For the past two years I kept blaming myself for my mood and anxiety , I tried eating healthier and becoming more active and nothing helped . It finally hit me that I needed to remove the nexplanon ! The smallest things make me so angry and depressed , I’m removing in two weeks so I cannot wait to feel myself again .
This is literally me right now. I’m getting mine removed tomorrow, a little nervous and I don’t know what other birth control to go on. I don’t want babies right now
I just got mine removed yesterday. The only positive of nexplanon was that I didn’t get pregnant. From the time I got it I’ve gotten random headaches, backaches, nausea, depression and my anxiety got so much worse. On top of that my periods were random and lasted between 3-6 weeks every time. I really hope I can feel normal again soon
Im the exact same way. Finally getting it taken out in a couple weeks! I've tried to deal with it for nearly a year now and so ready to be done with the constant bleeding. Lol
I agree, the pregnancy prevention does its job wonderfully. However, my Nexplanon has caused my periods to become horrible. Before birth control, my periods only lasted 3-5 days. Now they last 2-3 weeks usually. 😭 Thankfully I'm getting mine removed today.
I was on the implant for 10 years (since I was 15). Just had it removed today so watching this video to find out others experiences. Can’t wait to find out what my body is like without birth control properly for the first time at 24! 😊
I’m right there with you Cheyenne! On it since I was 15 and am now 26 . Got it taken out yesterday and I already feel a tiny difference in my mood. Very curious to see the difference. Best of luck!! I’m using phexxi for my new BC ♥️
Do you have an update on how it went? I got on nexplanon when I was 13 and I’m now 25 - my current nexplanon ends next month, and I’m really considering not getting one again! I want to learn my body not on birth control! I’ve been trying to find information, but not many people have been on it as long as me. 😖
i had mine taken out today after almost 2 years, and before I was on the pill for about 6 years so i am excited to get back to my natural hormones and self. I grew tired of the mood swings, depression, lack of sex drive and two periods a month. I have not felt like myself for a while and can’t wait to get back to me
I had every side effect from the nexplanon, stiffness, anxiety, weight gain, bloating, insomnia, indigestion, blank moments, joint pain, thinning of my skin and my bones creaking, i could hear my internal organs, even the sound of my spin creaking, i feel heat always and so uncomfortable, my cellulite became so bad, bumpy skin. I cried always as i never even thought it was the nexplanon . I Complained to my doctor, he sent me for a scan for my spin, colon testing, heart scan, blood test and all test came back okay. I still kept on complaining he sent me to mental health where i was prescribed an anti-depressants tablet. I didnt take it as i know i wasnt depressed. Everything irritated me and i got angry for no reason My blood pressure was up, cant explain what triggered it.. Finally after 3 years i took it out and like a miracle that night i slept like a baby( Insomnia dissapear), within a week i had loads of changes within me like gush of cool breeze, my head fog was clear, my bloating disappear, i couldn't hear the sound of my organs no more and no more pain in my body, it's a month now, i can do situps, i can dance without pains, my bloating is gone, my weight is gone down and am still working on it. My bood pressure from 154/102 all gone down to 120/88. I feel alive. Told my doctor and he said i should try another contraception. I told him i will think about it. That thing could have killed me. So glad i took it off.
UPDATE AFTER NEXPLANON:- got my potassium, collagen, magnesium, vitamin D 3, High strength calcium, Iron tablets to help my body recover. All high strength, juice and salad diet for 2 weeks. I will reduce the strength of these vitamins as my body feels. My blood pressure in now back to normal
im getting mine removed tmr! thanks for this. I also loved the little stab at the doctors just completely ignoring our side effects as if we didnt have a literal implant with hormones in us. I swear some doctors are just insufferable haha. will watch the rest of the vid rn!! just loved the beginning so much and had to comment.
I’ve gotten the Nexplanon seven months ago and it’s been a awful seven months constant headaches just recently have had this headache that lasted for two weeks on top of me being so angry and then sad then depressed I’ve experienced lack of sleep my period lasts so long and will come back two weeks later I am getting the Nexplanon removed today and I am so excited for this change I can’t deal with it anymore
Just got mine removed today. I had such horrible anxiety the first year I was so unstable and moody. Can’t wait to see how the weight gain and moodiness goes away
@@xochilavila2301 it doesn’t hurt at all. I was really scared to get it out before i got it removed but they numb you with a numbing shot and they do a little cut to get it out.
@@alexisgonzales4977 thank you this was helpful I been having it for 3 years already… So me an My boyfriend are ready do have a Baby I’m just thinking about it if it’s going to hurt
Thank you so much! I getting my finally removed. My hormones are out this roof and I’ve had so much anxiety which I’ve never had prior to this! Thanks so much baby girl 👧🏻 I’m happy I found you and made me decide. I don’t feel like myself
Thank you for these videos… gosh nexplanon sounds so great on paper.. but it’s literally too good to be true. I had mine for a little over 2 years. My biggest complaint was nauseousness (especially if I dared to go a few hours between meals 🥴) NO sex drive whatsoever, and massive WEIGHT GAIN (close to 60+ lbs) likely due to overeating because as I said I would get extremely nauseous if I didn’t eat constantly!! I’m getting mine out today and I feel like I should have made this decision a long time ago. But I’m so relieved.
I dealt with all of that too! 🙁 it really does sound so great on paper! If only it worked like the doctors said it did. I hope you get back to normal soon! 🤞🏼
Yes I’m nauseous all the time and I have had it for a year and 6 months. Been nauseous the whole time 🥴 my period also last for at least two months… Im ready to get mine out.
