I got my 40 off Amazon and my empi single from a private party. 200 all together from being thrifty. Swapped all internal parts to weber. And it is sweet on my 1968cc
You can’t beat that cb ignition, definitely a major upgrade! You should be good with those carbs, worse case put the jets fro the old carbs into the new carbs. Great job guys!
Thanks for checking out the vid! Sometimes working on these old cars things don't always workout how we'd like so when it does I definitely get excited!
Can you install that magnaspark ll on a 1600 cc stock motor with a stock carburetor, I was planing to change my stock distributor to a petronix but after looking you video you are right it is a better value.
I honestly the the Mangaspark II is awesome value and so far I like it better then the Pertronix... You can use it on a stock 1600, if yours still has vacuum advance you’ll want to plug that port on the carburetor and you may have 2 change your fuel pump depending on the style that’s on your engine. On Cb performance site it’ll tell you which style pump you need. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Well I'm not a 100% sure on the engine specs it came out of a rolled over 65 bug we bought for the engine and trans that had just been built... Supposedly and 1835 but when we pulled it had 1915 written on the back of the case.
Well the alternator was on the engine when we pulled it out of the rolled over 65 I looked at it and didn’t see any markings on it so not sure… And I’m still shocked at how good the carbs are doing!
@@mileageunknown8910 i also bought a set of fjas 40 idf carbs for a 1600 with w100 cam. Still waiting for delivery, will try to make a video of them. But alternator wise, i have one chineese running on my 1915cc but when new out the box it had 2mm of wobble on the main anchor. So im looking for a second one. Because all brands from bosch, hella and all unknown brands look exactly the same im curious if there even is a diffrence in them. I found one brand that has a different style housing, like the oem bosch had. So maybe purchasing that one, idk at the moment. Cheers
@@daalhoffarm nice! Will definitely checkout the vid when you post! I’ll double check the alt 2 see if there’s any markings on it I was out in the semi dark garage using my phone, maybe in the daylight I’ll see something on it.
I put the magnaspark 2 on my old bus and it made a huge different. You could feel the difference off the line in smoothness and get up. Im going to purchase another one for my new bus soon. Im really surprised by those CIP1 carbs man.. who knew? Lol
Yeah I really like the magnaspark setup I’m surprised I didn’t do it sooner! I’m shocked on how good the carbs are doing so far I’ve put some miles on it and they’re still going strong so hopefully I get some time out of them.
Thanks for checking out the vid..... so the engine was said to be an 1835 when we pulled it to install into pops 56’ it had 1915 written on it by the shop so honestly not sure..... the carbs we bolted on with the jetting that came from CIP1 and still seem to be running awesome! My hat my brother Trav actually made and he sells them here and there at local Vw shows!
Hey guys, Kevin here from Australia. It definitely sounds good. I've had the magnaspark for a few years now and you can't fault it. Q. What transmission are you running in pops car. See you on the next one. ✌ Peace
I feel like I should’ve been running the magnaspark forever idk why we didn’t do it sooner! Well the trans in pops car came out of the rolled over 65’ we had 2 run a weird adapter plate 2 put it in the 56’ it was supposedly rebuilt same time as the engine the description on the receipt is just prostreet freeway flyer
Well it’s a custom job from way before pops even got the car so it’s almost hard to say... it’s vinyl the pillars/lower section are done in a black leather grain vinyl and the center roof section is a gray leather grain vinyl that’s been stitched into squares and that section is tucked into the roof/pillar gap if that makes sense? Pops alway live the look of that headliner and had people ask him/compliment it all the time.
These actually weren't bad at all come 2 find out the liner in the gas tank had be dissolving into the fuel and gumming everything up! The Magnaspark is awesome have it on a few cars now.
Bet dad is so happy and proud. Roll on pops, roll on.
Thanks! Appreciate that we’re definitely going 2 keep this one going it’s not going anywhere!

Hi....great video....run with the medium advance curve springs?
Thanks for checking it out, we literally pulled the kit out of the box and plugged it in as setup by CB performance and it works great!
