As a former US Navy Submariner, I’ve always been fascinated with these boats and would have loved to go out to sea on one to see what it’s like. I respect all submariners from all countries. Our countries may be enemies at times, but no submariner will ever be my enemy! Regardless of the country, all submariners are brothers!!

In 1962, a Russian submarine Commander spared an American destroyer from imminent destruction from a stealth torpedo during the Cuban missile crisis.
I must say as the son of an Australian submariner I have huge respect for these elite sailors and for us to see a Russian akula is a very special treat I have a love and fondness of everything Russian and the Russian culture is marvellous I must say thankyou for this amazing work and to the sailors of the Russian navy may the wind be always at you back and may the sun shine upon you always respect

Well I'd be a little nervous sitting in a submarine full of extremely delicate torpedoes that could go off internally at any moment. Remember, it was a torpedo that destroyed that one in 2000: it had a cheaper, more volatile propellant installed which was set off by something. I hope for the sake of these crews that they have since upgraded their arsenal... And lets not forget the often poor maintenance of these boats. This has been the bane of the existence of both American and Russian submarines (the American subs of the late 60's were outdated and very poorly maintained, leading to some famous disasters of the period).
I read that there was a defective torpedo on Kursk. A batch of ten was rejected, and the command ordered the return of all combat torpedoes of that batch to the plant, but only 9 torpedoes were combat, and one was training. Due to the wording of the order, the defective training torpedo remained and was used.