I just got mine removed today after having one nexplanon replacement over the past 5 years. Both times I had a horror story for the removal. First time my muscle latched around it and it broke in half during the removal so they were digging in my arm for 20+ minutes. I may add that they didn't put the lidocaine in the correct location so I felt everything. Today's removal my new OBGYN inserted lidocaine everywhere possible to avoid what happened with my old doctor. My muscle was latched around it again so they had to cut my muscle but it was only around 15 minutes and didn't feel a thing. I am so happy to have it out! I have PCOS as well and my OBGYN recommended the patch since it may help balance out my hormones from my PCOS. Watching your video gave me hope about going back to my old happy self (assuming the patch won't have as bad of side effects)!
Got mine removed today and already have a clearer head! Hopefully gone are the intrusive thoughts, anger, severe anxiety, and weight gain! Practitioner made it seem like it was an appalling idea that I wanted to get my birth control removed and I asked me what was I gonna without it? Not getting another one that’s for sure!!
I’m getting mine removed too I’m having lots of problems with weight gain but also losing weight also long painful periods 😭 thank you for sharing I thought it was only me going through this
I’m on my second nexplanon. First time I got it I was okay, however, this second one has been causing all kinds of hormone changes. I’ve started to get reoccurring uti’s as well! Getting mine removed next month and hoping to get some normalcy back!
Dude same, I’m getting mine removed this Friday, I’ve had it before for the full term (3-4 years) and it’s completely changed me when I got it re done 6 months ago, I Gained weight and got super bad cystic acne and I feel like my mood is different. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s going through this alone.
I had this exact experience!! I just got mine removed last month and I’m so happy when my body goes back to normal. I’ll probably never go back on bc because traumatized how much weight i gained while i had it. The mood swings and depression smh
My first 3 years on the implant was completely fine. My second go around it changed my mood and gave me chronic acne (I tried everything to clear it). I cannot stand the way this has made me feel, especially about my self confidence. I'm getting it removed soon and I can't wait to see how my body changes.
I have the same experience. First time around was great and now on the second I’ve had acne for a year (for the first time in my life). Has that aspect changed by removing it? Best wishes x
Same here! could not find anything on this first three years no menstruation felt great. second ride 3 yrs was irrgular cycle, ood swings burnout. also bcof life but ir felt weird. Now took it out, two weeks ago. horrible skin rashes and acne
I got it after having my baby and i had it for 4 months and it was horrible i was bleeding everyday and i was so sad and I took it off 2 days ago and i kid u not i knocked out for the whole day and the next day I felt like i could think properly and I felt so light and not bloated and i feel happier and more productive
Thank you so much for the videos! I had no idea how bad birth control can mess with mood and over all health. I never had depression or anxiety until having birth control. I took out my nexplanon today. And the doctor was so admin to taking it out. I was like no it need to be gone today!! I’m not waiting any longer. So we will see how my anxiety improves because it’s one of the worst feeling in the world!
Aww I’m so glad you had it removed! I hope you start feeling better soon. My anxiety skyrocketed after getting mine and stayed that way until about 4 months after getting it removed. 🥺 I still struggle with it, just not near as bad as before!
I just got mine removed today !! Got mine in January 2021 and I have been on my period sense !!!!! August 2021. 8 full months !!!! I'm so glad I got it out I can't wait to get back to normal 😊
Hiya, ive left so many comments here sorry! I just want to thank you so much. Without your story and this comments thread i would be still so anxious. I saw like 3 or 4 doctors in my struggles. Not even one of them mentioned hormonal imbalance or the fact that my moods MIGHT be caused by my birth control. Literally relying on other women who had the same thing happen to them to get me through. God bless you! Almost K'ed myself. Severe anxiety, low appetite, imsomnia, INTRUsIVE thoughts ... All reduced by 70% or completely disappeared since taking out the implant. Also im high functioning autistic so that might have added to the severety of everything.
Hi Sharon! I’m so glad this video and the thread has been helpful to you. Unfortunately, I know exactly what you mean about doctors not even acknowledging the fact that BC can cause a major hormonal imbalance. I’m currently pregnant but after this baby I will be seeing a holistic doctor to help with my hormones as traditional medicine doesn’t help at all. I’ll be praying that you find peace and your hormones settle completely because it is so unfair that we have to research so much when we have been trained to trust people with degrees who don’t help at all since they are taught to prescribe not to treat. 😓
@@RadianceRush thank you so much that’s so helpful! I’m getting mine removed next month and I have experienced so much hair loss from it, I’m hoping it will stop once I get it removed!!
Yes!.... long period, irritated by the smallest things, mood swings omg...I feel horrible... im getting mine out soon and it hasn't even been 3 months.
I just got mine removed! I’m reading all these comments and I never realized those are the side effects. I can’t wait to see if I notice a difference being off Nexplanon.
I have my period nonstop for 3 months now from the time I have it done. Thinking of removing other than bleeding gained weight I have no other side effects
@@marianalvarado5443 I had my period for 2.5 years after getting the implant. I got it taken out 6 months in, but the depression I went through with it was awful. At first my doctor recommended several different types of birth control and nothing ever worked. I went all natural for a year and nothing changed. I finally got health insurance good enough to go back to the doctor and demanded a blood test, in which case they found out I had insulin resistant PCOS. It is very common, and the implant didnt necessarily cause my bleeding, but it pushed my hormones over the edge and made my body "inflammed". I recommend getting checked for other things because PCOS is extremely common. I hope this helped 👍
I had mine removed a few days ago and I’m excited to let my body have a breather. Every symptom she mentioned, I had. But I’m definitely praying I gain weight. 🤞🏾Thanks for sharing your experience. ❤
Anyone else experience reoccurring one-sided ovary pain? I had some ultrasounds done and everything came back fine and normal. This didn’t start until about 8 months after I got my nexplanon inserted. Pretty sure my implant caused this. I just got mine removed a week ago and I’m hoping the pain goes away soon!
