I had nexplanon for 12 years in total before deciding to try for a baby. I had about 4 months to start of really heavy almost contuous bleeding. And then nothing. No period for 12 years. Heaven. When I had it removed to try for a baby, I got pregnant within 2 months. I can't recommend the implant enough. It's so liberating to just forget about the risk of pregnancy and have fun.
I got nexplanon 1 month ago and am really happy that I did. I have had a regular period (6 days for me) but lighter than I used to have. I had my don on 2018 . I gained so much 😢. The first year it wasn’t so bad just spotting . But then i was on my month like 2 times a week and very heavy. But this week I’m going to have it removed.
Hi! I have a question!! Please answer if you can! The first time I had the nexoplanon, it was AMAZING. No periods, and I just felt SO safe. But when it expired and I got the second nexoplanon inserted, the second one was HORRIBLE. I had a period for a year straight, tried the pills, and still wouldn’t stop bleeding. I finally just took it out and switched to pills, which also sucked, so now im just using condoms. I wonder why the first nexoplanon was amazing, but why was the second one horrible??
I currently have nexplanon! My doctor recommended taking the pill with it as well because I originally experienced random bleeding. Nothing heavy but it was irregular. I haven’t had any weird issues taking both but I wanted to see if this causes any weird issues like decreased effectiveness? I’m just scared taking both but the pill has really been helping with the irregular bleeding.
I have questions about Nexplanon: I’ve had it for years then got off for a year or two. I’ve gotten back on it. This most recent time I’ve been bleeding for months. I told my gynecologist about it and she told me it was normal. (You said this also) She ran scans on me (in August) and told me I hardly had uterine lining and should stop. I haven’t. I’ve started having bad abnormal pain and feel woozy a lot. I don’t know what to tell her at my next appointment. I didn’t have any of this my first time and I’m honestly scared and uncomfortable at this point.
You should definitely tell her what's happening. I would suggest you take her advice and stop using if if that's what she recommended. You could end up getting yourself into more issues then you bargained for.
This will be my 4th time getting my implant. I've been on for almost 12 years. I'm concerned about the space left on my arm. How far uo can the implant be placed? Can it be inserted in a spot it's been in previously? I hope I make sense
On my 3rd year I had a period for 6 months straight…!!! Yes it’s keeping a baby away but it also makes me bleed so often that it also keep sex away… I just deal with it bc I don’t want more kids BUT I’ve literally cried so many days bc of this birth control 😩
I am really considering switching from the pill to this, but am worried about the weight gain. Can I expect a similar amount of weight gain from the pill and nexplanon?
i have a question, if nexplanon prevents ovulation how are periods possible? i’m having periods similar to normal and scared i’m ovulating is this possible?
It's not a true period bleed - think of it as bleeding because of unstable uterine lining and not from the withdrawal of our own normal hormone fluctuations. Hope that helps!
@@DrJenniferLincoln would the bleeding still cause horrible pains associated with endometriosis? That's the main reason I use progesterone only birth control. I used depo for 4 years and zero periods

I had my implant inserted after a week of conceiving, and it still in my arm for six years since now.And i am curious because i have had unsafe sex lately?
I loved everything I heard about nexplanon before getting one inserted. 6 months in I have decided that the cons outweigh the pros- my period is gone (GREAT) but now I have no desire for sec. After my removal appointment I was left with a swollen arm and the implant STILL IN! I feel very frustrated.. I really don’t want to have surgery to get It removed. Could they try removing it again before referring me to something so drastic? Any advice?
I love the Nexplanon. Personally I have not had a menstrual cycle in 2 years, no bleeding or spotting and I haven't had any side effects. The one thing that I found is that although I have not gained weight, I haven't been able to lose any. With diet and exercise I have only lost a few pounds.
I am not on any birth control and normally have irregular periods. I have spotting as my period for the month or I just skip bleeding for months. Sometimes once in a blue moon I get a regular period. When you get spotting a with this insert, does it happen for a week like a normal period because I don’t mind that. It’s what I have now. Or does it occur irregularly through out the whole month and not in a controlled week period of time?

