Great video! I just bought a new Toro and while storing it for the first time (Smartstow) I noticed the front wheels were extremely difficult to spin. Pulled them apart and there was no grease, only some type of blue material which I had to scrape off. The blue stuff looked like Locktite. It took me some time to remove. It was on the axle shaft and particularly on the axle threads. Like you suggested, I used Red/Tacky (I use that on everything) and put it back together and now it works great.
I wasn't sure if this was a good idea with all the dirt/dust the mower sees but your video sets my mind at ease. Thanks!

Hmmm. Some wheel axles I will lube, but only if the wheel has a steel bushing inside. Many do not, and solid plastic wheels should remain dry (be mindful of that). As far as the rear gear...remove it, clean it, and regrease it, and reassemble. The small pieces inside most gears of this type require grease, not a spray on oil.

And since you didn’t know about the whole wheel bearing even existing on those lawnmowers I would appreciate it if you kept your opinion to yourself as well as your insults.
But if you must know, It looks like a sealed bearing, meaning no re-packing. Is it a bearing that will last the life of the mower? Is there a way to grease it even though it looks sealed? Is it pressed into to wheel requiring a new wheel or is is a bolted on assembly that can be easily replaced?

On some older John Deere models there was a simple spring that was only about 1.5 inches long that pulled a small lever back on the transmission allowing you to back up. On the rear wheels I'm noticing that the left one (the side with the air filter and mulch/bag selector) does not spin nearly as freely as the right one does. @@GarageGear Sure thing! I think what I'm about to do is go to a nearby honda power equipment dealer and see how the rear wheels on one of their display models act. @@GarageGear Update 1: While the left rear wheel on their display model's behavior was similar to mine it did spin a bit more freely. Like yourself the person I spoke with suggested that it might be okay and just needs to break in, but also thought it could be a good idea to return the mower.
When the weather permits it will be time to take it out and see how it goes. I'd definitely advise on doing a decent inspection on the mower before using it for the first time. In mine so far I found that the spark plug was gapped smaller than the manual recommended (.021") and was on too tight. I found the over-tightening issue to be the same with the blades also.

@@GarageGear No problem! So far the mower has about 6 hours on it and been running great. The left rear wheel just needed some run time to loosen up a bit as it now spins much easier. I've changed the oil twice, and a spare set of blades are on standby for the change not too far ahead.
I keep the deck clean and can say that the mower mulches like a champ. I don't think that it bags as well as the GCV160 equipped HRR216. It does about average at that, but seems to make up for it in the mulching department where I think it is noticeably better.

Interesting video. Not sure I agree with lubing rear wheel gears. It's ok if you have a new mower but old ones may have broken plastic covers.

Hey Martin, if the company making the mower greasing then does it, it’s okay to do so. Replacement covers are fairly inexpensive if a new one is needed. Thanks for watching!

I removed all the grease from the gear teeth, it collects sand and causes quicker wear between the mower and wheel gear connection. No grease means the sand/dirt/grass doesn't stick as much, and can easily be blown/washed off. That crunching sound as you are moving is sand in your grease on your gears. Same effect as sand between your teeth, not good. Dust covers aren't dust proof. By all means, grease the wheel and gear axles, just consider not greasing the gear teeth.