Omg YES!!! RANDOM THROBBING. Not like super painful. But it alarmed me. I got an ultrasound on it too! And they said everything was fine. And one male doctor said i probably pulled a muscle in crossfit. Pffttt. Im so happy i read this. Thank yall! Im not crazy!
I get it on both sides but the left is always worse and it’s always at night and keeps me up it’s so painful. I’m getting mine out in two weeks I couldn’t get in sooner because my work schedule ughhh.
I’ve had my nexplanon for 2 years now and I’m making an appointment to get it removed because of the extreme cramps and heavy periods. It wasn’t bad at first but lately it has been. I’ve also done the pill and it gives me really bad nausea .. and I got pregnant with the iud 😂 I’ve run out of birth control options.
i just got mine removed today i found that on the implant i was so depressed and i lost weight and it was hard to gain it back, my periods are a horror movie and sex life is non existent. Honestly im scared to see how my body reacts with out it
Hi! I would love to know how things have been for you since coming off the implant? I’m having mine removed next week and have had very similar issues to yours. I hope it’s done you good more than bad! 💗
I have had a total of 3 weeks this entire year without bleeding. Its been gettng heavier lately with clots (one of the reasons I got it in the first place). I have adenomyosis and suffer from heavy periods that forced me to receive blood transfusions and iron infusions for the previous 4-6 years. It sucks because these past 2 years I have not needed those things, but everything else has been terrible. I went from 186 to 220 in 2 years. I have managed to drop down to 212 after 3 months of diet and exercise and monitoring blood sugar with a CGM... I eat once a day and i have only lost that much, but one day I will be 117, 2 days later 209. I get mine taken out tomorrow and I look forward to being a normal weight again. My breasts have judt gotten so big and nothing fits (jackets, shirts, bras). Glad to hesr so many people had positive experiences when they take it out.
I’m not getting mine removed for another year, but I have all the horrible symptoms like I get bad anger, depression, weight gain and acne but I honestly love it, it’s so worth it to not have the stress! I’m so greatful that this brilliant invention exist, but gahdamn I’m so excited to get it out after watching this video!!!!!!!
I just got my nexplanon removed 2 days ago and I had the exact same symptoms along with body aches and feeling very tired to do anything. The mood swings were out of this world! I hated it
My nexplanon expired and i feel more emotional than ever... I swear its been unreasonable how emotional i get and ive never been this sad for the smallest things 😅 i really want to take this out asap
this exact thing happened to me. Do you have an update?? Did you get off of it and start any new birth control? I got off of it due to heavy/long periods. I start the pills and it did come back 30 days later, however, I'm on my 13th day of my period and its heavy still. Helppp
i’ve been on my period for 33 days now, im so depressed. i was 18 and 92 pounds when i got it, now i’m 20 and 125 pounds.. i get it out on the second, im so excited!
Y'all have any tips? My wifey has been on various BC types since she was really young and has been on nexplanon for the last 8 years. She is getting it removed and I want her to be as comfy as possible. Y'all got any suggestions?
I have an appointment today, hopefully the dr will remove. I've had it in for a year and through process of elimination have concluded Nexplanon the culprit behind the chaos. I've seen many doctors and specialists and not one considered the birth control but were quick to prescribe anti depressants. I really hope my gyno doesn't try to talk me out of removal or make me wait cause I'm done with this mess.
getting my Nexplanon removed tomorrow at the (almost) 3 year mark. i have gained 60lbs, my sex drive is so low it’s been a year since we’ve done anything, and my anxiety and depression have been absolutely horrible. for the entire 1st year i didn’t have a period, then at the 1 year mark i had a 45 day period. ever since then i have just continuously bled and bled. i typically bleed for about 25 days with a 2 week break. at the 1.5 year mark my doctor put me on estrogen pills (Estradiol 6.25mg) and that helped a lot-my uterine lining had become so thin from constantly bleeding for 6 months that she was actually concerned i may internally bleed to death. the estrogen helped reduce my bleeding from severe to medium but didn’t shorten the length of time. i took it for a year and a couple months ago (2.5yr mark) my insurance decided i don’t NEED these pills so they’re not covering them ($30 with insurance, $205 without for 30 day supply). so after going back to bleeding nonstop and approaching the 3 year mark, i’m ready to get this thing out of my arm. i’m very nervous about having it taken out. my anxiety over the last 2 years has made me terrified of so many things that didn’t use to scare me. thank you for sharing your experience, it gives me hope for how my future may change
January update: i had my Nexplanon removed in mid November at the 2 years 11 months mark. my implant was stuck deep in my arm and it did have to be dug out and i did have a dime sized hole in my arm that they didn’t stitch. it was pretty gross, not gonna lie. now i have a ball of scar tissue under my skin that is about the size of a large pea and a slightly larger big pink scar. it’s been slowly shrinking though. there may be some minor nerve damage though because that area of my arm will go numb or get sharp shooting pains sometimes if i put my arm or elbow down the wrong way. changes: within 5 days my sex drive returned. it’s insane. i didn’t have any menstrual bleeding until this week and it only lasted 4 days. i haven’t had a cycle that short in 2 years. it was painful cramping and heavy bleeding for the first 2 days and a heating pad and midol were my best friend, but other than that it was the easiest period i have had in what felt like a really long time. we are abstaining from sex for a while longer (once you’ve gone 15 months, what’s a few more? haha) and i am staying off birth control for a while to see if my hormones will regulate themselves for on their own. so far i am feeling much happier and my depression and anxiety is less as well.
