Thanks that bearing snap ring on the right was what was holding the cover on it. the gear shift shaft slid right off didn't matter what gear it was in. I'm taking my time and really enjoying this project. I rescued this pilot from the junk yard the radiator had leaked antifreeze into the transmission. The previous owner was bitching that they had just put new tires on it, so I gave them the price of the tires for it. I am a machanic I have change a few transmisions out, rebuilt front ends, this will be my first transmission. Very messy. I really value your advice. I have been looking high and low for a diagram or a manual for this transmission. can't seem to find anything on line.
Doubt you will find a manual on it. This is one of the tougher ones, especially for your first one. Will try and help you all I can.

You have been a lot of help thank you very much. I have the valve body cleaned and put back together. I ordered and recieved my Transtar rebuild kit. A parts diagram came with it that helps too. I tore down the 3rd gear basket. took the piston apart cleaned and put new O rings on the piston. Went to put it back together and didn't get the snap ring in place right and about took my head off when it flew apart. I tie a rope thru the spring, housing and press and wear a face shield now. it didn't hit me but I got great respect for it now. Anyhow my question is before I put the clutches in should I soak them overnight in Honda Transmission fluid? They are Raybestos clutch's that came with the kit.
You can. Don't really need to do it over night. 30 minutes to an hour will be sufficient. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. Some parts of doing this are dangerous.

I have one on the B5SA Nov. 6 2020 I believe is the same or close enough. I need to spend some time and separate these videos into playlists so they might be easier to find I guess. I got the earlier version of this unit (BVGA) coming out of a vehicle so should have videos of the tear down and rebuild of it next week.

At least your case gasket was straight and flat, mine was balled up.

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot but the transmission in it has a 2007 BVGA in it. The case only spits at the bottom . It just has a cover over that 1 shaft. Do you have a tear down video of that 2007 video you have the rebuild video of? I am working backward with your rebuild video.

I enjoy your videos I have what will probably really seem like a stupid question. I have that 2007 BVGA on my bench I have measured all the case bolts and put in baggies. I have split the case about to where I can stick my fingers between the two halves. But it will not completely separate seem like something is holding it. I got the large nut and washer under it off I think the nut was like a 34 mm on the only shaft that comes thru the top. I have even suspended the top halve with a hoist. what do thing is preventing the separation?
The bearing up at the top to the right has a snap ring that needs to be spread out so the bearing slides past it or the linkage is not in the correct position. Most need to be in low gear, I believe this one is like that. There is one that needs to be in park position. So, it will be one or the other.
