teaching how to call the adhan beautifully 🎤

had a wonderful time running an adhan (or as some say azaan) workshop at Muslim Neighbour Nexus in Mississauga (🇨🇦) this past Saturday.
Here I'm doing a little back and forth with a brother in the audience. He's not just listening and repeating back after me, but he's also being guided by the structure of maqam hijaz that I explained and have up on the board. That's our unique method so to speak - it's what I teach in our Overnight Qari program as well. To be honest it was a bit of a challenge to take what I normally teach over two months and condense it into 2 hours, but I think it went well 😊

Where I live the Azan is given by mostly old people who don't know Arabic much less voice attunement. Gives a bad impression on the community!

but who has the heart to tell the old uncles that they don't sound good 🤣 ... may Allah bless them, they're always there early waiting for the adhan time to come in