Oh my gosh thank you for sharing your story. That sounds pretty traumatic! I’m so happy that you are feeling better already and I hope you will continue to do so! ❤️❤️
@@MamaTried thank you. i just wanted to update because when i made that first comment, i was scared and getting ready to get my implant out. i was nervous and your video and the comments from the other people here and on a few other videos i watched helped prepare me and give me hope for my future without Nexplanon. so thank you for liking the comment and bringing me back here to update, and thank you for providing a safe space to talk about it ❤️
All. The. Same. Symptoms! Inc. the 3 month period!! (Mine was 2) I am SO excited to get it taken out, I feel like I’ve forgotten who I even am without it!
I’ve had my Nexplanon for the full 3 years and getting mine removed tomorrow. I’m very happy because it’s made me become very depressed and irritable but damm I loved it because I don’t want babies lol
thank you for this video and shout out to the comments. i really feel the side effects were severly understated to physicians. There's no way months of bleeding is this common and the product still made it to the masses.
I’m getting mine removed next month…. I have been having period everyday and it is so annoying to keep wearing pads. Literally got a rash from it. Hoping IUD will be better
I got mine on 2 mar and I'm gonna remove it on 10 may. I cant stand having spotting everyday and breast pain since I put in. having anxiety n panic attack since which I normally don't. I really cant wait to get it out and be normal
@@MamaTried Yes, my breast no longer pain, no panic attack anymore. May I ask is it normal to have period right after the removal of nexplanon? I took out on the 10 May and my period came on the 13 May. The period i having now is not the same as what i have before i have nexplanon
me too i hate the spottings & bleedings nonstop almost every month and wear pads for a very longgg time urgh! good for u removing it so early, unlike me i got it on 25th nov 2019, cant wait to get rid of it and back to normal. ✌🏻
I got mine inserted August 2023 and I don’t have much negative symptoms. I do have low sex drive and weight gain. But this happened after I got the depo shot. But the nexoplanon has caused me to have bad arm pain ever since insertion. So I made an appointment today to get it removed. Sadly, I have migraines w/ aura so I have to be on progestin only forms. I think I’m going to do the progestin pill. I’ve tried so many forms and I’m tired of side effects.
I am on the progestin only pill now and on month two. After removal, my sex drive came back after being off it for a month. Migraines got worse. I’m at the same weight but a decreased normal appetite so I can tell weight loss is coming. During removal, they told me the first person inserted it incorrectly which is probably why I had arm pain. I still have the pain sometimes so I’m concerned it’s nerve damage but only time will tell. It isn’t as painful as it was when I had it though.
Been watching videos as after 13+ years im finally getting my implant removed tomorrow😮💨 I have no idea what im going to be like as I can’t remember me before the implant - excited for this new start without the side effects
I’m getting mine out in April to start trying for a baby! I’m thankful I have had a really good experience on Nexplanon. This is my third one, I hope that my body will regulate easily!
I’m going tomorrow to talk to the doctor about getting mine taken out. I have gained about 40-50 pounds with being on the nexplanon and also have had a period for months now (I wanna say like 4-5 months). I’m so nervous to get it taken out though just because I’m scared of the numbing shot because I remember it from getting it put in and it hurt so bad.
i had first period after 8 months insertion(4-feb-21) which lasted 1.5months. afterwhich my period came 6months and the last one came last july 2023 till i remove it on 18th jan 2024... drastic weight gain, migrane, low sex drive, terrible mod swing.
Honestly, I’m praying to God that he gives me some weight to gain. I’ve always been naturally full ever since puberty, and this birth control really made me look underweight in the span of 4 years on it, and I didn’t realize how much that implant changed me. I went from 120 lb (before birth control) down to 112, then back up to 122 (from working out and eating more), back down to 119 (I had surgery so I lost weight again). That implant was such a rollercoaster and I’m never going back on it. It’s too much trouble. I’d rather maintain my purity, it’s easier this way IMO.
@@omegareed3397 I was on my period for 2 months the day I got it removed. My period went off 3 days after the removal process. Now that I'm not on Nexplanon anymore, my period only last 5 days.

My question is what are the side effects after you get it removed?
I had my nexplanon for 2 years, I went from 135 to 185 my face broke out badly. I was also depressed/angry every second of the day, my period would last 3-4 moths ( horrible periods) I was always hungry there was no such thing as being full which had made me so depressed. I removed it today around 8AM, I ate around 11am took a 6 hour “nap” and woke up feeling soooo good! It’s 11PM now I haven’t felt hungry at all! I can’t wait to get back to my self 😊🫶🫶

I know this sounds weird but can you still feel it even after getting it removed? I literally watched them take mine out and it has been two weeks but It still feels like it’s there when I poke around the scar. 😳
Like many others have already said, thank you so much for providing a safe space to share stories, concerns, effects that are ''normal'' (emphasis on the ") It is so helpful, validating and comforting to know others are fighting the same battles. Thanks again!
Im here after getting my nexplanon put in yesterday 😂😂😂 Im hoping it works and hoping I dont have anything crazy, but if I do Ill get it removed right away. The thing that stuck out to me in your videos is how your doctor DID NOT listen to you and your concerns, and that made me so sad for you. I hope you get a new provider!
