    1,200 tons is very light! - Surely you mean 12,000 tonnes?

    • @GI-AUS
      @GI-AUS 2 года назад +1

      It's 1,200 tons of displacement, not the weight of the boat. So probably correct.

    • @Jin-Ro
      @Jin-Ro 2 года назад +10

      @@GI-AUS No, the displacement is 7,800 according to wiki. 10,000 submerged. Video was way off.

      1,200 tons displacement is definitely wrong.

    1,200 tons displacement puts it in the Midget Submarine category. Anything that small is a diesel-electric boat. The reactor alone is bigger than that. Maybe, it's manned by Mini-Meeskys.

    00:59 "New Borei-class submarines will replace them in the 2030s." Not likely. If the Russians have begun work, they will more than likely to stay in drydock until well past 2030.

    • @chrisburke624
      @chrisburke624 2 года назад +2

      I think that’s referring to the class’s entire replacement. Didn’t the Russians just launch the first of class about 2yrs ago?
      (Or was it their other class, starts with a Y I believe?)
      From open sources, apparently those new subs are extremely quiet

    • @Marc_Gagne
      @Marc_Gagne 2 года назад +1

      @@chrisburke624 Extremely quiet yes because they will never be built. But I am not an expert. I'm just an ordinary person who was taken aback when Russia started their offensive in February.

    Well, the Delta III class was about 13,500tins surfaced and 18,000 tons submerged, and the Delta IV's were similar in overall design, so I dunno where they got the 1,200t from! 8-}

  • @jjsmallpiece9234
    @jjsmallpiece9234 2 года назад +3

    They will be replaced only if Russia has the money and access to the technology - computers etc. Which is not certain given the current situation

      The Ukrainian navy is tiny and possesses no submarines. Even if they did, the Deltas are nuclear assets and reside in deep waters.
