yes, it is a very nice setup. my first "track saw" was home made. nothing at all like these new "tracks". it consisted of a scrap piece of ¼" hardboard 8" wide and a piece of scrap wood ¾" thick and 2" wide with 1 edge straight. attach the straight wood to the hardboard with screws. take your saw and run it down your track to set a precise distance from the blade to the edge of the saw. to use, place the cut edge on your marks, hold in place with a C-clamp at each end and cut away. inexpensive and right on the marks. time though to upgrade mine and add either 40 grit sandpaper or rubber strips to the bottom so i can store the clamps away. thanks for the idea on using rubber strips!
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Next to woodland ambiance, whales songs and bushcraft stuff this channel is simply relaxing me. No froth, no bloviating, no longueur. Always clean and safe workbench. Essential showing only. More power to your elbow! Grats!
Some videos have presenters who are masters at orally conveying their message. Some you can't stand to listen to their jibberish. Some have the perfect composition of the proper view, great lighting, steady camera; others don't. Your video was perfect in SO many ways. From an educator's perspective A+. I always challenge my grad students to do a silent presentation. It is hard. It requires planning and the ability to be the performer and viewer at the same time. You need to thank all the teachers who guided you to become a GREAT presenter! (in so many ways)
Fantastic job. I've been trying to think of a way of improving my timber saw guide with Aluminium. Your ideas are great. To stop dragging your saw power lead over the edge, throw it on your shoulder before you cut. Thanks for sharing.
it's hard to believe it doesnt ever move at all just with 2 pieces of hvac piping rubber.. but if it doesn't you are definitely the man! thanks for sharing!
By far one of the best diy saw tracks I've seen!(I've been researching to build my own, I think I'll copy yours 😉) I can tell your a perfectionist like myself, great video! Thanks!
ok finally a DIY track thats worth building,,, i won't lie , i will copy this and tell all my friends it was my design lol and 238 thumbs down , are you kidding me
The most elaborate shooter I've ever seen, you went to great lengths to make it run smooth. All you needed was a spritz or CRC heavy duty silicone. It's invisible, dries completely in 10 seconds, slick as can be. (don't get any overspray on the floor, or you'll slip)
@@1pcfred Yes, you don't spray it on your material, just a light spritz on your saw's sole plate. The pure stuff is not nasty, It's invisible and evaporates in 2-3 weeks and you have to re-apply. Back in the old days, wax with silicone was very nasty on wood, hard to get off. The pure stuff comes off wood if you set it in the sun a few hours or wipe with alcohol.
Looks like I have a project this weekend. The only thing I might change (just because of the materials on hand) is stainless and going to a carbon fiber infilled plastic that I have handy.
You have to be one of the most intelligent carpenter on youtube i just love every thing you put up i will definitely make one of those Thank you very much lots of Irish luck for the future and keep those videos coming
I made a circular saw crosscut jig. It worked, but the saw sole plate was not parallel to the blade. It was not immediately obvious, but getting that right made huge difference. I like your idea but would stick the runner to the stainless plate with a PU sealant. There will be plenty of time to get it parallel before it cures.

wow, many of the market famous manufacturers should envy you
😊😊😊
Really awesome track saw, that being said, the amount of time and materials used, could have had a decent knock-off track saw.
Wow, easily the best DIY track saw make, I've seen so far, great job.
SUPER
Excelente herramienta. La copiaré para mi sierra. Felicitaciones.
Excellent tool. I will copy that for my circular saw. Congrats
Thanks you)
I never seen so many Clamps in my life !

In English.
I agree on 100%
@@TeaKayful ya it's a curse at times lol, I want to make every detail perfect and it will keep me up at night if I can't 🤦♂️
@@TeaKayful LOL. He did not say in writing but just in his work.
Nicely done. A little more detail regarding materials and measurements will be a most welcomed addition
Awesome! VWDB = Very Well Done Bro

Silicone notoriously ruins wood finishes. So don't get any on any wood you plan on finishing.

@@Bob_Adkins any speck that rubs on can cause fisheyes. Not always important. Not everything requires a fine finish.
You are a master.....i’m gonna follow your idea.....
best shop made saw track I've seen

Brilliant Job! And very simple as well. Easily adapted with another plate for a router! Cool!

Excellent
*Cool* - I like the steel plate best, for easy detachment of the saw. Very versatile.
excelente congratulation !!!!!