@@MamaTried Glad to hear it! I got mine done at Planned Parenthood and they told me very honestly all the possible side effects and, said if I needed to take it out all Id have to do is call no big deal. It sounds like your OB was not understanding at all to your needs, a lot of doctors are like that. They dont listen to their patients and its terrible
Every time I have a period which isn't every month it's so random, they last for an entire month im so sick of it I just wanna cry. Also I have migraines every day other then that it's a good birth control. I just can't do the bleeding for so long 😪
My 4th round of nexplanon is coming up in a few weeks. I’m unsure if I want to remove it or not. I’m not sexually active with men right now & in a committed relationship with a female. I am just scared to take it out because I’ve had it since I was 14/15 & will be 25 next month. All I know is this drug in my arm. My skin is extremely clear and I’m scared I will suffer with acne if removed. The nexplanon did not stop my periods, my periods are very irregular & moderate to moderately heavy, and my cramps are awful. However, It has kept me very safe when sexually active and I have never been pregnant or had a pregnancy scare in my life.
I just got mine out yesterday and I’m not completely better yet but I bleed for 12 months and was told the same thing, like why are you a gynecologist if you don’t want to help women ? I don’t get it I really how I can feel happier soon too
my first implant was amazing no side effects at all but when I went to take it out and replace it i started gaining weight. started at 100 lbs and am now 121lbs Im incredibly short so it shows:/ unsure if I should take it out or not.. i dont want a period at all
I gained 45 pounds, I started Eating unhealthy and Drinking. But I know The explanon has a lot to do with my Weight. Cause No matter how hard I workout and How Healthy I eat Is Almost Imposible for me to Lose weight. I'm gonna Get mine Removed in a few Days. I Hope I can Feel Better and Lose all Those Pounds that is making so Insecure and Sad
@@yurimartinez4581 I dont know if its the same with you but I felt hungry all the time! Now that I’ve gotten it out its been about 2-4 weeks since I have and now my hunger levels have gone back to pre-nexplanon implant. :)
@Mama Tried I've hand the Nexplanon a total of 3 times for a total of 6 years. I got pregnant on the Nexplanon my second time on it. Then I noticed some issues with the third time. I'm glad I got it taken out a month ago due to trying for baby #5 . I'll probably go another route with birthcontrol next time.
I had mine for about 2.5 years and just got it removed almost 2 weeks ago now. I have had issues with nonstop periods, mood swings, and I am now within the last 6 months experiencing the WORST cystic acne of my life. Did you have any issues with acne while on it if so how long did it take for yours to clear itself up or you to start to see relief?
Oh girl, the cystic acne is REAL. I did have a major issue with it when I had it and I'm still having issues.. It's not as severe now but I have a lot of acne discoloration and scarring from it. I eventually want to have a chemical peel treatment done to help with it.
Wow. I am getting mine removed in 2 hours and I am crying reading these comments bc of all the gaslighting I did to myself about all the symptoms I was having. Being able to correlate all the cystic acne, low libido, the foggy crazy brain feeling & so much more to one common factor.. is just so relieving and yet so daunting.. as this is my 7th year using nexplanon it’s sad to think about what we do to ourselves so unknowingly..
Please, how long till your moods subsided? I noticed a big difference since taking out my impant 4 days ago but I'm still having physical anxiety symptoms ( a lot less severe than before).
Anyone ever experienced boob pain while on the nexplanon? I have been using it going on 6 years now and I wonder if that is what's causing this pain. I go only about a week after I get my period and the pain is constant until my next period. The first few years I did not experience this at all but as I mentioned here lately it's just all the time. Only after my period does the pain go away. For 1 week.
Yes I was on it 6 years just got mine out 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling pain in boobs but not as bad. I think as time goes by it'll fully diminish.
thank you for the video!! I'm getting mine removed in tbe next few weeks and i had similar side effects to you :( i want to go on the pill now but not sure if there are any that don't have the same side effects as the implant did (weight gane, acne, no sex drive)?
I got mine removed in june 30 2021 , and i havent had a whole “normal “ period , i have spotting here and there , and i have cramps everyday , i even thought i was 🤰🏿 , but no maybe just symptoms of coming off the hormones
I got mine last august 2022 cause ive had server stomach pains on it and my period has been messed up on it and i constantly feel like im irratated all the time and more of the side effects ive been feeling so i told my boyfriend i cant stay on it cause my pains got so bad i scared out kids cause they thought something was wrong with me and started crying im like mommy is okay just bad pains . Last month in june i was 10 days late for my period plus weight gain and it wasnt like that before . Im getting it out today july 11th 2023 and i cant wait for my body goes back to being normal
I got mine last month and i’m so confused whether I should keep it for at least an year or remove it already as i’m so scared of not being able to conceive in the future as I’ve PCOS too.. and read so many negative reviews on it. 😩
If you aren’t having any issues I would keep it for a year, that’s what I did. If you start experiencing any negative side effects I would talk to your doctor
@@MamaTried yes, thats what I’m planning too, i’m not keeping it more than an year even if i get no side effects because I don’t want to mess up with my hormones crazy amount. Thanks for the video you posted it really helped ♥️♥️♥️
when i got my birth control i was 140 lbs and im now 1 yr on it and at 185 :( i run alot and im wondering is there i chance i lose that gained weight??
I’ll be getting mine removed next week after being on it for 3 years. So if anyone who sees this comment in the future is considering it, ask away and I can update you on my experience! I’ve been on contraception overall for about 6 years so I’ll be interested to see how different I feel. My periods have been all over the place, sometimes I would have 2 days off and be on again, other times I’d have a whole month off. Coming towards the end of my implant, my mental health has probably been the worst I’ve experienced. I can only hope coming off contraception will benefit me, mainly emotionally as that has been most difficult.
I hope you see this comment, I am planning on getting my nexplanon out after being on it for six years. I am excited/scared of finally feeling normal again lol. How has your experience been so far?