Okay I have a question that's never really occurred to me. How does it release the progestin? Or whatever? I have my old "stick" in a pee cup and there is no holes or anywhere for it to release the special anti babies goo... so does it leach through or like how? By the way I've had mine for like 12 years and absolutely love it and basically never get a period. Just always thought it had a hole or something for it to release.

i got nexplanon about 4 months ago and i was expecting some spotting or irregular bleeding. however, i was bleeding almost everyday for the first two months. i'd describe the bleeding to be more like a light period then spotting. after those two months, there was no bleeding for about a month then it started again for another 10 weeks or so. should i be worried? my major concern is that it's more blood than i anticipated and i expected it to be a few days each month, not almost everyday. please help
If it’s just spotting blood or not heavy it means u are fine, unless u do a FBC or u notice that u are anaemic like dizziness, pale hands and conjunctiva, headache, hypotension then u can talk to your doc and have it removed. Good luck
This might sound like a very silly question but can you exercise as normal, particularly with arm exercises or weights? Will it shift if you sleep on your arm where it was inserted or when you exercise?
I am this kind of birth control and am diabetic as will but the last couple of months my period would last up too two weeks and stop maybe a day and it’ll keep bleeding what do I do?.
Heyyyy I was fine for 8 months. No blood for 5 months! Now I’m bleeding daily, my cramps are going back to being really painful, my head hurts a lot and I have acne that’s not going away 😐
If u are not bleeding heavily then it’s okay, unless u are loosing a lot of blood, and acne is one of its side effects and headache too, for the cramp o don’t know about but it will hopefully stop too, if the bleeding passed 15 days I think u should inform your O and G doc. Good luck

