Eric Singer. "Hate" off of the Carnival of Souls album...Have fun!!!
Been to Winterland to see a lot of concerts back in the day , but when I saw kISS, they were playing the Cow Palace in San Francisco, which was the next venue up from Winterland and I believe was the following year from this concert Peter Criss would do some of the coolest showiest drum solos - that means good drumming with a lot of smoke a riser lights, and things exploding while he did it 😂
As well as the Live @ Cobo "Let Me Go, Rock And Roll"!!! There are two very different versions which have a lot to do with the mix but one of them is closest to Alive I've ever seen/heard. It's Pure Awesomeness!!!
What they created between early 74 to late 76, almost three years and they put out KISS, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed to Kill, ALIVE!, Destroyer and Rock And Roll Over...all classic albums on top level! Back then noone could stop them!
I've heard live versions of this for almost 50 years, and I never noticed how the drum dynamics you pointed out fit in with getting the crowd going and mirrored the guitar fills. Thank you!
Peter Criss was my first big influence. I remember learning that solo off Kiss Alive, 100,000 Years. I remember getting a cowbell so I could to that part he does. I still use that Peter Criss shuffle beat. I probably owe him money I've used it so much! Lol
Love this song on the Alive 1 album! Give it a spin too! The solo was always a blast to crank back when I was a kid in 75! Seen KISS over 60 times! Thx for the videos, enjoy them!
Regarding the drum sound - by this time Peter was a Pearl endorser and using their new fiberglass shells. (Same here) They’re very loud and very heavy! (Think of mass produced Blaemire’s) If you do a drum cover of Kiss - the quintessential one (phaser effect and all) is the “Alive” album version of 100,000 Years
@@chunlaou8632 they didn't do it as much in the 80's but they occasional put it in. During the Hot In The Shade tour they didn't do it in Sacramento (they did Let Me Go R&R) but at Mountain View they did 100k instead
The 5th/6th grade version of me spent a lot of time trying to , play this in the mid 70s . So if you are gonna do a drum cover, please do this! Let's goooooooooo!
Love seeing the smile on your face when you're watching these kiss videos man you missed out on some great times but it's nice to see you're catching up I'm a die hard kiss fan I got into them in 75 on the dress to kill album and tour and I've supported every member and lineup change through the years but those first three Kiss albums and kiss alive cannot be touched.
Ace was finger tapping long before Van Halen. Peter was amazing, they all were. Gene and Paul might of been the business but Ace and Peter were the heart. Can't imagine them going that far without a heart ... Sad that they couldn't have had respect for what it took all four to build.
Hey brother I just wanted to take the time to tell you that your genuine enthusiasm for music is the MAIN REASON that I subscribed to your channel. I actually look forward to you saying “LETS GO!!!”!!! Thank you so much for just being “YOU” good brother, much brotherly love ALWAYS!!!
We always look at this footage as fans and marvel at it but can you just imagine what it must've been like to create something like this, from the ground up, it really does blow my mind

This was straight fire!!! 🔥KISS bringing that heat once again! What's next?!
Nobody rattles the snare like the Catman Peter Criss
From 73 to 78 Kiss ruled 💯💯💯
Ace is without question my favorite guitar player. I realize he is nowhere near "the best", but his style of playing and his solos always just hits home for me.
Yeah, Ace was great at repeating a phrase but keeping it interesting and his bends are the best.
Right? Ace’s solos are always uniquely Ace. All of his instrumentals from all his solo albums are insanely good and well composed.
My favorite song from the original debut album
Saw KISS in ‘75 (with Rush the opening act if you can believe it)… and it was an amazing show… they still weren’t big yet…. homemade costumes, homemade effects… but hungry.
Kiss Alive drum solo on 100 000 years are even better ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
These winterland concerts back in this timeframe are great Kiss and Lynyrd Skynyrd are stand outs
that is the slingerland radio King snare that he used all the way up through rock and roll over then he went to that really the Deep pearl 14 x 8 aluminum and maple snare which you can hear on Kiss Alive 2 which has that distinct incredible sound kind of reminds me of a marching band snare
Oh cool! Thanks for the insight! Alot of people are buying up those vintage Slingerland kits these days! High dollar! 💵
The version of this song an ALIVE launched the careers of a generation of drummers.
Me included!
☮
Listen to Peter Criss’ drum solo on Kiss Alive, the best drum solo EVER!
Kiss alive 2 during God of thunder might be better
One of the band's most underrated songs, in my opinion.
Ace is easily one of the most over looked guitar Gods in music history. (KISSTORY)
Love it! I hadn't seen that video before. Glad to hear the nice things about Peter Criss too. He's been given a lot of crap over the years and I never thought he deserved it. Some of my best times back in my teens was listening to those 4 guys when they were still young and hungry.
Such a great band and I really enjoyed this one! Thanks for hanging!
Peter Criss got most of his style from Gene Krupa. For those that doubt me go listen to his playing. I'm sure there's video's on here of Gene Krupa playing.
Gene Krupa used to be Peter Criss' drum teacher. You can hear it in this song in his solo part.
I love this song. But I really love the drum solo. Always have sine 75 when I bought the Alive 2 album. 🤙
For anyone who thinks KISS was never heavy... LOL they obviously don't know what they're talking about. KISS Alive from start to finish that album is just 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I knew about five Kiss albums, even Alive 2, before getting Alive, that was really a shock on the first times listening.
I'm so glad this is on film.
Peter was not a flashy soloing drummer, he’s no Neil Peart, BUT he had a unique style that complemented the songs he played on. There was no other hard rock drummer that had that swing style. He was a critical part of the best era of KISS music.
💯 I agree completely! Thanks for the insight!
What drummer is Neil Peart? lol tbh i prefer peters solos. You can dance to them. Very musical.
@@Geraldo-ro9rc his are the solos I grew up on! Dum-pum-chucka!