@@vanessabarber5949 hello :) I absolutely recommend. The actual process of the removal was super easy as you don’t feel anything, it heals within a week or so and leaves a small scar. Since then, I feel a lot more in control of my emotions - not that I was an overly emotional person, but I just feel a lot happier and more myself. In terms of periods, they used to be all over the place. I had my nexplanon removed September 15th and have had 2 periods in the correct amount of time. In all honestly, I wasn’t expecting my body to adjust so quickly especially being on different contraceptions for 6 years. A couple of my friends said it took a few months for their period to readjust so I wouldn’t worry too much if that’s the case. I hope that covers everything but if you want to know anything else just ask! But yes! Feels so much better to have my body’s natural hormones!
Where your emotions ever not controlled by you? Or you just cry because out of nowhere your sad? We’re your emotions all over the place while having it?
I removed my on September 15 and I got my period on the 17. We want to start a family but I’m not sure if I’m going to ovulate. I’m so nervous. Will I get a chance to get pregnant?
If you got your implant removed you definitely have a high chance of getting pregnant. However, everyone is different! I had mine removed and didn’t get pregnant for over a year.
I used to know some people that it worked really well for, recently since talking to them, they have all told me that they would not get it again due to the negative side effects they experienced. I wouldn't get it taken out unless you are experiencing negative side effects as well! ❤️
my period lasted 5 months....I also have pcos..I'm also looking for birth control that won't effect my mental health....ironically birth control pills are supposed to help with PCOS n post partum...but I have experience like you
I’m TTC right now but I’ve decided once I need birth control again I’m going to do natural family cycles. It seems very accurate and doesn’t affect our bodies! Good luck girl! ❤️
this exact thing happened to me. Do you have an update?? Did you get off of it and start any new birth control? I got off of it due to heavy/long periods. I start the pills and it did come back 30 days later, however, I'm on my 13th day of my period and its heavy still. Helppp
Hi maam I'm from philippines .i have question my nexplanon i removed . last month why until now .my period is not come and my boobs getting big ...please reply cuz im getting wirriod

I don’t want babies right now
y'all have any updates? how was it the first month? any negatives any withdrawals or something?
I just got mine removed yesterday. The only positive of nexplanon was that I didn’t get pregnant. From the time I got it I’ve gotten random headaches, backaches, nausea, depression and my anxiety got so much worse. On top of that my periods were random and lasted between 3-6 weeks every time. I really hope I can feel normal again soon
Im the exact same way. Finally getting it taken out in a couple weeks! I've tried to deal with it for nearly a year now and so ready to be done with the constant bleeding. Lol
Yes same thing that happened to me I didn’t like it just got it removed today so hopefully I feel a lot better
How do you feel now?
I agree, the pregnancy prevention does its job wonderfully. However, my Nexplanon has caused my periods to become horrible. Before birth control, my periods only lasted 3-5 days. Now they last 2-3 weeks usually. 😭 Thankfully I'm getting mine removed today.
Wow same here I’m getting it removed next year on January 🎉
I was on the implant for 10 years (since I was 15). Just had it removed today so watching this video to find out others experiences. Can’t wait to find out what my body is like without birth control properly for the first time at 24! 😊
You got this girl! Good luck 🤞🏼 🤍
I’m right there with you Cheyenne! On it since I was 15 and am now 26 . Got it taken out yesterday and I already feel a tiny difference in my mood. Very curious to see the difference. Best of luck!! I’m using phexxi for my new BC ♥️
Been on mine for 6 years getting it out tomorrow!!!
Do you have an update on how it went?
I got on nexplanon when I was 13 and I’m now 25 - my current nexplanon ends next month, and I’m really considering not getting one again! I want to learn my body not on birth control! I’ve been trying to find information, but not many people have been on it as long as me. 😖
Omg this is me right now! Hoping to loose weight too lol
i had mine taken out today after almost 2 years, and before I was on the pill for about 6 years so i am excited to get back to my natural hormones and self.
My blood pressure in now back to normal
omg, i thought i was the only 1 experiencing all of these 😓 cant wait to take this thing off!!!
I mean it's been out for **
im getting mine removed tmr! thanks for this.
Hey hun , when did your bleeding stop after removal?
Had my implant taken out earlier this week and the next day, my mind felt less “foggy” if that makes sense lol. Everything just seemed to be clearer.
I felt the same way!

Just got mine removed today. I had such horrible anxiety the first year I was so unstable and moody. Can’t wait to see how the weight gain and moodiness goes away

I hope you get to feeling better soon! ❤️❤️

How is life after removal?
Me too! The formulation or something must have changed because my first one was fine but my second one was a NIGHTMARE

Did you bleed any after taking it out? And if so how long?
Do you think hair loss is one the side effects?
Yup, that death level anxiety is unbearable.
By the grace of God alone I serviced these 3 months of almost non stop anxiety.

@@MamaTried I pray for a blessed delivery in Jesus name for you and baby. Thank you again.

