  • Boosting Home Security.
Cleaning up vegetation around your property is indeed a highly effective way to enhance home security. By maintaining clear sight lines, you can:
    1. **Eliminate Hiding Spots**: Overgrown bushes, trees, and shrubs can provide cover for potential intruders. By trimming these back, you reduce the number of places where someone can hide.
    2. **Improve Visibility**: Clear sight lines allow you and your neighbors to spot unusual activity more easily. This can deter criminals who prefer to operate unseen.
    3. **Enhance Surveillance Systems**: Security cameras and motion detectors are more effective when their fields of view aren't obstructed by vegetation.
    4. **Support Law Enforcement**: In the event of an incident, police and emergency responders will have an easier time navigating your property if it's clear of excessive foliage.
    5. **Fire Safety**: Reducing vegetation also decreases the risk of fire spreading to your home, which is particularly important in areas prone to wildfires.
For ongoing and future security, regular maintenance of your yard and surrounding areas is crucial. This includes:
    - Regularly trimming trees and shrubs.
    - Removing dead plants and debris.
    - Ensuring no plants obstruct windows or entry points.
    - Keeping pathways and driveways clear.
In a potential SHTF scenario, maintaining clear sight lines can provide strategic advantages by making it easier to detect and deter threats.

It’s so hard to share your beliefs to those who think nothings ever going to go wrong. Even family.

Keeping a cleared buffer zone around your house is also beneficial if you have an out of control wildfire, especially if the fire departments aren’t operating. That’s from my when there’s no fire department class I used to teach. 👍

I am a 3rd Dan Karate and 1st Dan Judo, not in one of my classes was I taught to run away, that's something I am teaching myself. I am thinking of doing what my grandfather did and carry a pocket knife. He used it to peel apples and pears, but in a pinch it can be used for circumstances. That machete is also a good idea.

For me security has been a difficult topic but the garden and back up food thing has went well 👍
It’s hard to be 100% prepped anyway. It’s not perfect but it’s improvement

I like it when the people who plan to just take stuff instead of being prepared talk about it. It lets you know who they are and the moment things go bad, they will be the first ones dealt with. Make the wolves an extinct species.

Great video brother. I think you have most of your bases covered. It's nice to live out in the woods. But like my place that gives the bad guys a lot more places to hide. Thank God we have only been broken into once in my life time. And it ended up being someone we knew. They killed my 2 dogs the week before they broke into our house. They also knew we weren't home.

Day after I arrive at home from week long work trip. Middle of night someone ring the door bell and before I got my shirt and pants on front door window smashed. I was kind of ready for that, no problem with one lonely and lost drunk search warm place to sleep (I help him to find it...JAIL), but later I just think what if it happened couple days before....? Wife and kids alone at home. Now couple years after that we have surveillance cameras, good "alarm" dog, motion activation outdoor lights and home alarm system.

Fencing, thorny bushes like roses or berry bushes. Lighting like security lightning, cameras and dogs are all handy. Notifying Law enforcement when you see suspicious people. When bad things are happening you might need to be more aggressive.

You want nothing sneaking up on your property, have donkeys, geese and Guineafowl. Literally, nothing is getting on your property without you knowing. Donkeys will even defend other animals. While Guineafowl are loud and can be annoying, an advantage they have is that you will not have ticks on your property.

👍🏻 Maybe you could keep the vegetation asis for privacy, and place a few cameras strategically for awareness.
And be ready to deploy some booby traps/alarms for when shtf.