I’ve had my Nexplanon in for almost 10 years. I’ve been with the same partner and haven’t gotten pregnant. I’m going to get it removed this week. Do you think leaving it in that long could cause problems now that we want to conceive?
Thanks for this inspiration 💜 Creativity shouldn’t stop with becoming a parent, thats when life really opens up and we can gain deeper understanding about ourselves, and mysterious existence itself! This is stuff I’m exploring on my channel with a DIY reality show UV:TV- about being a musician and mother during Covid :) Thanks so much
I’ve been getting reoccurring BV and UTI in the 3rd year of my nexplanon out of nowhere. Can nexplanon cause this?
Great info!!!! I’ve been trying to do some research on the BC patch as well, so any videos and advice on that would be well appreciated as well. Also on how/if BC interferes with other prescribed medications. Thanks so much for your videos and the realistic info!
Do i possibly get pregnant 5days after the insertion?? Hope you help me
I had my don on 2018 . I gained so much 😢. The first year it wasn’t so bad just spotting . But then i was on my month like 2 times a week and very heavy. But this week I’m going to have it removed.
Planned parenthood told me it lasts for 5 years when I went for a removal and another implant
I am not sure! It's worth discussing with your doctor to make sure other causes of bleeding are being evaluated too. Good luck!
Are you having irregular periods weekly or?
I have the same question!!
No change in effectiveness!
@@jjjlove2260 I went to a new one. She sorta got mad my other dr did nothing and prescribed me Estrogen and said it should stop it
@@sugarrshay6972 okay. Hope it all works out for you
This will be my 4th time getting my implant. I've been on for almost 12 years. I'm concerned about the space left on my arm. How far uo can the implant be placed? Can it be inserted in a spot it's been in previously? I hope I make sense
Yes, can be inserted in same area!
Is this a good option for someone suffering from pcos ? Thanks .
no
Hi Dr Lincoln, how long until I should remove the bandages
i have a question, if nexplanon prevents ovulation how are periods possible? i’m having periods similar to normal and scared i’m ovulating is this possible?
It's not a true period bleed - think of it as bleeding because of unstable uterine lining and not from the withdrawal of our own normal hormone fluctuations. Hope that helps!
@@DrJenniferLincoln would the bleeding still cause horrible pains associated with endometriosis? That's the main reason I use progesterone only birth control. I used depo for 4 years and zero periods
I just got inserted (implant)not up to a month and right now am battling with fever, nausea , severe headache and even cervical cramps . Please I need an advice , am thinking of removing it if there is no solution
i just got mine yesterday!!!
I know I’m one month late, but girl how do you feel now 30 days later ??
@@rachaelh2585 hey girl! i feel good! it has helped my anxiety TREMENDOUSLY. i’m also not as depressed, i find myself genuinely happy. sadly i’m still bleeding. i got my period an hour before i left for my appointment, and i’ve been spotting since then. but that’s pretty much the only down side. and the blood is not bad at all! very light, brown, spotting like. but it’s a regular side effect!
@@rachaelh2585 also, my arm healed and now i make peopl touch it lmao!! but yeah i 10/10 recommend if you don’t mind a little blood, BUT it’s different for everyone, you could get it and not bleed at all! regardless, you can get it removed whenever.
I’ve had Nexplanon for about 4 years now and yes it’s supposed to last 3 but I read it can last till 5 the only reason I haven’t gotten it removed is because I don’t have insurance I hate this thing!!! In the beginning it’s amazing my period completely went away for the first 2 years after that year my period come back only to last for about 2 months each cycle it’s draining!!!
I feel like my nexplanon is causing me to gain weight. I’ve had two kids and this is my first time ever being on birth control and my weight fluctuates 5-10 pounds every month... I’ve never experienced this before.
Chat with your doc!
@@DrJenniferLincoln so I want to get it but I don’t want my mom to find out lol but they told me the insurance papers get sent to the mail and to her gmail. Do you know what the statements will say exactly ?
I feel the same way if making me gain a lot of weight and I be having crazy cravings. I want it out fast.
I really do think I’ve gained some weight being on the Nexplanon. It came on I work out eat healthy it never sheds however, I never experienced that on the pill Tri-Sprintec. My periods have also been insane 2years and 8months on the Nexplanon.
Wish my gyno was as nice as you she can be a little brash at times if you ask too many questions
I had my implant inserted after a week of conceiving, and it still in my arm for six years since now.And i am curious because i have had unsafe sex lately?
can i know what method are you using?
How fast does it start work once when it’s in your arm?
I have the nexplanon I’ve had it since June and haven’t bled since the second week I had it!
But I’ve also gained 30lbs since then

Everyone it’s different you won’t know for sure until you get it. But for me it made me not spot or bleed at all for the whole time I’ve had it
can a woman get pregnant after the implant has expired for 3 years and two months
I just got nexplanon. Still healing.
How are you doing with it now if you don’t mind my asking?
@@melj5399 I got mine a week ago and I haven’t had any problems with it yet

I get ocular migraines and have been told that I can't use estrogen BC. Does Nexplanon use estrogen?
No, its progesterone based.
Ive got bleeding now for a month had it in since april but on plus side no weight gain i gained more on depo bleeding is light i was told to expect this
With my implant I gain up to 25kg in 2yrs, I was everything right, omad and exercise 5x a week, and I still keep gain weight… it’s annoying!!!
Did I mention I didn’t hv my period for over a year!! Just 2 days spotting once in 4 months… I am taking it out..
Can you be on nexplanon and the pill? I used to do that with my mirena until my period went away. I gained a lot of weight. I’m bad at remembering a pill though. So I wanted a built in back up method as I travel way too much.