I so feel your pain. Things are slowly but surely getting easier for me now that I don't have the implant anymore. I hope the same happens for you! ❤️

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with all of that! I hope that is the cause so you can start feeling better soon!
getting my Nexplanon removed tomorrow at the (almost) 3 year mark. i have gained 60lbs, my sex drive is so low it’s been a year since we’ve done anything, and my anxiety and depression have been absolutely horrible. for the entire 1st year i didn’t have a period, then at the 1 year mark i had a 45 day period. ever since then i have just continuously bled and bled. i typically bleed for about 25 days with a 2 week break. at the 1.5 year mark my doctor put me on estrogen pills (Estradiol 6.25mg) and that helped a lot-my uterine lining had become so thin from constantly bleeding for 6 months that she was actually concerned i may internally bleed to death. the estrogen helped reduce my bleeding from severe to medium but didn’t shorten the length of time. i took it for a year and a couple months ago (2.5yr mark) my insurance decided i don’t NEED these pills so they’re not covering them ($30 with insurance, $205 without for 30 day supply). so after going back to bleeding nonstop and approaching the 3 year mark, i’m ready to get this thing out of my arm. i’m very nervous about having it taken out. my anxiety over the last 2 years has made me terrified of so many things that didn’t use to scare me. thank you for sharing your experience, it gives me hope for how my future may change
January update: i had my Nexplanon removed in mid November at the 2 years 11 months mark. my implant was stuck deep in my arm and it did have to be dug out and i did have a dime sized hole in my arm that they didn’t stitch. it was pretty gross, not gonna lie. now i have a ball of scar tissue under my skin that is about the size of a large pea and a slightly larger big pink scar. it’s been slowly shrinking though. there may be some minor nerve damage though because that area of my arm will go numb or get sharp shooting pains sometimes if i put my arm or elbow down the wrong way.
changes:
within 5 days my sex drive returned. it’s insane. i didn’t have any menstrual bleeding until this week and it only lasted 4 days. i haven’t had a cycle that short in 2 years. it was painful cramping and heavy bleeding for the first 2 days and a heating pad and midol were my best friend, but other than that it was the easiest period i have had in what felt like a really long time. we are abstaining from sex for a while longer (once you’ve gone 15 months, what’s a few more? haha) and i am staying off birth control for a while to see if my hormones will regulate themselves for on their own. so far i am feeling much happier and my depression and anxiety is less as well.
Oh my gosh thank you for sharing your story. That sounds pretty traumatic! I’m so happy that you are feeling better already and I hope you will continue to do so! ❤️❤️

I've just come to the conclusion that no one in healthcare cares, as long as they're getting a check from Nexplanon.
I’m getting mine removed next month…. I have been having period everyday and it is so annoying to keep wearing pads. Literally got a rash from it. Hoping IUD will be better
You are such a delightful person 💕 Thanks for the update 😊
Aww thank you!!
I got mine on 2 mar and I'm gonna remove it on 10 may. I cant stand having spotting everyday and breast pain since I put in. having anxiety n panic attack since which I normally don't.
I really cant wait to get it out and be normal
I hope you get back to normal soon!! 🤞🏼❤️
@@MamaTried Yes, my breast no longer pain, no panic attack anymore.
May I ask is it normal to have period right after the removal of nexplanon?
I took out on the 10 May and my period came on the 13 May. The period i having now is not the same as what i have before i have nexplanon
I think that’s pretty normal! It throws your cycle off once there is a shift in hormones
me too i hate the spottings & bleedings nonstop almost every month and wear pads for a very longgg time urgh! good for u removing it so early, unlike me i got it on 25th nov 2019, cant wait to get rid of it and back to normal.
Aww congratulations! I’m so happy to hear a good nexplanon story! 🥰
Am getting mine removed tomorrow, I was waiting that anger apart am a different total person now hopefully I go back to myself.
I hope you do too ❤️ feel better soon!!
Did you bleed after getting it removed? If so how long?
Honestly, I’m praying to God that he gives me some weight to gain. I’ve always been naturally full ever since puberty, and this birth control really made me look underweight in the span of 4 years on it, and I didn’t realize how much that implant changed me. I went from 120 lb (before birth control) down to 112, then back up to 122 (from working out and eating more), back down to 119 (I had surgery so I lost weight again). That implant was such a rollercoaster and I’m never going back on it. It’s too much trouble. I’d rather maintain my purity, it’s easier this way IMO.
Love ur username! Jesus saved me too and I’m getting mine removed soon
That was me...today my new none BirthControl journey starts
wishing you all the best, no birth control for me since I had it removed and I am THRIVING 🥰
Did you start bleeding right away?
I just had my nexplanon removed yesterday. I wanted to give my body a break from hormones and I hate having a 2 month period 😒.
Girl I HEARD that... that 3 month long period was awful! I hope you get back to normal soon ❤️
Once removed were you immediately on your period??
@@omegareed3397 I was on my period for 2 months the day I got it removed. My period went off 3 days after the removal process. Now that I'm not on Nexplanon anymore, my period only last 5 days.
@@britshanesmom this exact thing happened to me. Do you have an update?? Did you get off of it and start any new birth control? I got off of it due to heavy/long periods. I start the pills and it did come back 30 days later, however, I'm on my 13th day of my period and its heavy still. Helppp
@@SophiBalerdi I'm currently not on birth control at the moment. I was considering the pill BUT I'm really enjoying only having a period that lasts 4 days. I tried getting the IUD years ago, but the insertion process was so painful and uncomfortable 😫
Gurl ive been on my period every day for 4 months im taking it out myself now my doctor doesnt want me to get it removed she said she will stop prescribing me my daily important medication so i will remove it myself
I’ve been on the implant for over a year I’ve went from 65kg for 97kg I’ve been eating nice and still working out it’s just been so painful I’ve been on my period for 5 months bad headaches constantly bloating weird discharge really bad mood swings feeling sick dizzy and irregular period sometimes 3 weeks then a few days off then for a month straight losing all motivation I feel so down I’m planning on getting it removed I can’t live like this anymore!
I’m so happy for you!!! I hope you start feeling great asap ♥️🥹
i wanna get mine removed i’m so unhappy with my side effects but i’m terrified of getting pregnant if i remove it 😔
Same, I’m actually back on a pill now and I’m not sure about that either 😩 I’m much better off now than I was with the implant though!
