I'm watching this video for the second time so I could take notes of measurements. So far, this is the "track saw" I like the most! The other one has rails and linear rail bushings and the saw is suspended above the piece to be cut. I want to make it like a panel saw only smaller and portable if needed. It will be for cross-cutting. Thank you again for a great design and for sharing it with us, the viewers.
Another great idea! Thank you, my friend, for sharing your innovative ideas that save us money and time. Stay safe and please keep the ideas coming 🙏 ❤😊.
This is a nice easy to follow project. Thanks! I am one who is a stickler for safety and have seen way too many industrial accidents as a safety engineer. When using the mitre saw, let the saw blade come to a full stop after the cut in the down position. Then raise the blade to remove the cut piece. Even though the blade has a safety guard, I have seen blocks of wood flung across a room by a rotating saw blade despite the guard in place. This can pose a hazard to you or others in the vicinity of the saw. Be safe. Nice project!!!!
@@jimmatrix7244 😄 reminded me of a meme: “when a man says he will do something, he will do it. There is no point reminding him every six months”!! So, no, but the intent exists.
So i came up with an almost identical design on my own that i finished today and found this video looking for ways to clamp the track in place and wanted to point out something very important. DO NOT drill all the mounting holes in the saw base plate at the same time. Drill and tap the aluminum rail (i used three 1/4"-20 machine screws) using a #7 drill bit, THEN drill the first hole through the base plate. Install first machine screw, then mark the second hole, repeat, and repeat for the third screw. The reason for this is because most people will be using a hand drill and even though a center punch is used, standard twist drill bits almost always walk some when not used in a drill press. Split point bits walk less but can still be an issue. I have 4 holes for three mounting screws in my saw base plate since i didn't follow this advice.
Great track! But I wanna give your video editing a big thumbs up. A lot of people don't realize how much goes into it. The classical style of music with the simple elegant font and then cuts of the digital design....soo good. You just got a sub from me. Keep doing what you're doing.
Your keeping me busy doing all these jigs. lol Keep it up i love all you have done and have built many of what you have built. Thank you for sharing ( Stay Safe you & your family ) .
Excellent simple functional easy to follow tutorial and multi functional! Thanks for a great easy to follow video! I've subscribed to the channel straight away! Definitely going to make one of these in the next couple of weeks! Have a new palm router a full size router plunge router couple of jigsaws and a 3 circular saws so think I'm going to make one of these and perhaps the table saw you made for a circular saw and dedicate one of my circular saws to a table saw! Great work and video! Thanks from London England 👍😎🏴
Great video on multifunctional design and use of the tools and your made platform! Awesome versatility on the finished piece. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more videos on your experiences.
Impressive. I've used a straight edge screwed to a scrap blank. Then ran my saw against the straight edge and cut the scrap to match the edge of the saw blade. then whenever I line up the edge I get a straight cut right where I wanted it to. Without all the milling, gluing and waxing. Clamps could be placed on an outer edge away from the saw motor. Your video shows skill and ingenuity, but for a quick and dirty build - using a large enough piece of scrap and clamping it down to a work surface is much easier. The ONLY thing my rig can't do that yours can is to clamp to the table saw as a rip fence. But there are other solutions for clamping rip fences parallel to the blade or even on a severe angle to the blade. Cove cutting for instance. Yours can't cove cut.
Great video… remember, if you need it for thicker cuts that the thickness of this might interfere with the cut, there are 8 1/4 and 10 1/4 inch saws…. It will work just as well on those saws and maintain a deep enough cut. (Unless you get a great deal though it would be cheaper to stick with 7 1/4 inch saw and aluminum track).
I love your videos and your work. You are an Artist Engineer and I can't get enough of your videos I enjoy them so much. Where can I find the plans for this? I do not have face book or Instagram so this might be my problem. Thank you for your help. I am subscribed and bell notification. Thanks again.

You need either to resharpen your saw blade or to buy yourself a new one. The blade that you are using here is messing up the plywood. I recommend using a 60T or 80T, thin kerf blade for materials like MDF or plywood. Just don't rush it through the material when you cut. You'll be surprized! Keep up the good work!
Yes 100% right, coz so many cut aluminium my blade need resharpen again, this multi material blade. I have 60T blade but sometime i lazy change that😁. Thank you for reminder👍
At the beginning of the video, you cut a piece of MDF across the width of the board. It appeared that was the board you modified. At the end, the track was wider than the board. Did I miss a cut?