No it was Ozzy !!
Carr Jam is a good one.
A top three Kiss song for me!
Such a banger! Thanks for watching!
Peter knew how to groove.
No doubt about it! 🔥
Love the sound of his Pearl Drum set especially the snare.
Definitely sounds great! ❤️
My best friend at the time came to me and said that his brother just got the new KISS live album and I had to hear this song. Being 9 I was like, ok cool. Imagine how that could have influenced you.
Peter Criss classic signature shuffle beat. He used it several songs.
100,000 YEARS🔥... Live version(s) ALWAYS SICK AF. Let's go🎉
It is so good to see you appreciating Peter Criss' drum style, because there are so many outside who dislike or dissing him. He is for me a very good drummer, until his personal problems are getting bigger. Peter, you rock!
Peter studied under his idol, Gene Krupa of all teachers!
It's like Ringo
Only appreciated by his bandmates
You know it bro.
My favorite drummer still doesn't like Peter Criss, but there is hope, he finally started liking old Judas Priest
And further more lmao. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate him. Honestly has never actually listened to his DRUMMING
Gene also played chords and had great walking bass lines!

Really appreciate the kind words and thanks for the suggestion! Definitely have to look into that one! 🥁
Peter Criss is a great jazz drummer in a rock band.🤘
Peter Criss Amazing
Ahhhh the 70 s loved every minute of it back then you had not lived until you had your eye brows signed at a KISS concert, still love ya Ace ❤️💋
In my top 5 of KISS songs!
My number One besides Deuce

For your own enjoyment go check this song live from Cobo Hall in Detroit in January of 76, great color footage.
As well as the Live @ Cobo "Let Me Go, Rock And Roll"!!! There are two very different versions which have a lot to do with the mix but one of them is closest to Alive I've ever seen/heard. It's Pure Awesomeness!!!
Peter was a beast in the early 70s.
What they created between early 74 to late 76, almost three years and they put out KISS, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed to Kill, ALIVE!, Destroyer and Rock And Roll Over...all classic albums on top level! Back then noone could stop them!
One of the best drum solos I have ever heard - Peter Criss!
Thanks for doing this. I enjoyed it WITH you!
Awesome! Thanks for hanging out!
100,000 years *
From KISS ALIVE! is just perfect!
Let me go rock and roll has always been my favorite live Kiss song
This was kiss at their best. The one I was floored by as a young teenager…
You should check them out on the songs, Nothin' to lose, Strutter & Firehouse all from the Alive album ! xx
I've heard live versions of this for almost 50 years, and I never noticed how the drum dynamics you pointed out fit in with getting the crowd going and mirrored the guitar fills. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
This was back when they all liked each other
This is a great Kiss song that most people don't talk about. Another song on their debut album worth checking out is "Let Me Know".
Quality stuff, Peter Criss is often considered the weak link by some, however for me he's an underrated drummer and singer
Yeah great playing and singing on Black Diamond, on the Midnight Special I think
Let's go!
Let’s gooooooo! 🔥
KISS were the epitome of 70's Rock. Trailblazers and groundbreakers. Masters of Merchandise
Live at Cobo hall is phenomenal. I would love and recommend a review please.
Peter criss is awesome
Peter Criss gave me my love for drums as a kid in the 70s
Nice to see some love for the old band!
30ft in the air , ah the good ol days
Rock n Roll
Peter has always had aspects of swing playing in his style.
Man, You have really gone down the KISS rabbit hole, LoL,... I'm lovin' it
Having a blast! So glad you are enjoying it! 🤘🏻
Peter Criss on the drums!
Let’s goooooo!
More early KISS! Yes!!
Ace is the man
THAT's the KISS that I fell in love with as a kid! Thank goodness those early videos survived.
I know right! So cool to have this older footage!
Peter Criss was my first big influence. I remember learning that solo off Kiss Alive, 100,000 Years. I remember getting a cowbell so I could to that part he does. I still use that Peter Criss shuffle beat. I probably owe him money I've used it so much! Lol

One of their all time classic songs. They kept this one on the playlist up until the end.

Peter Criss had a nice groove
I saw them two times in the late 70s that was the first concert that was so loud my ears were ringing for a couple of days.
Kiss at their BEST!!!!!! ONLY with the originals
EPIC!!! 🔥
An absolute gem from their first album!
Kiss cover to consider "Young & Wasted" from the album "Lick It Up.
For a Peter Criss cover, I'd suggest "Watchin' You" from Kiss "Alive".
Always love the footage from the 70s! Check out Rock Bottom by KISS!🤘🏻
Listen to " GOD OF THUNDER" off of "KISS ALIVE 2" Peter's solo is epic on that one as well.
The 5th/6th grade version of me spent a lot of time trying to , play this in the mid 70s . So if you are gonna do a drum cover, please do this! Let's goooooooooo!
Appreciate the suggestion!!! Definitely would be a fun one!
ace frehley shock me/ guitar solo houston 1977!!!
Love all the Kiss Alive stuff!!
Ace es verdaderamente de otro planeta!!
KISS are An entity !
I wore this side of alive out!!
The OG lead guitarist seen here is Ace Frehley.
Love this dude! 100,000 Years has always been my favorite KISS song since I was a little kid

Grade A kick ass rock n’ roll
B-side banger!
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE DRUMMERS...THE ONE AND ONLY PETER CRISS❤
Great song and reaction
We always look at this footage as fans and marvel at it but can you just imagine what it must've been like to create something like this, from the ground up, it really does blow my mind
Peter criss #1
Please check out Shock Me or War Machine, next.
100,000 years has one of Gene’s best bass lines.