When you got it removed , how long did it take you for you to stop bleeding ?
it only took me a few days after
About 2 weeks for me
I highly recommend the ParaGuard copper IUD. Non-hormonal birth control almost as effective as abstinence.
Thank you so much I just removed mine 3 days ago low sex drive af and I was never that way and also depression so great info thumbs up
Omg I just tried a birth control pill 4 months post Maddy and only got 6 days in before I had to stop taking it... I got terrible nightmares!! Then started my period 10 days early 😂🤦🏽♀️🤣 the struggle is REAL!
Loooove the picture I got one for our wedding day definitely my fav!
No kidding the struggle is real 😅
Girl I am so excited to get my nexplanon out. Mine gets out Nov 29th this year. I have everything except the period
I was counting down the dayyyys! I hope you start feeling better soon! ❤️
I got mine three months ago and got that shit out of my arm I refuse to take my emotions out on others who do not deserve that kind of treatment.
Good for you for realizing that it was the implant!!! ❤️ how are you feeling now?
wow that was quick salute u
I hope I also loose weight when get mine removed on the 14 th May.I had mine for 12 years.now 34 years.all the same symptoms.😮1 good thing I didn’t fall pregnant.copper iud is non hormonal.it’s worth the try I’m going to try that.
I know this sounds weird but can you still feel it even after getting it removed? I literally watched them take mine out and it has been two weeks but It still feels like it’s there when I poke around the scar. 😳
Yes I can still feel mine. 😩
Probably scar tissue
what? omg
Omg I’m glad I’m not the only one!!?
Like many others have already said, thank you so much for providing a safe space to share stories, concerns, effects that are ''normal'' (emphasis on the ") It is so helpful, validating and comforting to know others are fighting the same battles. Thanks again!
Im here after getting my nexplanon put in yesterday 😂😂😂 Im hoping it works and hoping I dont have anything crazy, but if I do Ill get it removed right away. The thing that stuck out to me in your videos is how your doctor DID NOT listen to you and your concerns, and that made me so sad for you. I hope you get a new provider!
I hope it works for you! ❤️
Ugh yes, I’m still on the hunt for a new OB 😤
@@MamaTried Glad to hear it! I got mine done at Planned Parenthood and they told me very honestly all the possible side effects and, said if I needed to take it out all Id have to do is call no big deal. It sounds like your OB was not understanding at all to your needs, a lot of doctors are like that. They dont listen to their patients and its terrible
Every time I have a period which isn't every month it's so random, they last for an entire month im so sick of it I just wanna cry. Also I have migraines every day other then that it's a good birth control. I just can't do the bleeding for so long 😪
I had chronic migraines and I got a daith piercing about 5-6 years ago and I rarely even have a headaches now!
You can use a diaphragm or cervical cap. Its hormone free.
I got mine done last month since then I have been on my period just can't take it again am so tired going to remove it tomorrow
They always say the weight have nothing to do with the nexplanon
Always 🙄
I just got mine out yesterday and I’m not completely better yet but I bleed for 12 months and was told the same thing, like why are you a gynecologist if you don’t want to help women ? I don’t get it I really how I can feel happier soon too
Hope*
The healthcare system is so messed up! I hope you start feeling so much better soon!
my first implant was amazing no side effects at all but when I went to take it out and replace it i started gaining weight. started at 100 lbs and am now 121lbs Im incredibly short so it shows:/ unsure if I should take it out or not.. i dont want a period at all
Sorry this is a late response! I would do whatever your gut is telling you to do! Only YOU know what's best for your body ❤️
I didn't know the low sex drive and weight gain issues had to do with Nexplanon. Explains a lot .
There were sooo many negative side effects 😩
@Mama Tried I've hand the Nexplanon a total of 3 times for a total of 6 years. I got pregnant on the Nexplanon my second time on it. Then I noticed some issues with the third time. I'm glad I got it taken out a month ago due to trying for baby #5 . I'll probably go another route with birthcontrol next time.
@@veronicamunos3542 I hope you have much better luck with whichever route you go! ❤
Anyone suffer with excessive water retention on this inplant ? I do so bad I gain like a stone over night
yep. my face used to be not bloated. now i have bad skin and pimples, my eyes is always puffy and at times i feel like passing out for no reason.
Also, Its been over a year now but I think it started getting a little better about 6 months after the removal.
A year later but yes, never had breast pain with hormones unless I was pregnant: with nexplanon it was a common occurrence for 2 weeks of the cycle.
I think you should have done separate video about the wall art
...ok so how long after removal did the bleeding stop. im sick of this shit
thank you for the video!! I'm getting mine removed in tbe next few weeks and i had similar side effects to you :( i want to go on the pill now but not sure if there are any that don't have the same side effects as the implant did (weight gane, acne, no sex drive)?
I got my nexplanon removed in December and still haven’t started my period 🙁
Hopefully it's coming soon! 🤞
I had mine removed in February and haven’t either, I was looking around to see if that is normal after nexplanon removed. Hopefully it will come soon.
Of course! ❤️
Do you still have yours in?
when i got my birth control i was 140 lbs and im now 1 yr on it and at 185 :( i run alot and im wondering is there i chance i lose that gained weight??
Getting mine removed was painful
How long would you say it took for you to feel better mentally after getting the implant out
I started noticing a difference the first week after! It only got better from there with time.
@@MamaTried yay thank you so much!!
Did it cause break out ? I never dealt witch acne before and I’m scared if I get mines out after 4 years, I’ll break out
I removed my on September 15 and I got my period on the 17.
I GOT MINE OCT 27th 2020??? I feel like this is a sign to get it out
I used to know some people that it worked really well for, recently since talking to them, they have all told me that they would not get it again due to the negative side effects they experienced.