She is in a whole other RUclips league!! thanks for the kind words :)
Is it okay to get nexplanon as the first birth control? I heard it is recommended not to get it as the first
I got nexplanon as my 1st after having my child. They told me its one of the best options
Just always thought it had a hole or something for it to release.
i got my nexplanon 2 weeks ago and i haven’t experienced spotting or bleeding. is this normal?
I just had a baby and took nexplanon in my fifth weeks of pregnancy now I’m bleeding very heavy is this normal ?
Is it possible to get pregnant while there is an implanon?
There's always a chance as nothing is 100%, but the nexplanon is pretty darn close to that!
Hey! I had implanon for 7 months until i started getting acne and since i got this implant i had bled every day, i also gained 6kg since i got it.
I got it removed almost a month ago and I'm still gaining weight, is that normal? I have hypotirodism but it's controlled :)
This is my 3 yr and i skipped my period last month and havent got it this month i am getting the nexplanon remove this week cause it time already but can i be pregnant if i never skip my period and now i i have skipped
How does bleeding occur if Ovulation doesn’t?
The hormonal fluctuations can still affect the lining of the uterus, which can still slough off and bleed
Ive had nexplanon for almost 6 years(this is my second one) and need to change it in April. However, Ive started getting regular periods every month for about 5 months as well, when that hasnt happened in the past. Is this a sign it’s wearing off? Ive felt around and its still in the same spot, and Im not due for my appointment until April!
I have had spotting every once in a while the whole time, but never a full period until last year.
Hi, love your content you make it easy for women and men to understand, can I go in a steam room with it?
Lol i got told that the shot or the implant is good with weight gain....
(I struggle with gaining weight and I’m a little under weight) so I choose to get the implant since I heard it can cause weight gain and you don’t have to do anything for the next 3 years
did you gain any weight?
I gained way too much weight…
Had mine for 1.5 yrs

Do you believe that certain foods can help end your period faster? I’ve been on for weeks and it’s been an actual period. Not spotting
Unfortunately we don't have any foods that have been proven to do that!
i have no gotten my period i got it october 15 2024 im scared help is that normal
So if i got my implant in and im on my period light bleeding is it still the same or can you get pregnant?
Can some one talk about the healing process I haven't seen 1 video on that
i got nexplanon about 4 months ago and i was expecting some spotting or irregular bleeding. however, i was bleeding almost everyday for the first two months. i'd describe the bleeding to be more like a light period then spotting. after those two months, there was no bleeding for about a month then it started again for another 10 weeks or so. should i be worried? my major concern is that it's more blood than i anticipated and i expected it to be a few days each month, not almost everyday. please help
If it’s just spotting blood or not heavy it means u are fine, unless u do a FBC or u notice that u are anaemic like dizziness, pale hands and conjunctiva, headache, hypotension then u can talk to your doc and have it removed. Good luck
What about breastfeeding?! Will it stop my milk supply??
This might sound like a very silly question but can you exercise as normal, particularly with arm exercises or weights? Will it shift if you sleep on your arm where it was inserted or when you exercise?
Not silly and you can do all of those! No shifting from sleeping etc.
Hi am on arm implant birth control but am taking maca root and fenugreek is it gonna cancel birth control 🙃
does st. john’s wort affect it?
I heard it does but I’m not 100% sure
How about the Implanon?
The nexplanon is the implanon but with a radio opaque component so we can now see it on imaging. Same medicine!
is it normal to have an implant and still get your monthlys now and again but it's not spotting i.ts a constant flow for more than a month ?

Heyyyy I was fine for 8 months. No blood for 5 months! Now I’m bleeding daily, my cramps are going back to being really painful, my head hurts a lot and I have acne that’s not going away 😐
If u are not bleeding heavily then it’s okay, unless u are loosing a lot of blood, and acne is one of its side effects and headache too, for the cramp o don’t know about but it will hopefully stop too, if the bleeding passed 15 days I think u should inform your O and G doc. Good luck

Hi there, someone in my life got the implant over a year ago and bleeds near constantly and hasn't had an appointment since, is that something to be concerned about?
Irregular bleeding is a common side effect and a common reason people have the nexplanon removed - if it doesn't bother them it is OK but always worth reviewing with their doctor that something else isn't wrong!
Can you talk about combination pills and a possible link to cancer?
What about libido?
I have nexplanon, but I’m still TERRIFIED of getting pregnant. But when I was having sex with this guy, he told me he came inside of me later in the day. I never took plan B. But my period isn’t late, I just haven’t had it yet. I’m so scared
